    Clarification about Aether Avatar, even though Occult Technomancy spells require level 5, you only need 4 points * 1.3 tree mastery -> 5.2 effective talent level. 1 point in Heavy Armor Training to make heavy gloves/boots/helmets wearable. !!! EoR final boss doesn't teleport when losing sight, only on 15+ tiles distance !!!
    Text version of leveling template:

    Kudos on the win!! I do enjoy the EoR campaign but damn it feels rough with some classes. I only have just the one win, Archmage, too. But I went with the Thaumaturgy prodigy. Pretty fun stuff. The final battle indeed feels pretty unfair, you can cheese it by digging on the bottom part of the screen and aggro the priest from there in a little corridor and then you whack him till he's dead and thus avoid being tp'd.

    Love this game and love your channel! I play ToME casually (the 5 or so lives mode) to satisfy power fantasies (I'm an aetherwalk temporal warden abuser) and explore the wonderful world building in the game. Please keep making more videos! Its a great day for me when you do.

    I think the problem with the Embers of Rage end boss is just how long it takes and how tedious the mechanics are. If they were tweaked in a way that retained the difficulty and lessened the monotony, the fight would be immeasurably better. Also, I'm not a fan of feeling like you need to use a wiki mid-game, and this fight definitely failed on that front. I like the concept, but the execution was needlessly complex.
    I think thematically as well EoR doesn't quite hit the same spot for me that the original campaign does. I don't really care about Orc lore and while I understand the narrative choice of making us play as the race we spent a dozen hours fighting in ToME, we were fighting them for a reason. They were clearly the aggressors and cutting a swathe through the Prides was...a point of pride. Not to mention slaughtering the Gates of Morning simply felt like a betrayal. Gameplay-wise though, you are right, and it was fun to go through the campaign (once) and do all the unlocks. That being said, now that I have all the unlocks, I'm probably just never going to play it again.

      I was wrong about one important part, the boss only teleports you on 15+ tiles away from it, not by breaking line of sight. So there are more decisions/options than I thought.

    I just started playing EOR recently because I want to unlock Annihilator & Psyshot. Only having the Warrior metaclass & Sawbutcher + Gunslinger is pretty rough, I've been having a tough time getting a character going.

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  5 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I remember the feeling.
      I did my first runs of EoR on Nightmare and ended up having the most success with Sawbutcher, lvl 38 was my best attempt back then. te4.org/characters/266609/tome/29b5f64d-4ae1-456a-9a26-88a3313d8e21
      It's also a fairly simple class, where you just bump into enemies.
      But that's also what soured the experience of EoR for me originally, I did not find Gunslinger very interesting, Sawbutcher/Berserker/Bulwark get old quickly and most of the unlocks are in the second half of the game.
      If Arcane Blade is available, that's probably what I would recommend. A lot of the early game enemies are melee, but don't have great gap closers, so it should be easier, as that's the part of the game, where AB just casts Lightning spells from range.
      It's a complex class, but I have a video on it, if you'd need any pointers: ua-cam.com/video/3DUVohcECXk/v-deo.html

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  5 місяців тому +1

      Just in case I baited you into going Arcane Blade, I just realized it could be more difficult to transition into melee, since you might not be able to find a 1H staff for a while, since you drop much less gear.
      Maybe it's best to just ignore all the melee talents until then and go full Archmage cosplay. With Arcane Amplification Drone at 25, it might work at least until the Internment Camp.
      Nothing is easy in EoR...

    1:02 - First, one minor correction: warriors are unlocked by default in EoR; you unlock all other classes instead.
    28:30 - Now, here I believe you (and the guide you used) are COMPLETELY wrong about the Mouth of Amakhtel (and, subsequently, the whole fight itself). The Mouth only cares about the DISTANCE, not the sight: when you are about 15 tiles away from it, you get teleported - that's it.
    I've beaten that campaign like 6 times on Insane, and I don't think there was a single time when I was teleported to the Mouth because of sight. There are videos of this fight on my channel where I use cover a lot and even deliberately block my LoS to the Mouth with skills and I NEVER got teleported because of it.
    Once you know how to keep your distance from the Mouth properly, this fight is really quite easy compared to Argoniel&Elandar IMO. It's not perfect, but I like this sort of elaborate boss fight with unique mechanics, while A&E feel more like fighting yet another Arsemage and Reaver for the 10545045604th time but on steroids.

      Also, 48:40 - tier 5 salves clean 3 debuffs; not sure why you didn't craft those.

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  5 місяців тому +1

      That would make a lot more sense.
      I did try to walk behind one of the pillars and got teleported, so I thought it must be right and I didn't even bother Stone Walling. That makes me less resistant to trying it with other classes.
      And yeah I should've upgrade the salves, the game went by so quickly and I felt so overpowered after I got Technomancer, that I didn't even think of it.

    A little sad to see arcane eye rated so low. It's an amazing talent which can negate stealth/invisible enemies, since often guaranteed crit + bonus crit multi from stealth enemies might oneshot you. At a higher level you can cast it on particularly nasty enemy you've scouted with track, to know their position all the time, since the cooldown is shorter than duration and it's instant. Great for corner sniping with AoE spells while staying out of Line of Sight. And you can even cast it on yourself to get see invisibility/stealth reveal! But I guess on difficulties below madness it isn't that necessary.
    It's been a while Since I've played archmage, but I see that things meta tree was reworked, rip 30% spell cooldown reduction sustain. About injectors: don't know if it also has been reworked/fixed, but device mastery reduced their cooldowns.

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  5 місяців тому

      I used to love putting 4 points in Arcane Eye, but I skipped it once and realized I don't miss it that much. I don't value the invisibility removal, since I felt like I have Mirror Image to deal with the enemy, if I spot it with Track first and if you're lazy and don't use it constantly, it doesn't help with getting ambushed.
      Now that you mentioned it, that justification does kind of sound a bit like a luxury of Insane haha
      That's a great tip about Device Mastery working on Injectors, it sounds like it would work.
