Really needed this info. Thank you. By the way, Save and Apply is a huge time saver, because you can make a bunch of changes, saving after every change, not just bridge mode for example, and then click apply. It will result in one restart, so you don't have to restart for every change you make. In most network devises, even Orbi, it will restart as soon as you click save, for some of the settings that is, and you have to wait for it to come back online.
Very good point but you can't leave the page without applying on this firmware. I like your idea of multiple changes and one save.

I like the fact that we have a working solution to still access the yeacomm in bridge mode. Its not ideal by disconnecting and hooking up to a computer directly by changing your ip address but it works. I am quite sure i can find someway to maybe manipulate my network where i can still access over the network but for now it works. Im truly excited about the new one and it might replace that yeacomm when i get my hands on it. Even though i might already know who makes it but we shall see soon! That might be one of the primary takeaways from the video, don't tie the two together. Get your best 5G signal and then get the features you want distribute Wi-Fi your way. I guess, I am not a fan of Gateways. It's like trying to find a car manufacturer that makes a good stereo, disassociate the two to get the best of both worlds.

Great video. I have the black gateway Fast 5688W. Is it possible to use your own router/gateway and put the sims card in your own hardware? Does it make since to do so, maybe for better signal? We travel with ours all over the southwest in our RV.
I think the answer is going to be prioritization. As use turns to abuse and we wander from our locations, perhaps they simply bring down the priority to maintain the experience for the greatest number of people but still allow us all to be free and be who and where we want to be. That way if you are uploading at 3am and it has no impact to the network, let it rip!
Im using tmobile internet.. and i decided to buy a mesh wifi.. its a decoTPlink mesh you know for better speeds because i am streaming games and experienced game buffering but not streams.. do i need to get this too? (Im near a wifi tower too)
Gaming is tricky because it is not so much about speed but latency. Many games send small positional packets and require a very responsive network (low PING). Still other games require a constant IP address (PVP) and that can be done with a faster router. PING is the tricky one... While PING is reported by many Internet speed testing programs, it only tests the ping to the speed test server, which is located on every network, including TMobile. Most gaming servers are not located on TMobile and must jump to another service at an IXP (internet exchange point). What is your PING?
Any hints about when the embargo will expire on this new unit? The T-Mobile 5G signal isn't that great in a pocket where I am (also in San Jose :) so been considering getting an external antenna for our two-story home. An all-in-one unit may be the way to go, rather than having to modify the T-Mobile-provided gateway for external antennas.
Interesting... what part of San Jose? Maybe I can come over and show you what this antenna can do before you have to invest your money? I can imaging that people might get tired of seeing videos where I am getting 700Mbps, this might make a good video to help others. A before and after of the improvement.

@@PaulChambers-GadgetMechanic oh, so your buddied up against the Los Gatos hills. That's okay the tower should be the other direction. It might be interesting to bring my unit out there and see what it's like. That way we could genuinely see if it is making a difference in a challenging area.
@@PeterC408 if cellmapper's coverage maps are accurate, the 'best' cell tower would be the one at Almaden Plaza (the shopping center with Costco). That's south of me, and the other side of 85, which is on an earth embankment for that stretch. So getting some height is probably necessary to get over that (and the buildings in between). It probably isn't surprising that reception isn't great at ground level.
The irony is that there are several other cell towers nearby, but cellmapper shows some very directional coverage patterns for them, unfortunately away from me.
So yes, I'm guessing that you could make some interesting content, both on the advantages of a good antenna, and the benefits of mounting a good antenna at greater height.

Yikes. Band locking is in order. Not all bands have balance up and down speeds. You might want to give a little to get a little. Going outside for the signal could be your saving grace.

I just got the new white T-Mobile gateway with the 4x antenna ports on the back since I had a waveform antenna from a previous setup. Weird thing is the gateway has extremely slow speeds (less than 20Mbps) down and up. Can't figure out why. The Sagemcom modem it replaced worked great, speeds near 500Mbps most any time. I am baffled and T-Mobile seems to be as well.
Strange. Did you tell the firmware that you have an antenna on the external ports? It has to be set in Firmware
Did you look to see which bands you're locking into? One of the problems is that the hardware locks onto the strongest signal. It doesn't make any accommodations for the fact that it may be locking into a band with lesser bandwidth. Either way 20 megabit is way too low. I freak out if I drop a low 350 Mbps. You want to look at your RSRP, RSRQ and SiNR. Therein lies the real story.
@@PeterC408 The modem was setup for either the internal or an external antenna depending on whether I had the waveform attached. Not sure of exactly which bands. Was on the phone twice with T-Mobile for over 4 hours in total. For the first time however, I did connect to 5G UC which never happened on my Sagemcom modem. T-Mobile said everything was set properly on my end there shouldn't be an issue.
I just tried this morning to hook the modem directly to a single computer and it worked fine. Speeds over 400Mb. Ran it back through my router and its down to almost nothing again. Maybe there is some kind of pass through function or something we are missing. Don't know.
May just buy a Sagemcom off eBay since it works without issue and mod it to use the external antenna. Save some hassle.
So to be clear? With this yeacomm modem I do Not need my waveform quad mini antenna?

