I plan on ending up in independence mo, hopefully to make it my new home. But unfortunately I will be starting in the homeless, free camping category . right know I'm in the Ozark Mo area . God has plans for me here in Missouri, I asked him what he needs me to do to start over. He said you will end up in Independence that is Your destiny.
I had to put my daughter in St. ANN'S Catholic school because Independence lost accredidation and my daughter couldnt read in the 4th grade. Friends car got stole off Truman rd last year while she went in a mexican restaurant to pick up an order for door dash.
Born in 1955, grownup there and left in 1977 to California. I sure miss the place. Why did the Levi store close on the square? I bought many pairs of Levi's.
We live in the western part of Independence close to where 40 Hwy, I-70, 39th St. and Sterling Ave. all converge. The area seems to be headed in a not-so-great direction. Lots of noise. Lots of folks with LOUD "boom" cars, loud motorcycles, and un-muffled cars. Wanting to move in the near future. Seems the farther east you go, the better the areas become.
Nope... you might want a job... and what type of jobs personss from all around... and most parked here in Mount Washington area near the tracks. homeless and druggies... normal. If you are near where her is finding the back drop... is the best view of the importance of why you should vote no vote for getting the hell out of independence mo. It's already here... closed to the public hearing of rules and regulations.... we are really a full stadium of people for WTF are they voting for and I wanna see who votes?
Your home will be Robbed... and you must have homeowners insurance....!!! As the police will do nothing.... prospective after the blm... "shouldn't have owned it if you couldn't protect it..."? So if you've no one at home... someone will steal from you.
It's a lot of decisions that are made... and most are for new home ownership? Why? Private schools..? Butcher block homes they can sell... but you have work here? And where would it be in another 10 years.
I lived here from age 5-11 then moved to the South. Had a good childhood, I thought. Half of my family lives there and I love them to death but the city itself is depressing.
@@livinginkansascity7117 theyre like off branch of the big mormon church of utah and so this group they cherry picked some of joseph smith's writings and yet still mormons. The spiral temple is some kind of temple symbolism or satellite steeple. Not sure what its about. They do think independence was garden of Eden one time and is where jesus returns. But mormons got wild ideas that dont agree fully with the bible.
You have been misinformed. None of those places are owned by the Mormon's unless something has changed in the last year. They are owned by Community Of Christ, Use to be called RLDS aka Reorganized Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. That is not Mormon. There IS a place called The Mormon visiting center there I believe. I've lived here all my life. Just thought some people would like to know that.
I am a decent of Lyman Wight who started the RLDS Church after they passed "Missouri Ordinance 11" that disallowed LDS to practice their religion in Missouri.
I lived in and around Independence for over 20 years. It's not bad as far as what one would expect from a town just outside of a big city like KC. One thing is certain, there are so many different things to do in that area that there will never be an excuse for boredom and the time of day or night is irrelevant because somewhere there is activity, that's a promise. I don't care what odd hobby you have, there are at least 100 people nearby who share that interest. People are generally welcoming and friendly but at the same time, there's all walks of life there so you can and will meet people you should avoid. In the beginning, where he's walking by that courthouse, the rent is very affordable but be warned, they close that area off once a year for about a week for festival that includes a carnival. It becomes a bit of a madhouse. I had friends who lived nearby who would take vacation during that festival just to escape. One time they returned home to find that their house had been broken into. They took things, ate a bunch of food and also apparently took several showers while they were there. The neighbors told them, oh yes, this happens when that festival is going on... it's the carnival workers. With said, in this modern age, get a cheap security camera that sends alerts to your phone no matter where you are, problem solved. What I liked most about independence is it is the best of both worlds as far as city life and country life. You can drive toward downtown KC and get 5 star treatment at a multitude of venues or drive in the opposite direction and experience a number of quaint little towns and all the wonderful things that go with that. You can drive less than 15 minutes down 24 hwy and be in the heart of a sprawling metropolis in one direction and go the other way for 15 minutes and you can have yourself in what appears to be the middle of nowhere with complete solitude outdoors. Independence is a gem of a place if not for any other reason than there is something for everyone. I definitely miss it.
i lived here a few times and never met any friends. Not a friendly place but mormons think its going to be the new jerusalem. Nonsense. But independence lay out is a very nice way its built. If people were just friendly and nice then it would be a great place.

I used to live over that way.... but went to raytown schools or kc ... but the addresses were Independence.
Not the "Mormon" temple. Completely different group with same origin. But very different.
We're moving to Independence in a couple weeks.

Yikes! I grew up here and left after graduation. Don’t regret it at all! I graduated in the Temple lol
interesting spot for a graduation!
The people were not friendly.
'Petty crime' is not below average in Independence, just about every crime category is above average. I live here.
Thanks for the testimonial from a local!

Original Morman Church, Community of Christ (former RLDS), LDS Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, plus splinter groups.
it’s nice here lol
Absolutely!
