The burofax story is missing and how he was forced to stay during the Koeman era. Then the elections and how he was "used", only for him then to be forced to leave at the end of that season. The early comparisons with Ronaldo and the whole story prior to the 2009 Ballon d'Or covers a big part of the video, while the next 3 Ballon d'Or winning seasons are merged and exhibited through a couple of goals from each season. And the continuation of the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo on Spanish soil is not narrated enough. Judging by the chapter about Ronaldo, covering mostly the 2008-2009 period, I expected to see each Ballon d'Or and the narratives surrounding them in an equally in-depth illustration. Same with the culmination of the rivalry by 2018. But that expectation was not met. I loved the use of the mirror to depict the reality of Messi's career. Excellent creativeness and delivery. Could have come back to it to show how the story actually completely reversed and it was Argentina that filled him with joy, while his clubs gave him -almost exclusively- disappointments. And of course it is clear that there was nothing left for Messi to win, so he went to Miami to enjoy the rest of his football life, but I think it could have been even more eloquently presented by an illustration of a collection of Messi's trophies or a list of trophies, of which everything is checked. One "inaccuracy" is related to the defeat by Saudi Arabia at the start of the World Cup and the atmosphere around the team and the fans: Messi went straight to the camera and said to the fans to believe in the team. During the World Cup he was the most matured Messi we have ever seen. Every action on the pitch was calculated to perfection -almost. Of course he still needed the contribution of so many of his teammates for them to make it happen. But also he was a great leader on and off the pitch. He was Argentina's natural leader and didn't need the rest to encourage him. He only needed them to perform at an excellent level. As for the story of Messi's life... well, it is a proper fairy tale. The humble beginnings, the challenges right from the start, some benevolent luck that made him meet Barcelona and its people (Ronaldinho, Pep/Cruyffismo, and so many legendary teammates), and when new challenges appeared in Barcelona (& Argentina before that, making his story rather tragic up to that point), he escaped with a lot of pain but managed to find happiness in Argentina, saving the best for last! And so he lives happily ever after... So, beautiful job with the illustrations, the technique and creativity to put things together and to express ideas. Some things could have less details, some more... I understand a fully detailed "documentary" was not the goal. Such a thing would be hours long and at times maybe dull. Congratulations on this production, as it is near perfect, all things considered! And thank you so much for sharing it with us. You must be very proud of this work.
P.S.: Messi was considered by some as the greatest ever 10 years before the 2022 World Cup. And for me it is between him and Pele, but since I have watched only Messi live and I am emotionally attached to him, I pick Messi. So, Messi didn't need the World Cup to prove anything. The only reason why it is so satisfying that he eventually did it is because of his previous sufferings (being unable to replicate club football success with his National team, even though he tried so hard and got so close to achieving that so many times, but eventually kept failing and feeling miserable about it. So everytime he felt happy at the club, he was also sad due to Argentina's lost chances; and then when he finally tasted joy with the National team, he again had to feel pain! But this time due to club related issues) and how every normal football fan was convinced that Messi "deserved" to win a World Cup, that Messi deserved to have international success with Argentina. His perseverance and the eventual redemption serve as a great example for everyone; from children to adults. And then there is the absolute mastery that he showcased during the World Cup, purely in terms of football: the leadership, the calmness when he needed to show calmness, the passion when he needed to show passion and the ability to inspire both these states of mind to others, the impact in crucial moments, the chance creation, the ball protection, the energy conservation, the penalty conversion, the ball circulation, the dribbling progression... Messi was playing like a sage of football. Other versions of Messi have been described with words like "alien", "God", "football itself"... And I don't know which one I loved most. All I know is: when Messi plays like that, and if his teammates can keep up, nobody stands a chance when it comes to winning trophies and/or individual awards. Messi deserved the Ballon d'Or, as he also had a good season with PSG besides the WC and scored a free kick that practically won them the league. Messi even deserved or could have won many more things in football if it wasn't for some tough luck and tragic management by some people at Barcelona... Given that Messi is the man with the most trophies won in football history, this sounds ridiculous, but it is true! Thank you Messi for all the incredible moments, the memories, the emotions... Messi is infinite. In 6 years Messi will lift the Super Ballon d'Or. We must, however, start thinking about ways to properly honour his greatness in a fitting way once he retires.