Lots and lots of us RV'rs searching for a replacement for T-M Home internet. As most of us are not computer geeks could you make a few suggestions for something fairly plug and play (other than Starlink)? I was thinking a GL-X3000 and a Calyx T-Mobile data plan with appropriate IMEI. I think the Yeacomm unit would also be great being able to mount it on the roof but a little more involved setting it up for most users and I don't get the coupon option from Amazon.
The Yeacomm would be good for an RV because it is Omni-directional (meaning that you don't have to point it). For home use, I prefer a directional antenna because I know where my tower is and can get better gain but for an RV or Boat, this would be great. I know RV'ing is a big market and I am looking for an Influencer in that space to try some things with. Let me know if you know of any YT influencers in the RV world that might be up for such things.
I got the same one and I put it in bridge mode. I got T-Mobile and it shows it's connected but my router won't get a wide area network IP. I even plugged in my laptop and have it to automatically get an IP. It should get a WAN IP with bridge mode but it never does what's up?
What kind of IP address does it get? 192.168.x.x? Simply put the NR610 in bridge mode (this should stop it from doing NAT/DHCP) and the router should get the WAN IP. Then the AP can create local IPs that are only single NAT. Don't forget to turn on DDNS (with something like No-IP) and it will serve and tunnel out.
@@PeterC408 Mobile data WAN IP, IP DNS, IPv6, and IPv6 DNS all have a -- next to them. But getting a great 5G T-Mobile signal. The 5G RSRP is getting -73 dBm. I guess it needs some other setting in Bridge Mode. I don't want to set it to factory defaults because lose T-Mobile settings to connect to it.
Also on the home screen network status it will have a x between the 5G T-Mobile and my device when in bridge mode.
@@PeterC408 All so I have DHCP turn off on the ODU NR6 because it's on in my Nest WiFi Pro. Do I have to have the DHCP server on for it to get a WAN IP? It just don't do it. I did this 2 times in bridge mode waiting and it don't get a WAN IP.
My router always reports "DHCP not configured correctly" when I put it in bridge mode.
I assumed the router should be set to "Automatic IP".
When I switch to bridge mode with just a computer attached, I have no internet connection.
T-Mobile is operating on IPv6 exclusively and the NO-IP Configuration always says "Offline"
Even the AAAA record and that DDNS shows as offline.
How are you getting IPv4 addresses when T-Mobile isn't providing them?
@@GeorgeArchibald T-Mobile is always giving me IPv4. The only problem with it is it keeps changing. That is Carrier Grade NAT, In that caused quite an issue until I was able to control it using DDNS and bridge mode. Which router do you have? I did a video exclusively for the Yeecom NR610 and the crazy way they use bridge mode.
Hey George - I am reading this again and wanted to make sure of something. It is the Gateway that you want to be in Bridge Mode, not the access point (but that shouldn't give you this error). Bridge Mode on the Modem side is a way to get the ISP to give your router their IP address instead of their own unit. This is only because their gateway lacks many desirable features. This not only works, it works so well that I am no longer surprised when it works. I was just in Carmel for the week (going to the ocean to beat the valley heat) and I was able to watch videos from my server on the Big Screen over PLEX. I wanted to tell my kids how impossible this was before, but they are tired of hearing it.

