- Day 2 of the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 saw the real action get underway for the first time. Not only did we have first practice for the cars in the Timed Shootout - including a mighty F5000 car, the legendary Calsonic Skyline and the new Project midnight - but we also had Formula 1 star Logan Sargeant in a Williams FW08 and two-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso taking to the Hill in the Aston Martin Valiant he commissioned. Elsewhere there was the debut of the amazing new Ford Dakar Raptor and some amazing runs from WRC and drift cars.

@@itsnotagsr I genuinely couldn’t care any less. With that logic, why would they allow drift cars or custom 1/1 cars like that “Half 11” Porsche. Or the numerous other cars that were destroyed and had to be rebuilt with new parts that more than likely aren’t original. It’s a celebration of cars and driving. Not even just cars, just automobiles in general with the amount of trucks, cars, motorcycles, racecars that never raced, and EVs; I even saw a vehicle with a propeller from a plane as a source of power. If my memory is correct, I’ve even seen cars in the past that are from movies and such. So even if this was a replica, we can all see the amount of care, respect, respect, and attention to detail being put in, it’s worthy. I just want to see cars, drivers, and people enjoying their cars.
Edit: This year there was that horrendous old Ford Transit van with an eBay livery that couldn’t even make it up the hill and broke down, but seeing it get towed by a Rolls Royce Cullinan was still enjoyable and funny. What racing heritage did that truck have? It’s all fun.

was renewaled so that body cant unbearable. so nissan officials are

Never seen that Ford Dakar Raptor until now, what an utter spaceship! Also the classic Skyline always delivers up the hill 👌
It was the first time Ford has shown it, apparently a project well hidden to tackle the next Dakar

@@CalvinMOfficial The Gibson Motorsport Skylines were even faster. Nissan would not let them race in Japan because of the performance difference. I would love to see both. See which is faster after all these years.
I believe that’s a special one that didn’t race and makes a ton more power than the race spec ones did. It’s a very powerful copy if I remember.

My advice for better coverage is to go back to basics. No piped in engine sounds at random times. A simple graphic on the bottom with the car name instead of joke titles. A timer for people doing flat out runs.
Spectating is worse now too the hay bales are way bigger and have like a 7ft gap between you and the bales at some points of the track you barely get to see the cars and there’s tons of photographers that like to stand in the way
@@MiataManDan It's straw... hay wouldn't stop a cat!!! You can also make walls and roofs out of straw. It's pretty strong stuff. ;-)
I have learned that it isnt FOS without bad audio in the playbacks. Its almost like a feature of it now compared to other events.
They're not "piped in at random times", there's a delay because the microphones are on different cameras than the ones we're watching. It's not exactly a BBC production.

Love the F5000s, fabulous cars. I remember some wonderful grids of around 15-20 of these storming past the start at Hampton Downs a few years ago. The sounds and vibrations were something else. Who was the driver here?

How is it that Goodwood still hasn't figured out how to match video feed to audio feed?
the audio is matched it's the overlapping and fading in and out of the audio that makes it terrible.
@@unishot619 you can do soft transitions with the audio, but watching several seconds of in-car with the audio from the start line playing the entire time is hilarious.

The Speirling was my favorite. Just sounds crazy as it is fast.

I watched the stream all day for the most part but somehow managed to miss ever single one of those runs 😂
I don't know why but those Quattro noises just do it for me. Damn!

Great coverage of an event that's not tailor-made for TV, thanks team. My issue with the event as it is today, with all respect to Lord March, is the heavy influence of EV. This modern indulgence, some would say aberration of automotive progress, has it's place, if anywhere, in short-haul commuter vehicles to "save the planet", not bloated hypercars which take up the electric current of a village to recharge effectively. Vehicles like the McMurtrey and that McLaren thing, are a curiosity, not a way forward, and the celebration of the wonders of the last century or more, were the overwhelming focus. The WHOOOOSH of a 3 tonne EV I'm sure, leaves many people cold.
i don't know what they are doing with the sound but its bloody awful fading in and out in the same shot.....
camera angle swaps are also microphone swaps
I think sometimes there are other cars slightly out of shot that make it more confusing to listen to also

I am so tired about hearing the duke this, the duke that! Goodwood festival of speed is honestly unwatchable on UA-cam! It's riddled with ads like 90% of the time, production has not evolved in 20 years (filming is awful and let's not talk about sound....) and commentators, they talk so much you can't even hear the cars/motorcycles... Come on guys! UNSUBSCRIBED! Where is the real car content?!?
