What I love about Garry is that his fears don't just vanish during the adventure. He's brave enough to try and somehow deal with them, and to do everything in his power to save a defenseless child even though he's scared as much as her (if not more). I've never loved any anime/manga/rpg character as much as him; even though he may be somewhat sketchy (we know almost nothing about him except his actions during the game), he's also terribly heartbreaking...
Marie V. His actions speak so valiantly of his character even while being yes sketchy his actions give us an amazing yet still very shallow of his person such an underrated character
Hes a great character. He is SO sketch tho. That tattered jacket isn't earning him any more points. It is cool tho.
A bit late but i always had a headcanon to myself that garry smokes lol but thats just me
And based on his actions on the game like the mannequin head and the ant conversation(if u go back to that area with him in the party) he seems to be kind of a hot head
@@milafrias2335 Considering that Garry does not carry cigarettes with him to accompany the lighter, but does have candy, it is a safer assumption that he did smoke in the past, but is trying to quit

@@tzadikinnistarim3610 Indeed. It was overrated in that tons and tons of people liked it at that particular time period. But similar to what you said, it would seem that this genre of games is not utilized very often. For sure not by the mainstream game industry. Games like this do not rely on huge budgets and aesthetics to shine. These games have a veneer of simple charm, but a layer of depth underneath.

Garry is probably my favorite character of almost all games I play.
The decisions in this game nearly killed me every time because all of the characters are very well brought up through the story and are so likeable.
I felt bad for Mary, but Garry is such a great character - no, person.
I've never felt so attached to a character as strongly as I do to Garry.
He has so many characteristics that most people can relate to, or at least laugh about, and he's adorable.
I feel the same way.
Snickercole I find Garry is a lot like Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa, although, Nagito is much more insane. Definitely a game to look into if you're interested in wonderfully crafted characters such as Garry. :)

Right? I couldn't agree more. He's such an interesting guy, through and through. He even feels like somewhat of a role model, at times. Even if he is a fictional character and all.
Man, Garry was so nice to Ib dispite whatever was going on, he never got upset or anything with her and that's why I like him so much, so caring...
there's something about this theme that just clenches my heart ever so slightly. it might just be the fact that I'm still attached to this story and its characters or that I happen to enjoy this style of music. the type that leaves you wanting more even after it ends.
it's been so long since I've thought about Ib and as soon as I clicked on this video, the nostalgia hit me so hard, I actually teared up a little bit. this is a beautiful rendition of Garry's theme and its safe to say I enjoyed it. a lot.

A lot of musical/instrumental covers out there lack emotion and rarely use dynamics to their advantage, but this one really hits close to home.
Maybe I'll play the game again after listening one more time.

For me, the ship is unidentified... their love is bigger than best friends, yet totally platonic. But I do think the Protective Big Brother is justified here.

Yeah I thought of that .. Garry is the famous artists and he said there was a accident in his past think that's what he says so what if Garry created the gallery and Mary ... But somehow forgot if it was s car accident or like some of the endings Garry just decided to leave and it costed him his memories ..
What if that's why Mary dislike him and the gallery seems to really know him exepcally the dolls..
He created Mary and was her play friend for a while but wanted yo leave so he tricked Mary and the dolls and took off leaving Mary behind stuck forever
but if i remember correctly in some points of the game it says that guertena is for sure dead. i don't remember if it said he was old when he died or he lived way in the past but it did say he 'died'. it could be that people thought he died in that accident...
Yeah so true I smell a sequel coming to the game cause we didn't get a lot of answers to who guertena was and where he was or if he was alive or how the gallery was their or more on Marys past why she hates people living and how the dolls knew Garry or how he seen through the cute bunny look to the truly creepy dolls they were ...
How is the gallery alive and when was this created and why did guertena do this for was their a reason...
Another question that brings up if like one of the endings where Garry is left behind or in is now a painting in the end ...
Does that means all the living paintings,dolls and statues were once people that had worked or visited the gallery that guertena had tricked and trapped their for his own work and passion...
So is their more Eviler power behind this gallery and its meaning that needs to be stopped
Kayla Timargarry and mary saw them as dolls. but ib was so innocent and since she's pretty young (well define young) so she saw rabbits instead of dolls.
in some book there was something about emotions making pictures alive and guertena painted those paintings with so much emotions that the paintings were living.
but he theory of the paintings and statues to be visitors that lost their roses or couldn't get out of guertena's world is amazing. even if you say that mary could have taken the chance to leave the picture world earlier... she dislikes grown ups, that's why she's so attached to ib. if those visitors were adults she'd rather try to make them unable to leave her world
I don't know what it is about this game that makes it so dear to me. Despite being a horror fan and a sucker for great fiction, I feel like IB, although being a simple looking & non-pretentious game just speaks to my soul in ways I can't comprehend :)

