This is exactly what i want to do in my flat (limited space🙁) but planning on using laminate worktop 1.75m x 900mm but its heavy so I think I will need 4 folding brackets (24inch) but I think I will need to weld a bar joining all four brackets so they can all be released at the same time And as I am useless at diy your video helped me visualise what it can look like! Thanks😀👍
You are very talented! Some of us however do not have access to the plethora of tools that you have, so what you are able to do is a far cry from what others can achieve. I admire your skilled handling of both materials and power tools.

To be honest, I've never really worked with hard wood. Tend to work with cheaper soft woods, but it wouldn't have done the boat's interior any justice. Technically, the rest is ash, but I think I just managed to get away with it :) And I'm definitely not brilliant on first takes 😂 I wish I was! But it's usually the intro and find I need to do some warming up lol
Very nice project, it looks to have a very professional finish. By the way I could do with a dad that has a wood yard, as I am a woodworker that has a daughter, especially at the moment, I shudder to think how much that oak would have cost.
Great job on the desk i think you can still make it longer if you want, just remake the top longer and get a third bracket to extend it and support the weight. Nicely done 👍

Thanks! I did see someone do exactly that when I researched it. They had a single bracket on the side and the table wasn't that wide. But they'd created a white box type shelf that dropped down.
Great job. Only thing I would have done differently was to rip those round over edges before you inserted the biscuits as it would give you better joints and bigger glueing area
Nice job, for the varnished table top I recommend a product called osmo clear satin finish its not water based and is more durable product made in Germany and available from all good timber merchants and suppliers in the U.K., 2.5 ltr tin around £60 to £70 not cheap but nothing good ever is. Enjoying the videos wish I had a boat 😢

I would been nervous that those screws might have went straight through the wall and Pearce’s the side of the boat. I assume the boat hasn’t leaked since installing the hinges? 😉 ❤️
The steel's so thick there, the screws would have snapped sooner I bet. But luckily I knew my limit as there's gaps I could measure under both the bathroom and kitchen sink where he waste pipe goes out :)
You will find wood screws will struggle to break through steel plate. Have hit metal work in the past hidden behind behind woodwork a few times in the past.
Hi Vikkie! I’m a total beginner, but have been planning on building a desk top in the same manner you did. One question I have is I’ve seen several videos tell me not fully glue the end boards, as they need to have some give for the lengthways boards to expand. What are your thoughts on this? I’d much rather make as you did since it’s so much simpler than making sliding mortise and tenon joints.
My Dad tends to say don't clamp tongue and groove together too much, say on a gate for that reason. But I can't see any issues gluing and clamping, provided it's seasoned.

Hi Vikkie. Are you able to recommend a stud finder please, one that _actually_ works? I've bought a couple over the years and every time I've switched them on it's felt like I was still guessing. Thanks.
Sadly this is the only one I've ever used. It may have got things wrong near the right side's trim. It's so annoying not being able to confirm without taking the panel off.

Thanks! You can honestly just do this with a hand saw, dowel joins and a sander :) Or find a larger piece of material as a desk top and save time 😊

Buy some GT85 and use that to stop the noise from the brackets, it has ptfe in it and will last a lot longer than WD40.
