Thank you for react to this video. Fazley Roslan one of the best spiker in Malaysia if not the world. As u can see, there are 3 different spike from him. 1. Roll spike. The idea is to flip the body but transform the strength on the leg to kick the ball. This is the most entertaining spike skill because its combined gymnastic, martial art, volleyball n soccer in a single move. That what they call rool spike. Fazley Roslan is a left legged. During his spike, he lifts n floats his right leg. Then flip his body then slam the ball with his full of strength. Then BAMMM the ball trajectory will go with high velocity!!! 2. Sunback spike. To do so, lift 1 leg then swing another leg to hit the ball. This spike is lesser in power but more brilliant movement. Spiker can see the blocker and shift/place the ball in unmarked court easily. This movement also need less energy compare to the roll spike. But the special of this spike, it can be done quickly (refer some other video for this one) depending on the feeder creativity. 3. Flip tap. It used to be done during roll spike. The idea is to lift n float 1 leg similar to roll spike. But this leg will tap the ball slowly just strong enough to place it in unmarked court. The blocker was thinking the ball will be spiked by other leg. But the other leg will be used as a landing leg (pls refer the video) So this is from my point of view as a sepak takraw fan. Before I forget without 2 more player which is feeder n tekong, sepak takraw will mean nothing. Vote sepak takraw for Olympics...
This is what I call aerial duels. Many other Asians and now the Europeans like this sport. Therefore, this game needs more exposure to people in the West. I just watched a video of a Canadian expat who traveled and lived in Malaysia and Thailand, now coaching young talents in Canada. Great job.
Hi Don..i prayed to God that you and your family also everybody in the world..wherever they are well and always safe and protected against the covid pandemic that we are combating right now all over the world. what I loved the most watchin a roll spike move is when they jump and when they about to turn and spike..they were like suspended in the air..and that gymnasting thing you said..that is how a SPIKER trained!!it helps him/her to improve his jumping skills and technics. and so that he can jump higher than his/her opponents blocker etc...
Dons please react to khairol zaman another great player from malaysia. He's a bit short in height which is quite a disadvantage for a killer/striker but he still managed to be one of the best players in the game.

those days they used the hard rattan ball ..a bit oily and you need to wear double socks to cushion your ankle..go and try it with Gajah Madja ball..it will hit hard your head and legs

This guys have been playing since they were young, their hyper-mobility comes at an early age. For older people wanting to learn to play this game is at a disadvantage, like gymnastics. For other countries wanting to learn you'll have to teach them young.
Sepak Takraw striker need acrobatics style, nobody can do if not playing from early stage. not like playing football. A lot of training needed. this is malaysia legend 1 times ago, since malaysia dominating takraw games, fyi as before the ball for takraw we use from rotan (rattan) , not plastic as now use, malaysia are really good in rattan ball then suddenly change to plastic. abit dissapointed on that because thailand get advantage on that. but malaysia does have complain but base on majority vote, malaysia failed. so malaysia are not regret and try to adapt with the new ball.
Former use rotan in Thai call "vai" Thailand win all times,until change to plastic ball Malaysia can win over Thailand in seagame 2 or 3 times,Thailand come back to number 1 with Serve behind the feet and roll spike 360

@@TheDonsChannel do you realize that the takraw ball originally is rattan woven. Nowadays they use some sort of harden plastic. Need no air pump. Also it is very easy to carry and no need to worry about water damages.

I always felt very nervous when watching takraw players land after doing their spike or block as i injured my right knee due to bad landing.
