Getting the cut wet reduces the friction on the blade, makes cutting rubber much easier. Try it in the future. Just keep your hands completely out of the way of the blade path as the blade can slice through surprisingly fast when the cut is wet with water .
Seeing you struggle cutting that thing; I think I would of tried using a electric wood saw to cut it! You could easily slip and hurt yourself with that kind of pressure to move that blade. Maybe a electric turkey knife.
While you were taking life easy in Spokane we were busy hoisting icy gin and tonics at the Priest Lake resorts right across the state line in Idaho. Lol! Our summer excursion has been altered to dodge heat waves! And that's been a full time job!
The brother's company that makes Roll a Cot camp cot is Camptime.com. These cots are absolutely the most comfortable and best built camping cots on the market. Built to last and great customer service. I have 3 and so happy to hear they are busy and surviving this Covid economy.
That heat dome was no joke! This is our family too - there’s usually a project(s) + visit. Ahh, your creative skills & energy runs in the family! The Spokane / CdA / Sandpoint areas have so many great memories attached for me. I grew up right across the border. Hoping we’ll be able to do our Labo(u)r Day swoop through WA / ID. Great video as always!
Love, Love, Love the family videos. Regardless of age, distance apart, or differences. Family is family. Cherish, hold tight and keep making memories. Those principles have enriched our family beyond measure. Of course, after viewing your video I’m not telling you something you don’t already know. Enjoy 🙏
Debbie, thanks for the video to help us remember our 4 weeks working at the factory. We do like our Soft Start, and we paid list price - my praise is heat felt about their customer support. When we first arrived we only had a 30amp service, and with the heat wave it was wonderful to have both AC's running.. We would like to suggest a work/camp at our place in Colorado.... :)
Thank you for your warm curtain instructions. Thanks to you, while it was 107 outside we were a comfortable 72 inside our plateau ts! Your curtains are amazing!
My husband snd son cut our horse stall mat with a hacksaw after 2 days of degassing. We’re on a trip to Oshkosh, WI from Spokane. We haven’t tried them yet but are looking forward to it. There have been too many hot days this summer in Spokane. Looks like you had a productive visit.
@@FromShetoMe Thank you for the information, I enjoy following you and John on your adventures which have inspired me to travel and know I could travel in a small rig and have everything thing I need. I love my 2018 Ascent !
We came through Spokane on June 30 heading west. It was 110 at 4 p.m. We kept going to Moses Lake and took a spot at a private campground where we could get 30-amp power for the AC. We ran it until we went to sleep; The next day we headed to Seattle and when we went over Snoqualamie Pass the temperature dropped 30 degrees! Those successive heat domes were difficult to navigate!
Hi Debbie, My husband and I are huge fans of your videos and have watched just about all of them! Yours are the best!! We've been van camping for many years, first in our VW Westfalia Vanagon then in our VW Eurovan, which we've just put up for sale, because we bought a Roadtrek Zion. We agree with you that these camping vans are a great way to travel. I also sew and admit to being more than a little envious of you working in your brother's workshop :) I'm hoping to make a pattern for the front windows of our new ProMaster and am familiar with Sailrite, but would rather buy in the wider fabric your brother has. Once I figure out how much I need, would it be possible to just buy the screen from him. Your blanks wouldn't work on our vehicle. I'm also going to contact a screen company I've used to replace screens in our house (metroscreenworks) to see if they have anything that would work in case your brother doesn't want to be inundated with orders. If my screen works out, I'd be happy to share my pattern for the ProMaster if I can figure out how to distribute it. Anyway, thanks for all you do! Ronni (lovetocello on UA-cam)
When you figure out how much you need, just let me know and I will coordinate with him. It is $10/ yard plus shipping. Mine requires 4 yards and I’m guessing yours will be in that neighborhood. His fabric is 72” wide. Insect netting is not what you want. The binding from Sailrite is quite stiff. You’ll need a sharp needle and an edge binder will help. Let me know if you have any questions. I can give you some suggestions. Energymaven@gmail.com
Another great video! Curious if you have a link to the horse mat that you purchased. All of them I'm finding on Amazon that are the size you mentioned seem to be twice the price you quoted. Thanks!!
We just stopped at a feed store and got the thickest one they had. I’m sure the price difference is due to shipping. Or maybe you can find a stable that is getting rid of an old one.
@@FromShetoMe Yeah, I should definitely check locally. I guess I didn’t realize the original purpose of these, even though you did call them horse mats. 😀
Thanks for another great video. Do you store the leveling mats inside your van? I'm wondering if the rubber smell lingers and would smell if stored inside my van.
This question has nothing to do with this video, but I recall you once used, for lack of a better word, a Back Pack on the rear doors of your RV. I am trying to look at them to see if it will work for us. Can you recall the brand or which video it was in? Thank you.
DEBBIE& JOHN. Hello, nice to help your brother & at same time figure out useful stuff for your Motorhome , that lady in blue with the RAM, was that a petrol. Or diesel? Their diesel, is from FIAT, whom owns CHRYSLER, the water level in LAKE MEADE, is @ its LOWEST LEVEL EVER, it is going to shut down the hydro electricity there !, I pray for rain out your way nightly , the fires are unbelievable, & a SHORTAGE OF JET-A FUEL for firefight on TANKERS for those fires . BTW, what is diesel costing you on the left coast ? It’s over $4 /gal here in NJ, happy trails, stay well , SAT24thwill be my 80th birthday , 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It’s over $4 but cheaper than regular these days. We don’t pay enough for the value it gives us. As far as water goes, you wouldn’t know there is a drought for all the green lawns around here. That’s another commodity that we don’t value properly. But like all the big issues we face, we treat them like technical issues when they are behavioral issues.
Where was Cousin Eddie as the “shitters” full! Like the “Soft Start” air connection and would be nice for the PW vehicles. Thanks for the family video and good that you get together and got some work done. Oh, it’s going to 102 again Sunday and bugs still crawling!
We use it instead of the awning because it works better if there is any wind. The awning will retract with the slightest breeze. Moreover, it can be placed on either side or even the back. You can also hang things from it like we did with the shower curtains to give extra sun protection/privacy. We've been using it for a couple of years now and would purchase again. Of course, if the wind is too strong, it will detach from the van. The magnets can scratch the paint but it also comes with suction cups. If you are short, you may need a ladder to place it high enough. The sliding door can only be partly opened when it is in use (but it is enough to get in and out) unless you leave the door fully opened. I'd love to get the awning removed as it weighs 200 pounds (but then we'd have to store it somewhere).
LOL. You aren’t insane but maybe realized you only have one life. Yes, we would recommend them. They don’t crack like all the others. They are heavy though. We are carrying 10 on this trip. I suggest you make 10-12 and then try them on a few trips. You may decide you need a few in different lengths. In a pinch you can also use rocks where available.
At the end of the video, John made me laugh. Oh man, the temperature sounds hot. Stay cool. David loves loves the camping chair with the back rest that we got from your Amazon store which is made by your brother. We will try to include the chair in our future videos. Love the music you used when you went biking. It’s one of my favorites.
I feel like a fool now. When I picked up my almost empty used cargo van to build out, the first thing I did was remove the weight of the cow mats that were on the floor. Should have cut some of it into strips. Two years too late.

We carry them in the back. They off gassed for a few weeks but are fine now.
