They are just too much fun. Each and every one of them are very talented. But you can easily see that Miss Cohn is the boss lady. And that’s a good thing!
I was just taken by this song today. That caused me to listen to all of the versions on UA-cam, including the original. After listening to an awful lot of fine musicians, I have to say that this up-temp version is, by far, the best. Some of the others have very good musicians, but not at ALL positions, as we see here. Also, this arrangement, by Shaye, is just superior, even to those who wrote the song. I see nothing that comes close to what Erika does. She adds an element that just transcends the music. Wow, just wow.
They're good, and I always enjoy these people, but I miss the clarinet snaking around merrily in the upper registers. A little woodwind amidst the Brass brings a whole lot of charm & flavor.
Another great one directed by a younger Tupelo, with smile from Barnabus. You guys just aren't looking. PhillipsWyman thanks haven't come across you before.
Tuba Skinny in New Orleans on Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There are also two great dancers included in this video. October 2011 at the World Waterpark Association (WWA) convention
The song is "Viper Mad", (not "Can't Wait") , recorded by Sidney Bechet and Noble Sissle's Swingers in NYC , 1938. "Viper" was a1930's term for a person who smoked weed. So called for the hissing noise produced by the joint when smoked. So " I can't wait I'm viper mad ", meant that the viper was crazy for marijuana and can't wait to get it.
+Rick Cosmo I updated and edited my explanation. "Viper" actually referred to the marijuana smoker themselves, from the hissing sound of smoking the joint. So "I can't wait I'm viper mad " , meant that the viper is crazy for marijuana and can't wait to get it. Another song about it is Fats Waller's funny. "You're a Viper (the reefer song) ".
Indeed, the original composition by Sidney Bechet was for 1924, named "Pleasure mad", and the was renamed "Viper Mad" when it was recording by Noble Sissle Swingsters!
To see the impact of Shaye's arranging, take a look at this early performance of the band. Erika already brings her skill, although I think her later performance is more refined. Also interesting to see the band with a tap dancer. ua-cam.com/video/FjmzBjfyUQ0/v-deo.html

They are just too much fun. Each and every one of them are very talented. But you can easily see that Miss Cohn is the boss lady. And that’s a good thing!

Wrap your chops
'round this stick of tea
Blow this gage
And get high with me
Good tea is my weakness
I know it's bad
It sends me gate and I can't wait
I'm viper mad
Wrap your chops
'round this stick of tea
Come on blow this gage
And get torn with me
Good tea is my weakness
I know it's bad
It sends me gate and I can't wait
I'm viper mad