It's back! Thanks for the heads up. I contacted them and asked them to put it back for a week or so. Regarding the other version, NR610-Q X62, it has a different modem chip in it. It is not as fast. I would stay with the NR610
What's going to happen when t mobile starts using the Internal GPS to determine location? They won't be able to connect to the gateway if I'm using Yeacomm. What do you think is going to happen?
They legitimately allow BYOD on the business side so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't open that up. They don't want to have to pay for your gateway it's a $400 device. And it's not meeting the needs of all of their customers. I can make better use of their network than they can. I solve problems that they said we're unsolvable. They should actually start shipping this unit. Oh and the mystery unit does have a GPS module in it
Can you use 3rd party modems without a tmobile business account?
Yes. Depending on where you live, you can do just about anything. Technically there is no issue, but short sighted bureaucrats and lawmakers make is challenging to do what you want to do in certain locations around the world.
What’s to stop me from using the SIM card from my T-Mobile phone instead of from their Home Internet gateway? It’s been cheaper for me to have an additional line rather than their home Internet
I've been running an extra phone line for about 2 years now, always worked better than the TMO home Internet.
When the SIM card of a T-Mobile voice line is installed in a device that’s not a phone, data speeds are throttled to approximately 600Kbp/s, making performance unusable. You can use any line that’s called a “T-Mobile Mobile Internet” line in devices like hotspots and cellular Internet gateways, but you cannot use any line specifically called a “tablet” line in a cellular Internet gateway as it will be speed-throttled as well. You can use mobile Internet lines in tablets, however.
@@llukem I mean you believe what you need to believe, but my internet would disagree with you.
There's a different network (APN) and they've whitelisted your SIM and IMEI to allow entrance. Simply pluging another SIM would mean the numbers wouldn't match and it wouldn't let you on the network.
@@PeterC408 APNs orchestrate the connection between a cellular connection and access to the Internet. As for network access itself, T-Mobile allows what’s called “hot swapping” of SIMs between devices, meaning they update the IMEI for a line in their system to whichever device is using the associated SIM card to connect to the network. In other words, no, T-Mobile will not deny network access to a line if the device’s IMEI doesn’t match the IMEI on file for that the respective SIM card number (called the ICCID). T-Mobile’s system will just update it. What I said earlier still applies, though. If you use a SIM that’s on a voice plan inside a non-phone device, speed will be severely throttled. SIM card hot-swapping is allowed on all major networks in the US and there’s virtually no carriers left that disallow it. One of the very few exceptions I can think of is Metro by T-Mobile, who still locks ICCIDs to IMEIs and you must contact them to update your IMEI before they allow network access. The practice is very uncommon and has been phased out now, so virtually no notable carrier apart from Metro does it.
Who has implemented this solution and what were your results? What were you trying to access through the port forwarding? e.g. Camera's, a reverse proxy, web server etc. Forget about mentioning Plex as this has already been covered.

That program wants to be updated all the time. I've seen bills of Kodi that update less often. And it's always for something esoteric like now supports the Turkish language. Not that that's not important but I don't speak Turkish. I've always been of the mind if it works don't fix it
Why not skip the headache and just buy Starlink?
Where to start? StarLink is amazing if you happen to be in the middle of nowhere. I was shocked to be in the middle of a 1,000,000 acre burn site and still had decent internet. It was 25Mbps down and 5Mbps up, not amazing but good enough. Now, while a life saver, those scores suck!! 5Mbps is on the edge of acceptability for a single Zoom call (in my video you just saw me get 140Mbps UP), we are talking about one working from home (and ever glitch reminds people that you are not in the office). Now, let's get to the price. It's very expensive. $120/mo!!! and it is not unlimited. While StarLink does not have a "data cap", Starlink plans limit the amount of high-speed data you receive. While generous, sources I have found list up to 2TB a month, they will push you down if you go over that. StarLink does not avoid headaches, you just trade one headache for another. How much aspirin could you buy for $120/mo
@@PeterC408 This is all false. I've had Starlink for over 2 years so I know all the ins and outs. I also had 3-4 years of ATT business class unlimited hotspot with all the additional antennas etc. they you are currently doing now. Point is, I have experience in all scenarios. ATT was good when it was good, but when it was bad, it was very bad. I got 100 mbps + at times with ATT but at night 5 mbps and under if I was lucky. This is even with the highest priority data as I have a business. Now flipside Starlink. When I 1st got it, I was averaging 500- 600 mbps. That lasted about 6 months as I was 1 of the 1st to get it. Then it went down to 100 mbps- 300 mbps, 50 mbps on the absolute worse day. That was the last year or so. Now, they have increased speeds again. I'm seeing 300 mbps + and absolute worse is around 100 mbps. I am also on a very crowded satellite as lots of people in my area have it so this is worse case scenario. I've been hearing people getting 500 mbps again. Never ever have my speeds been 5mpbs, that's ludicrous for Starlink. To tackle your second point, I use 5 TB per month + so the information you are getting is incorrect. Never throttled! If you have an rv plan, ofcourse you will be throttled because that's the point. If you have standard service, you won't be throttled as far as I have seen. Is it in the language of the tos? Yes, it is but I've personally never seen it. Now, to tackle a very solid point that you didn't cover. Latency/ ping/ jitter- this is far worse on mobile than it is on Starlink. You would think that it would be opposite but it's not. Satellite in leo has come a long way. My worse ping is around 60ms and I'm getting as low as 28ms. Mobile can get that too but it's not stable. Playing games was almost impossible on ATT hotspot.
All this being said, you should really give Starlink another shot as you either didn't have the dish set right, had too many trees, or it was bad timing in a period when Starlink wasn't as good as it is now. To better prove my point, Tmobile is partnering with Starlink because they need their service and not the other way around which should tell you all you need to know as far as what technology is improving the fastest.

@@mataralmuhairi2402 That was years ago when it was in beta. FYI... they are beginning to launch satellites as we speak that are just aimed at telecommunication and Tmobile as well will be using Starlink later this year for voice and text as well.
