Thanks for the video Clayton. I tried this last year but it was just too late in the season so I'll try again here in a couple days. One thing that seemed to work well was where we tied on to the plate we went through both sides of the lip for some added strength and also used a one hole punch instead of a knife. The nice round hole seemed to give it some more strength. Happy fishing everyone!

I use two pie pans and clip them together open face to open face. 3 clips each. Jam a pencil between the two rims once clipped together to create 3 openings. Then no holes are needed. They stack up nicely and you get a few years out of them.

That was good, thanks for giving information on different things related to fishing. Hope you put out a detailed video on where to look for walleyes in the shallows, especially if you don’t have side imaging.

Cool. I’ll have to try it. I know there is lots of leaches in the local trout pond. The trout and walleye are super well fed. Ill probably take the drive to Sakakawea. I wasn’t super thrilled about buying leaches.

HAH!! It's all good, it's one of those things that you still need the time for and maintaining and taking care of them all summer. It's still cheaper to hit the bait store if you just need baits once 'N' while. Cheers!!

Many years ago I had an Il. conservation officer show me a trap for leaches. He took corrugated cardboard, then soaked it until it pulled apart . He laid it back in the water , one piece on top of the other in a swampy looking area. Nothing else. He told me to come back in the morning and check it. To my amazement the leaches swam into the ribs on the cardboard where we filled our bait bucket. I have never heard of this since. It was 50 years ago. Anyone ever heard of it?

You don"t need to cut holes in the plate the leeches will go in the seam where the two sides come together. I use liver and it only takes a small piece the size of a perogy.

Don't feel so bad asking now since this is your full time job now lol, but I'm looking to try summer lake trout fishing, the places ill be going to are 95ft and 200 foot troughs respectively (NY finger lakes). Any tips how to catch them? I've had no luck dropping spoons and tubes down last year. How deep do they cruise around in the summer? I was thinking of trolling with dipsy divers.

They won't be in every pond, but something that has had water for a long time and never dries out. Right now the water has been really cold and the leeches have not been in full force yet. You can find a couple little gems though and have more than enough for personal use :)
