It kinda is and isnt his fault. He might just be too far away or pointing the Remote to high or low from the sensor bar.
After all, this console came out 15 years ago when Tv’s were small as heck, so the sensor bar’s range of motion isnt very big. You basically have to be but cheek up close to the tv or monitor and have to be in a constant balance to make sure your Wii Remote doesnt dip to low or high and loses connection with the sensor bar
