Very excellent video I've used other videos to remind me--i only build/rebuild a ship about once a month so I always have to look them up every time. This is the best I've found yet--im going to go tear a ship apart now.
Thanks for this! Starfield is amazingly distracting so I haven’t done more than simple ship upgrades and a little bit of building. I’m currently sitting on 1.2 million credits (no glitches, xp farms, or outposts) and have been wanting to build something sick, but could never find a good clear vid on these more advanced ship building techniques to make things look good. Well done
I knew you wouldn't be able to resist! For the duplication glitch I'd recommend using the Nova Bracer as a frame/mount, there are some parts that won't copy over properly if using anything else.
tryna build a Star Wars ship that would NOT look good in Starfield without some glitch building, so I found your vid and it seems super helpful. Cheers bro
Dude this was an excellent video. I watch this kind of stuff all the time while I'm on break, you're really good man. I found your bit of humor pretty good, dry and quick, clever. Thanks for the Video!
This is very helpful, The way you do the cycle/flip glitch is different from how I've done it. I have a few more tools to add to my bag of tricks! One thing you just made me think of that I hadn't thought of before was are we able to duplicate and place multiple landing gears within one spot. Then are we also able to place multiple cargo storage pieces within one spot. We could end up having a new era of super small, but very high capacity cargo ships. Because all of the storage and gear are actually duplicated in a few locations in the ship.
I'm using these resources to make my endgame tiny ships for a while, because I like to play without crew or companion and I feel no sense on piloting a massive warship alone. But I'd like more content creators to know and use these techniques so maybe some of them start creating really original starship designs. As of now, 95% are just the same exact useful pieces with small variations in layout and structural/aesthetics. For those worried about interior immersion vs exterior visuals, just follow a simple rule: don't clip pieces over transitable pieces (bay, docker, habs, cockpit). Use these tricks on structurals and wathever untransitable piece as engines, reactors, fuel tanks and so on. And I saw some people asking about Xbox. Yes, I'm a console player and this works too on console.
Great Video, I didn't know every method you've shown. I'm not sure if somebody here already mentioned it, because I didn't read all the comments, but there's a way that is a bit more simple than the duplication method. It starts the same, you connect another hab on top an place the part you wanna merge with another on it, just like you did it. But then you didn't need to copy anything, just remove the extra hab and then select the part that you wanna merge, It will fall down do the next possible snaplocation. Click to locate it and you're done. You even don't have to be afraid to move the mouse just press two times the spacebar for selecting and locate. With that method I did so many crazy designs, it's really fun to use. :)
Thank you for explaining this glitch.. had several people just dropping the name, but not responding on my question what the glitch actually was. lol. Will be adding this to another video when I cover it. 👍
@@Beeblebum hehe, same here. I saw so many videos where the drop glitch was mentioned, before I accidentally found out while trying to follow a tutorial for another snap glitch. With this method I merged today a grav drive into an reactor completely, that saves so much space.
Many thanks for the good clear ,explanation of how to "glitch " Build ,its been bugging me since watching a few other videos of ship builds .. Your Video is probably the easiest to understand that I have found thus far ......
You've done us a great favor by showing these. my ships exploded with style and symetry after learning most of them. Thank you there is one I want to learn that involves the Deimos wing in the last glitch you showed, and some other deimos small pieces. it us the most difficult one and I have no idea how to begin. wish I had more to go on and explain.
Thanks for this information, very helpful. Second and first technique I've used extensively, it is very helpful. Did not know about the first one and fourth one, didn't know either, though I at times noticed something like it, but even a miniscule mouse movement usually eliminated the result. You don't actually even need to flip or cycle four times, one is enough too, but it must be a "valid" flip or cycle. Meaning that if you accidentally move the mouse, even a tiny bit, during the flip or cycle, the item may not clip into place or will clip into wrong position and later, try to find that bloody unattached module.. But, there were always some pieces, which did not flip neither have a variation and even blocked the snap points. Like reactors. So maybe the first or fourth technique will help there, definitely something to try. Thanks.