I miss it too. Maybe one day something will come around to bring back that same magic we felt all those years ago playing these games.
I don't know about anyone else, but the end "Together Forever" was the saddest ending to me, because, though understand and feel bad for Mary, she didn't have the right to kill someone because she was miserable, and since Garry was my favorite character, I got all the more upset. I don't know I'm probably being silly about this. But please don't be angry, this is my opinion, you don't have to agree.

i havent played this game in years... i was searching up gary's theme (for pokemon) and this showed up. So I said "wow, it's been a while" and clicked it.
This is so well done and brought back so many emotions from when I played the game... I'm just so glad I clicked on it :')

I love the emotions put into the different parts of this song. How at the beginning it is more dark and showing a small bit of light, but how the middle is coming up to show kindness, and then the end is showing how Garry truely wants to help get both of them out together and how he is willing to sacrifice himself for his friend.
When I saw Garry as a portrait in the gallery(one of the endings),I was like;"Goodnight sweet Prince..." 😢 🌹

I have a best friend and he is a few years older than me, I like to see us like Ib and Garry, who despite being lost in an unknown world, trust each other and feel safe around each other. I remember singing a fanmade of "Fightining For You" to my friend who was having sleep problems, without realizing it, I think this fanmade became the theme song of our friendship
It's been 8 years and I still feel sad whenever I hear his theme. Ib has such a beautiful story. This game is the reason why I'm studying game arts right now. It's a piece of art and I hope I can create something as beautiful as this game in the future. :') It's so inspirational and Garry is one of my favorite video game characters of all time. I just want to hug him... lol.

*SPOILERS* I got the ending where Ib wants both Garry and Mary to enjoy the outside world, so she decides to rip up her rose and throw both of them in the fabricated world picture. After, Garry doesn't seem to remember about Ib and is also is Mary's brother. They both see a picture of Ib labeled 'Goodbye' which makes Mary end up crying. I wasn't very happy with my ending but i was very determined to get the other endings.

Ib was the first horror game that i've played in my entire life ALONE and it was the one which brought me to watch Cry's playthrough :D so yeah this game means a lot to me.

God, this song was our song. 2 or 3 years ago, but only now i have the bravery to listen it again. And hopefully, without all the pain of the ghost of the past. Trust me, Don't let other people know songs that touch your soul, they can use it to take control to you and suddently destroy, no matter who has the fault.

I KNOW, RIGHT? I've been looking everywhere but I can't find one just as touching or beautiful as this one.
One of the big things that I love about Garry is just how… creepy he looks. His design doesn’t seem comforting or kind at all, by all means in any other game he would probably be some sort of antagonistic figure by design alone. But he’s the complete opposite to what his visuals portray. He’s a kind, caring, undyingly loyal figure and despite him probably not thinking much of himself he really is a hero, and throughout the game you come to adore this wacky edgy dude.
This is in stark contrast to Mary and her design. She looks like a sweet, bubbly, unassuming kid. She absolutely appears to be harmless in every way but in reality she’s the most cold and calculated being in the entire story.
The game takes first impressions and the designs of these characters and flips them on their head.
Garry looks like a creepy, slightly unhinged villain but is the kindest person in the game.
Mary looks like a kind, sweet kid but is the most unhinged and villainous person in the game.
All these songs make me think back of the times when I watched Cryaotic play Ib and how all the characters were so amazing and I loved that game so much and thinking about it just makes me want to cry, just thinking of the memories in that game. . .it's just kwmdlwkd maybe it's just em but it is still heart warming and heartbreaking!in this game

It's like Pinocchio, he doesn't know wht's wrong or right, just what he experiences. If Mary experienced a lonely life, then she would long for the opposite. If she had a happy life with the same old people (let's say, the statues and dolls), then she'd probably long for some alone time. WOW, kouri got us good.

It would be interesting to see it as a movie, but it wouldn't give you the same intensity and will that being in the game with the characters provides. The game is more emotional and great because it makes you think and choose the fates of the characters that you care about. In a movie, the characters' destinies are already set in stone from the beginning, but in a game you can live through it with the characters and feel the emotion and thought that one goes through when they have to choose.