Judging by the chapter about Ronaldo, covering mostly the 2008-2009 period, I expected to see each Ballon d'Or and the narratives surrounding them in an equally in-depth illustration. Same with the culmination of the rivalry by 2018. But that expectation was not met.
I loved the use of the mirror to depict the reality of Messi's career. Excellent creativeness and delivery. Could have come back to it to show how the story actually completely reversed and it was Argentina that filled him with joy, while his clubs gave him -almost exclusively- disappointments.
And of course it is clear that there was nothing left for Messi to win, so he went to Miami to enjoy the rest of his football life, but I think it could have been even more eloquently presented by an illustration of a collection of Messi's trophies or a list of trophies, of which everything is checked.
One "inaccuracy" is related to the defeat by Saudi Arabia at the start of the World Cup and the atmosphere around the team and the fans: Messi went straight to the camera and said to the fans to believe in the team. During the World Cup he was the most matured Messi we have ever seen. Every action on the pitch was calculated to perfection -almost. Of course he still needed the contribution of so many of his teammates for them to make it happen. But also he was a great leader on and off the pitch. He was Argentina's natural leader and didn't need the rest to encourage him. He only needed them to perform at an excellent level.
As for the story of Messi's life... well, it is a proper fairy tale. The humble beginnings, the challenges right from the start, some benevolent luck that made him meet Barcelona and its people (Ronaldinho, Pep/Cruyffismo, and so many legendary teammates), and when new challenges appeared in Barcelona (& Argentina before that, making his story rather tragic up to that point), he escaped with a lot of pain but managed to find happiness in Argentina, saving the best for last! And so he lives happily ever after...
So, beautiful job with the illustrations, the technique and creativity to put things together and to express ideas. Some things could have less details, some more... I understand a fully detailed "documentary" was not the goal. Such a thing would be hours long and at times maybe dull. Congratulations on this production, as it is near perfect, all things considered! And thank you so much for sharing it with us. You must be very proud of this work.
P.S.: Messi was considered by some as the greatest ever 10 years before the 2022 World Cup. And for me it is between him and Pele, but since I have watched only Messi live and I am emotionally attached to him, I pick Messi. So, Messi didn't need the World Cup to prove anything. The only reason why it is so satisfying that he eventually did it is because of his previous sufferings (being unable to replicate club football success with his National team, even though he tried so hard and got so close to achieving that so many times, but eventually kept failing and feeling miserable about it. So everytime he felt happy at the club, he was also sad due to Argentina's lost chances; and then when he finally tasted joy with the National team, he again had to feel pain! But this time due to club related issues) and how every normal football fan was convinced that Messi "deserved" to win a World Cup, that Messi deserved to have international success with Argentina. His perseverance and the eventual redemption serve as a great example for everyone; from children to adults. And then there is the absolute mastery that he showcased during the World Cup, purely in terms of football: the leadership, the calmness when he needed to show calmness, the passion when he needed to show passion and the ability to inspire both these states of mind to others, the impact in crucial moments, the chance creation, the ball protection, the energy conservation, the penalty conversion, the ball circulation, the dribbling progression... Messi was playing like a sage of football. Other versions of Messi have been described with words like "alien", "God", "football itself"... And I don't know which one I loved most. All I know is: when Messi plays like that, and if his teammates can keep up, nobody stands a chance when it comes to winning trophies and/or individual awards.
Messi deserved the Ballon d'Or, as he also had a good season with PSG besides the WC and scored a free kick that practically won them the league. Messi even deserved or could have won many more things in football if it wasn't for some tough luck and tragic management by some people at Barcelona... Given that Messi is the man with the most trophies won in football history, this sounds ridiculous, but it is true!
Thank you Messi for all the incredible moments, the memories, the emotions... Messi is infinite.
In 6 years Messi will lift the Super Ballon d'Or. We must, however, start thinking about ways to properly honour his greatness in a fitting way once he retires.

Vi con mis propios ojos como periodista e hinchas lo destrozaban por no ganar nada con su país y todo con su equipo. Al final demostró que solo había que esperar un poco más. Me parece una obra de arte!
