WOW This is an amazing process to watch, thank you so much. I think I counted 4 coats of paint. YOU ROCK!
Beautiful result. Such a pleasure to see a solid wood door being restored and reused. Nothing mass produced can match the look and feel of good wood.
Thank you for showing your hard work.
You can tell you have been doing this a good while an love ur job IT turned out looking brand new Well done
Love this. What an extraordinary amount of time saved ! And the results are perfect, liquids go into every tiny crack and holes that can be so difficult to get to with classic techniques!
I was surprised at how difficult it was to remove the varnish or paint or whatever, but i think cos i'd heard of dipping i assumed it would require an extremely caustic substance that instantly took of all the paint in one go. Maybe there is a thing that does that.
So many concerns about this method …. No mask or respirator? No real protective eye gear , a few times I saw no gloves … hard worker for sure ! ,, love from sunny Florida ☀️💕
If the door went from an alkaline dip to an acid , they are neutral, as both chemicals neutralize each other. At that point it's safe on the skin.
What chemicals are used when??
2 hours , tell me about the tanks, I want to set up here in Hamilton Ontario Canada
Labor and chemical intensive. Is it worth it vs a new door or is this mostly for preservation / reuse of antique furniture as opposed to changing the color or stain?
Virtually all new doors are veneered, which makes a very stable door but original growth solid wood is far superior in many ways. So a new door would be cheaper, but a new door of this same quality would be many times more expensive than this refinishing process, if it can be had at any price.
How long before door is completely dry?
Approximately twenty four hours.

I watched your video on the door stripping.
We are having 3 doors done- "1926" how long will we allow for these doors to dry before hanging back.
Video was amazing, i can appreciate the amount of time and effort went into your work.
Thank you for video.
Australia 😊
That amount of water will not affect the door ?
No, You just have to let it dry in a controlled environment
So THATS why it's so expensive.... it takes ALOT of work!!!!!
Wow how much does one door cost to do$
In New York City a modern size interior door costs about $250 to strip. A large exterior door with four panels like this one might be more...
What is in the tanks?
First Tank is Methalyne Chloride, Second Tank is Sodium Hydroxide and Third Tank is Oxilic Acid
@@Digitalscrapbookmedia Are these chemicals dangerous? (Thank you)
@@gilessteve Not if used properly
@@gilessteve it's all about concentration. Oxalic acid is the main ingredient in bar keepers friend. But yes, they all can be. They also all neutralize each other, (acid/base etc) so after a rinse and another dip the chemicals go neutral. But it's absolutely something to let the pros do lol
surely a little mask will be appreciated by your lungs ?