Lol yeah,... in my preparations before recording, I actually used another part that flipped in 4 different directions, but during the recording I used a part that only needed 2 flips... Guess my brain was still stuck on the 4 flips... 😂
@lorgrenbenirus _"try to find that bloody unattached module"_ I spent over an hour trying to find an unattached module before I actually noticed the "Select All" button for the first time. This highlighted everything attached - making it very efficient for finding that unattached part ✨
@@bugnazbinnyking1198 True that. Thanks alot, this has been bugging the hell out of me, seems like I've been banging my head against a brick wall trying to get the cockpit for the Mantis to sit above the landing ramp and it just isn't having it. End up having to pop a larger hab unit on and extend the ship to where it looks a bit odd.. Gonna have try this out.
All we need now is the ability to see our ship from the inside while ship building, so we can choose where we want ladders and connecting passageways to other habs.
@@wun1gee omg thank you so much. I've been using hab spines and careful level layering to get it mostly under control, but there was still one time I spent an entire hour moving parts around to try to find a way. Using an equipment plate solves the problem in like 1 minute

Finally. Took you a while. Welcome to the nightmare of ship glitching Bugthesda. Let me simplify your copy glitch for you. You delete the duplicated habitat after attaching that structural wing, and after that touch the floating wing that will conveniently slide down automatically to the bottom position. Try it, it's much easier. These glitches are only the beginning, I warn you. Basically, the deleting/duplicating glitch I use it for dropping down multiple pieces to hide them in one place or create unique shapes. I used these glitches to create the best stats-wise ship in the game (Razorleaf whatever class, preferably C, with its original 6 A-class engines, or the upgraded A-class version of it, can't remember; but this is an early-game overkill ship, with 100/150 stats, and maxed 8 weapons only for power reasons). Also, these glitches helps in creating attaching points on pieces that normally have none in that area, by using the Holly-grail structural piece that has 8 attaching points and fusing this with other structural or engine/fuel pieces (never habitats). This gives you literally freedom for any shape you want. Do you know about teleporting from inside the ship to the cockpit instantly by falling through an over-the-head window? Well, good luck in finding that as well. I'm happy that I can see these shared with our NMS/Starfield community. Let's call them the sci-fi lovers community, shall we? That will kill any animosity. Because, honestly, both teams have a lot to learn from each other. I really love your videos.
@beeblebum how did you merge the fuel tank and the reactor together? I have a similar problem where I need to fuse the grab drive and the reactor together to have enough space to add an engine
I probably need to expand on this video with a few extra applications to the technique. But in short, You can drop ship parts more than once if needed. Just duplicate once to drop the part onto the 1st slot, then duplicate again to have it drop to the 2nd slot below it (if that makes sense).
idk about parts blocking you from entering different parts of a ship because i have a ship with structural parts clipping into a hab and cockpit and i can still walk through them
I'm playing Starfield again as-of the big update introducing official mod support... Is it me, or did Bethesda remove the ability to flip parts when in the ship builder? 😐
Unattached modules mean they are not connected to snap-points - It could be you removed a part where other parts where snapped against. If you are on PC.. you can double click on the ship and move it to see what parts are loose.
Can you help me? So for me, whenever I'm trying to do the flip glitch, it doesn't work. After I flipped the part again, it went red instead of green. Does this mean it's been patched? The parts merged (literally replicated the exact same ones in the video), but it's red now

Of all the glitches, I could never get the Ctrl-G to work where it would duplicate downeards. I could do everything else for a build except for that one. It's probably the most finicky glitch for me.
It will work if you keep at it. You need to make sure that there's something it wants to snap to in the place where it's going. If the first time you duplicate it it snaps somewhere else, that's fine. Just leave it there. Keep making copies until it snaps into the spot that you want it to. After you get what you want, you can delete all of the temporary copies. If you duplicate and you end up with it not snapping anywhere and creating a copy almost perfectly overlapping the original, that means there's no place that it can snap to. There are three solutions to that. Either you move the other parts out of the way so it can snap there, then glitch the other parts back later, or you add temporary parts so it does have something to snap to, or you have to do the thing that always works but takes some setup. Option three became my default when it looks tricky because once you've done it on one part it's super easy to do all over the place. You set up a guide part like a 1x1 companion way that is going to snap in the direction you need when you duplicate, then you multi-select the part you want to duplicate and your guide part, then point your cursor at the guide part and duplicate. It sounds complicated, and maybe it is the first time you do it, but it always works
