Yet, millions of her fans still honor and celebrate her music.
As for the man she loved, Chris Perez, he says not a day goes by that he doesn't think of her.
I'm really happy right now with everything going on, said Perez.
At 45, Perez is working as hard as ever.
He splits his time recording music in San Antonio and Miami.
He also spends a lot of time in Corpus Christi with his two children from his second marriage and with the family of Selena.
We're really tight, he said. We like to spend time with each other when we can.
Perez still considers them family

His love for her is so strong. In an 1997 interview he even said when Selena died. He lost half of himself and nothing will ever fill it that he feels empty. I do not think anyone can ever replace her for him Their connection was so strong.
There's things in life that you sometimes can't recover from and this is one of them. He's been heartbroken since Selena died. And I don't think he will ever be truly be happy until they meet again where Selena will be waiting for him on the other side.
I was a fan before her death, and I still cant bare to see her on clips without crying. Indeed Chris did remarry, but ended up in divorce because his true true love is not with us anymore. No one could ever replace Selena in his eyes

"She wasn't done." To me, that's the saddest part. Losing someone so beautifully talented as Selena is of course tragic, but the bigger tragedy is all that could've been. The boutiques would've expanded, she would've become the world's biggest female pop singer, she would have sold out stadiums in every corner of the world. She would've had that farm, she and Chris would've had their big family, and she could be here now, promoting her new MAC makeup line! I miss her so much, but in the end, I'm so proud of what she did in life, and how we still celebrate her today.

People have to try to move on after someone dies I'm sure there are days when it gets really hard for him because he is still in love with her I was close to my dog but had to put him down and a few years later i got another dog and I'm very close to her and love her to death just because people move on it doesn't mean the pain is gone

12 year olds are probably crying, thinking, "OMG BUT GOMEZ WAS MY ROLE MODEL!" No, this is the truly different one. While both are truly beautiful, this one is iconic. Gomez is precious, we all are, but this Selena had so much to offer. We probably wouldn't even known who JLO was without the truly timeless death, making so many people, whether of Mexican heritage or not, feel like they just lost their true best friend. She's up there with Lennon and Monroe. A true original with a beautiful mind, to make you turn yours. They didn't call her "Queen of Taejo" and "Mexican Madonna", for nothing.

I often thought of how hard Selena worked from childhood to the awesome artist she was and still is.. She never stopped moving on stage and that all had to be rehearsed before the performances. She seemed to have endless energy and gave her all to her fans and family.
