Ian , I know this was five years ago but if you look closely there is a subtle difference between your stroke and Bruce's. At the beginning of the stroke Bruce is pushing straight ahead with his top hand using more triceps and not quite so much body movement. More leverage and balance between arms. Sorry I had to put in my 2 cents worth, just have to say paddling was one of the best things in my life the best of people and friends. Wish I could get the sport going either in florida or even the great lakes. I'm in Indiana now but I just bought a speargun and am trying to get to florida
Aloha Kenneth - YES ,, there will be a DIFFERENCE because he's also using a DIFFERENT type of Paddle .. Straight Shaft and BIG DEEP blade ... and his job is to PADDLE STEER .. My job is purely POWER for this kind of SPrint Racing but in the Ocean for long distance downwind races .. my job would be to " help or countersteer" the boats depending on which direction he CHOOSES to go ...
