I used to get Bentellect’s shorts in my feed a fair a bit, and since I don’t really use social media at all I enjoyed getting to see all the normie meme’s that were popular or going around. I didn’t really give a shit about his input because, as stated in the video, he just read out the tweet or post and laughed on the last word so there isn’t much “input” there. He was more of a curator of normie meme’s for me. However I remember when the controversy about him popped off a while back I suddenly, literally almost overnight, stopped getting his shorts recommended to me in my feed. I used to get Bentellect’s shorts in my feed a fair a bit, and since I don’t really use social media at all I enjoyed getting to see all the normie meme’s that were popular or going around. I didn’t really give a shit about his input because, as stated in the video, he just read out the tweet or post and laughed on the last word so there isn’t much “input” there. He was more of a curator of normie meme’s for me. However I remember when the controversy about him popped off a while back I suddenly, literally almost overnight, stopped getting his shorts recommended to me in my feed. Since all that popped off, I honestly can’t even remember the last time I saw one of his shorts. He kinda just dropped out of my/the algorithm entirely.
Everyone on the internet pretends to be "the holy cow, Mr. Nice guy, community guidelines approved, and blue mark certified..." and it's focking discosting, almost as putrid as the sanitized version of social media we've been getting for the past 10 years. Reaction content thats just taking other people's work and pasting your face on it laughing is definitely harmful to other content creators. This is essentially robbing smaller creators who then get reduced money from their work, so this has a measurable impact on people financially, not just clout.
Asmon himself has a non-negligible effect on reducing views to other creators, as an example, i'm not going to watch sunnyV2's vid now and asmon isn't giving the guy much more exposure. i'd wager this video ends up having a negative effect on sunnyV2 than not.
