There’s a soft spot in my heart for anime movies. For one, they inspire a higher level of production than the standard tv anime. But mainly, with so many tv anime not having a completed story, it’s just nice to have everything in one uninterrupted package.
Here’s some of my reccs that deserve more love:
    - Maboroshi
    - Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
    - Patema Inverted
    - Drifting Home
(Also I was surprised how long Liz and the Blue Bird flew under my radar before I watched it, as it was phenomenal.)

4:16 so glad you showed the tunnel to summer here when saying this because oh my god i have never been more disappointed by a movie in my life... especially when the source novel is one of my favourite books of all time... the movie literally cuts half of it out 😭

@@sinchisan 100%. here's a few things that were cut/changed, but there's way more than this:
      - the tunnel is an actual tunnel, not the water-tree-cave mess in the movie
-kawasaki (the bully girl) has a proper redemption arc that involves tono and hanashiro going to her house to deliver homework, and then hanashiro breaks her character apart. she's just putting on a mask and when hanashiro punched her it all shattered
-kawasaki is the one to invite hanashiro to the summer festival, who then invites tono, so it's the 3 of them
-the summer festival isn't a montage in the book lol, they actually do a lot. tono spots his mother in the crowd and chases after her. she sees him and shows the most disgusted, horrified face possible which triggers tono's fight-or-flight so he runs back to kawasaki and hanashiro and hugs hanashiro
-there is no secret spot that tono and karen go to in the summer festival, they're just on a big field with a bunch of other people
-karen's death day isn't told in the book, it was actually hanashiro who picked the entry date for the tunnel
-the last 20 minutes is horrific. it's almost completely changed (i mean it). they completely remove the epilogue and hanashiro waits 8 years instead of 5 for some reason....
-rewatch those last 20 minutes. anything with a phone or texting NEVER happened in the book.
-and how could i forget? any scene with an umbrella never happened in the novel, which includes how they first meet. yeah, they changed that too
again, there is SO much more i haven't covered yet lol

Gonna be watching all of these movies after the semester ends! Already watched Kagami and Tunnel, they were pretty nice! Read the manga of those and they flesh their characters out a bit!

One of the good things about anime movies is that the animators get to sleep and showcase their true potential and creativity.
