I paid 3500 dollars to get all my lifters replaced and I’ve had this ticking noise intermittently and I was kinda worried telling myself there’s no way it’s soo tricky because it’s sounds literally like the lifters are taking a shit but after you warm the vehicle up it goes away won’t happen again totally helped figure out what’s happening thank you very much for making this video
Wow...that kind of service would get you fired here in Wichita at the major dealerships. They don't tolerate that kind of disservice Glad you found the problem and got it fixed.
You raise a very good point I’m looking at an 08 Yukon XL 1500 that has a significant ticking noise. The under said he believes it could be a bad lifter, but this reason is a new point.
Glad you were able to fix that brake vacuum pump booster assist. Its dangerous when they lose vacuum pressure. The electronic brake control module will not assist the vehicle to sense that there is no assist needed while braking. A hard brake peddle will be felt and you will pump the brake and you will not be able to slow or even stop the vehicle. So sad when not one dealership will care about the circumstances. Does not matter if vehicle was looked at early in a tsb either at the dealership. The dealership cannot even assure you that vehicle will have no affected problems in the future too. So sad that folks have crash their vehicles without any brake assist on this engineering design. So sorry about your loss of grattitude when the dealership said they would not fix other items during the warranty period. Even though the customer pays for it. Any safety recall should be verified completed by the dealership always. 😢
I have a 2019 tahoe and they have told me the same thing. I will be taking it back, what else do I need to present since I still have warranty. Thanks a million!
That sucks my 2014 sierra 1500 sle 4x4 is now @ 200,000 miles and is all original except brakes, tires & electronic 4x4 shift module @ 160,000 just regular maintenance. About to change my ATF & filter for the 4th time here...
Buddy had a 6.2 lifter failure. They literally replaced the lifters ...but not 100 k later same issue but they had not changed the cam and the old lifter had wiped the cam lobe out . Literally didn't even make it home . Another chevrolet dealership did the valves and the cam and actually called out the other dealership on the crappy work
😅 glad it’s not the lifters Question did you notice hearing this tick inside the vehicle while driving ? I think I may have this problem It’s not loud or obnoxious or nothing that signifies take it to the shop right away and can be overlooked but the tick is there when I’m driving along in silence and apply pressure to the gas paddle . If I leave the vehicle running in park and hop out I can definitely hear it. like I say it’s not loud but once i hear it I can’t un-hear it . Many will say they don’t hear anything but I can. I’m gonna run this issue past the dealer hopefully they don’t challenge me on this and try to make me look like I’m going crazy or try to perform unnecessary repairs . usually when you have some knowledge of the issue they’ll deal with it thanks for the info
@@InquiryInsight247 Hey 👋🏽… actually I have not but I am planning to soon my oil change is bout due so I’ll have them check it out . The sound is so faint I forget it’s there at times . I really only notice whn it’s running and I’m standing right next to front driver side of the truck
Any recommendations for a local (i live in florence, sc) delorean mechanic? Cold start issues. Took to delorean in Orlando, running perfect. Lasted about a month and wont start again. Thanks.

question. did the original ticking go away after the engine warmed up? I have a 2018 sierra with the 5.3 engine that has the active fuel management system and we did the lifters and cam and I got this ticking noise after the replacement. I'd hate go tear it all apart again if this could be the culprit... I guess I have to pull out my stethoscope
forgot to mention that the ticking noise does get faster if you accelerate but after like 3k rpm the noise is audibly silenced until you come to idle then you hear it again and at slow speeds. does not go away if the engine is warmed up. I am not losing oil pressure
@@scarykiiid2993 Hey, I am having the same issue with 17 Denali. I immediately thought it was the lifters but am wondering if you found anything out yet before I start my process of getting it fixed
@@zacrocha8907 yeah I ended up having to replace all 16 lifters. It was just a headache of tearing it all apart trying to pin point if it was the lifters or not. There's not easy way to test lifters outside the engine. So I just bit the bullet and purchased the other 8 lifters for the driver side that I had not initially replaced. And once i did that no more noise once all the lifters built up the correct oil pressure after a few seconds. So all in all I replaced the following all 16 lifters( 8 active 8 non active) Oem camshaft Both head gaskets And I installed a AFM system disabler that you can look up on summit racing and Amazon for references and prices.
@@zacrocha8907 also be sure to replace all the lifter guide trays. That's 2 front and 2 rears. Bc the old trays may be worn from the oil and heat making play for the lifter and could lead to unexpected noises. 🙃

“We aren’t going to do anymore warranty work” lmao that’s not how that works
Lawsuit Time! But first, threaten with local media that offer consumer advocate help and might agree to air the problem on their channel.
Dealerships should know the pattern issues and failures of their vehicles.. they experience such problems more frequently than independent shops..
Wow! Due to break recall, they ended up replacing the vacuum pump. I wonder now after watching your vid if the pump is the culprit
Yeah my dad had a tahoe which I loved it was awesome but we never had problems but there was a recall on the vacuum pump we got and it was replace

My vacuum pump was out at 75k, 1st trans at 99k, 2nd trans at 187k.

Lifter taps sound about half as fast with this block's timing (around 5 per second), where this is like 10/sec.
Great to share this point. Some symptom, some persuade me to replace engine. hahaha Great deal only charge me 5000 bucks.!
This sound could come from leaking exaust manifold gasket

would removing the belt isolate the problem? for instance noise on start. remove belt noise either remains or disappears
Thanks bro this video is very helpful
Story of my life with my Jeep JL. Dealer can't replicate the issue, verbiage on how its "normal"
Thanks for the tip, good information to know, thanks for sharing.
Was it under warranty?
Dear how much the price of that pump?
