Thank you for this video. My bird has never seen/heard her own kind and what better group of birds to show her than the real thing! She was very interested in what they had to say!
I'm back to say i've been listening to this video as part of a soundscape of rural wa for 4 years now! I play it loud to the local pink and grays. They seem amused by the dialect, and pick this mob as flock from Corrigen and nearby.
Played this for our little guy, he was passed to us free spending 30 years alone in a small backyard cage. He has so many nervous tics and can’t assimilate with other galahs, I sit with him at night playing these sounds and it calms him down, thanks for recording them
This is hilarious! My wee Opal ( nearly 9 month old hand raised galah) chats back to them in her language freekin adorable :D just shows they never loose their own language :)
Funny little buggers. We throw them some seeds most days and leave a few golf balls around for them to play with. Also a bit of rope hung on the clothes line that they will hang upside down and flap in mad circles. Nice farm. Where is it? Can see the affects of the drought but this year is a bumper harvest I hear. Its Oct and my usual bunch of cockies are not here and I'll bet they are out there for the harvest time. Nice video thank you.
Thanks for this.. you don’t hear galahs very often in suburban Melbourne now, and this takes me back to when I was a kid in Adelaide, down the River Torrens.
This Video is my pet Galah's ( name of LEMMY after Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead ) favourite, He goes right off we he sees it and screeches his head off. My Galah also goes nuts when he hears Motorhead.
That is good and im sure you love your but be carfull because to much of it can stress them out immensely causing them to become more edgy and desperate for freedom.
My galah just loves listening to his mates. His reaction is priceless. He sings dances and talks back at them. Quite entertaining.
As a yank living in Nanango back in 1975, this video takes me way back...thank you.

My heart belongs to the Pink and Greys. They aren't as colourful as some, but they are funny little buggers and oh so True Blue
