Remember Klonoa for the PlayStation? Well that game is also kinda depressing, and also the graphics of course kind of look similar to Mischief Makers but has 3D backgrounds, making this a 2.5D experience. Also I never knew the N64 can produce graphics like this! Not to mention the backgrounds! (I know Yoshi’s Story exists, but the Mischief Makers looks so impressive. And it was made before Yoshi’s Story existed! Why didn’t this game do better!?) I wonder if Square Enix might revive this game someday.
Klonoa is one of my favourite games for the playstation. Spent all my free time over 2-3 days to beat it 100 % :D Cried a bit at the end. Would recommend! Great design in general for levels and bosses.
Ah, Wallman, I was an idiot, my first time through, and somehow reached him without ever realising I could steal enemy glyphs... You totally should have used that one special equipable that display an enemy's remaining HP instead of the damage dealt to really showcase his *indestructible* nature x)

Glad to see another Alundra enthusiast. REALLY DEPRESSED about the series' situation. I'm hoping to see it get import to a modern console like the Switch. OR SOMETHING, don't do something to make it like Alundra 2
Mischief Makers is my jam. And part of that is because I spent a year and a half getting all the S-Ranks, which are 1) frankly ridiculous and 2) proof that when the game released and one of the complaints was that the game was too easy, they didn't even TRY. Anyways, when I first got to the boss, I was, in fact, stumped by how to win. Despite the fact that what you do is your bred and butter in the game.
My favorite weird boss is the Computer Virus from Kirby Super Star. You're just minding your own business going through the Great Cave and suddenly windows start appearing and you're in an RPG battle with an 8-bit version of the boss theme. It's not the hardest boss fight by any means, since you can block the enemy's attacks without much trouble and they leave themselves wide open when it's your turn, but I love the meaningless stat boosts you get after winning, such as Tenderness, Appetite and Exam Score. In the remake, when playing as Meta-Knight, he gets his own stat boosts, such as Coolness, Mask Shine and Dreaminess.
the pain of getting stuck in a wall would be basically getting crushed from all directions, pretty much pain levels of an explosion that never ends but your body isnt torn apart but instead it quickly gets destroyed by the wall i think, and even if its a weak wall you would have a literal wall inside of you. basically youre dead
Good ol' Mischief Makers. Criminally underrated and unused. That might not even be the weirdest boss, since earlier you beat a cat in a dodgeball competition before riding it into battle against a gun-toting wolf warrior who has a giant transforming mecha-cycle.
Way back then I couldn't wait to get to the Penkinos boss fight because I loved their look on the cover art too (they are the reason I drew a lot of characters in top hats with mustaches as a child, because I misinterpreted their bow-ties). But played it on easy mode, in which you actually skip over their fight. Then when I actually did fight them for the first time I did really badly against them for some reason, their stars just kept hitting me too often when things got chaotic. So I did the tedious thing and just finished them off slowly one after the other.
I remember the nighmare that was the final boss of smooth moves i spend 3 days retrying the mini wario mode just to figure out what the heck to do in the final minigame and after i knew and completed smooth moves i said to myself "Never doing THAT again"
Pac Man World honestly has a couple of contenders for this list. Not one, but two bosses completely changes the gameplay style for that level alone (clown prix and king galaxian).
Blood vs Cure? Really? Man I hate that...I can't stand people considering blood to be something bad. And if this is a japanese game, I wouldn't be surprised that to be a weird translation censorship or something. Blood is basically the life energy of a person. How can you consider it "bad"... Fun story about myself and blood: one of my biggest pet peeves in fiction is blood being censored (be it by not drawing/animating it at all, or by "erasing" it when a localization is made) - that's very frequent in western animation, though in old anime localizations then often heavily modified the thing so blood and death were censored. Anyway, blood was almost always censored in everything back when I was a young kid. And it freaked me out SO MUCH. I grew up with a mom who never hid the scary things from me, but explained them and so on. And she never shied away from more mature subjects. And so, from a very young age, I knew what blood was, how important it was and so on. But I was still I kid. I could understand the importance of blood, and that loosing blood is a problem, and also that an injury may cause you to loose blood and you have to see a doctor ASAP. I'm sure you can see it coming, right? When I saw a character getting hurt but no blood coming out, I always thought something like "No! He's not bleeding from his wound - he has lost all of his blood already! They won't be able to save him anymore!". And that traumatised me SO BADLY. Even if the character survived in the end. And when I grew up a bit, it the total lack of realism began to bother me more than stress me out per se. But in the end, the mix of all the bad memories of characters not bleeding from my early childhood mixed with my frustration with it when getting older made that into one of the things I hate the most. It breaks my immersion more than anything else.
I think the more fitting thing to change to Cure would be something like Virus or Sick. I would say Disease but that might be a bit too long of a word.
@@konoikurozora5851 people think of blood as negative thing especially in games, because most of the time when someone say "game with blood" you will think of a violent game like a fighting game with ton of blood, horror game with blood etc in fact that can also be applied to other things like movies and series. if it is right or not i don't know i am just explaining
I wonder if Raihan could count as a weird boss based on your criteria. He's the only leader who uses the double battle format during his gym battle. He also claims to be the dragon-type gym leader, but most of his team isn't dragon-type. He also uses the weather gimmick to make him just a little bit more unique. Opal has her question gimmick too. I really wish that the gym battles in Sword/Shield were more difficult, because I think it would be my favorite Pokemon game if it gave me a decent challenge.
Of the two I would argue Opal makes more sense as Raihan the first isn't Gym Leader has used the double battle format, nor is he the first gym leader to use types other than their specialty type. Really all that leaves is his weather gimmick, which in the case of sandstorm I don't think has been used in main series Pokemon, and that's even true if we count the Orre games. So in the sense that he uses Sandstorm I agree but I can't really say the other parts make him a weird boss.
Say whoisthisgit: Have you played any Rhythm Heaven games before? That final boss at the end of the video seemed like it'd fit in well for that game series.
So, weird, easy, difficult, and fun boss fights are nice and all, but how about secret bosses?
