When HB2 comes out I’ll rent it and Hi Fi Rush for the month with Gamepass. Then I’ll just end subscription. But I’m on PS5 everyday for one reason or another.

Just because some Sony studios are making live service games doesnt mean they will stop creating single player AAA games. What Sony does need is a higher profit margin. We really dont know how long they can keep investing 200 million into single player experiences with only 600-800 million made after sales. That doesn give them a lot of room work with to invest in other projects. Sony as a company isnt known for making second rate products. Quality always comes first, just like their first party studios; they arent being paid to make AA games.
Trying to find the next big GAAS hit is worth the investment if it brings in over a billion a year like COD, Fornite, Apex, Roblox, etc. That type of revenue will give them the room to experiment and take risk with new IPs. They have the talent and GAAS arent inherently bad. Its when the game structure is based on walled gardens that forces you to pay to enjoy the experience that you couldnt do by investing time. The best examples of this are Minecraft, Warfarme, Helldivers 2, Fortnite, Apex Legends, PubG, etc.
Spiderman 2 sold 10 million copies in only 4 months. How many copies will they sell this year? 10 million times $70 is $700 million, so any console bundles or 3rd party store cut still equates to turning a profit already.
The reason they delayed a bunch of their planned live service games is for ensuring quality. They also aren't "rewriting" or abandoning the thing that made them successful. Not every studio is working on a live service game nor is every project one. A horizon mulitplayer game is being made but Guerilla is still working on Horizon 3. If Sony was only pushing live service, they wouldn't have let Naughty Dog cancel TLOU live service title. They let Naughty Dog continue to make narrative-driven single player games as opposed to forcing them to put out a live service one.

Could be a separate project. Previous details about Sony Bend's game say it uses the same open world systems as Days Gone and would have an online mode but not be fully online. That doesn't really sound like a live service game to me.

Excitement for xbox has died down because there's nothing to talk about. Xbox thrives on drama and online console wars and feeding the news cycle stuff to talk about. phil, sarah bond or matt booty should do some interviews. put a hellblade 2 demo out.

They mentioned Hellblade 2 here and that is exactly what I was going to reference. I havent even heard any hype or conversation of Hellblade 2 since that podcast. I mean NO ONE has been talking about it and thats a problem. Xbox popularity is waning at least right now.
I feel zero attachment to their ecosystem but something I am doing.....they finally are putting out physicals of a few of their games through Limited Run and I'm preordering them. I wouldnt have bought these games otherwise but now that they are getting physicals on other plats, I'm now buying some of their games. I ordered Pentiment and will be getting Hifi physically and likely others (grounded was just announced too) for PS5. For me having physical options is huge. Thanks Rock!

Helldivers 2 did live service almost perfect with great gameplay and I still spend most of my time on SP games like Rebirth, Outcast, Ronin.
So even the best live service games don’t suck me in for that long.
If Bend Studio new game has a story mode, and a multiplayer option, I don’t have an issue with that. I think that’s what’s most ppl have been asking for.

They went from narrative driven 3rd person action adventure games only to live service multiplayer only games. Why can’t they go back to the PS3 era, when most of their games shipped with a single player, and multiplayer mode? Even CoD has a story campaign, and a multiplayer mode. There’s no excuse for Sony, especially when they’re investing hundreds of millions of dollars into their games

That recent Xbox podcast where they announced the 4 ports to other platforms revealed a lot. Phil Spencer was on first to try and clear his name but quickly took the back seat and became the nodding yes man to the other two, who seemed to be running the show and delivering the wishes of MS. Phil Spencer clearly felt humiliated as a nodding yes man and knew he would be the target of hate from betrayed console xbots. We knew it was coming and warned everyone, but the xbot fools just called us called us out as fanboys and told us that this is the future of gaming. It's definitely the future for Xbox gaming, because it is the unavoidable fate when you go down the "console sales don't matter, zero exclusives, Game Pass Day and Date, games for everyone route."
We need competition over on PlayStation to make console gaming exciting, but if MS don't play ball and let Xbox fade into decline, then they might as well quit, they are no good to us on PlayStation, no good for xbots, and no good for the whole game industry. Whether we like it or not, it is what it is.

Microsoft is a software company so them focusing on 3rd party publishing & Games Pass is there core strength . Sony is a hardware company. So developing PlayStation console brand is there strength. Both have different strategies.
It's been fun over the years listening to the mental gymnastics, but it's getting harder and harder for these guys out here. Kinda sad, but funny as hell all at the same time.
At least all the people that have only had Xbox consoles, and never played the long list of amazing PlayStation exclusives, can finally experience greatness
I'll tackle the live service question first. I think Bend's live service could be the direction they may want to head thinking on it. The emergent design of the Days Gone system imo could be well translated into Live Service world if created correctly. And ironically, they could closer craft the Factions 2 world I have in my head currently than possibly Naughty Dog. Possibly make Playstation's Day Z.
I'm more concerned if Media Molecule tries it again. But i could see Bend succeeding. Sony has a home run with Helldivers 2 so far in addition to GT7.
As for the Xbox, just remember... ABK acquisition is an "accelerant" to their strategy. I can definitely see them shifting the game plan in 2022. X1 meant to get the axe but Phil kept it alive. I think Series was the last try to compete and it's getting annihilated, so now this is the pivot. It's comical that a portion of fan base is so dead set in Gloom and Doom that they're chasing a mirage of Playstation that never existed just to lay claim they're just "being critical of the company".
I'm not against having a few good live service games, especially after Helldivers. I think there's the potential they could change the landscape of live service to be more pro player.
I don't want them pulling too many resources from our greatness though

Why do these gaming UA-camrs have so much animosity towards Sony’s live service strategy? Their first title, Helldivers 2 has been a smash hit. If done right, live service games can be fun and engaging for millions of gamers. The fact that Sony has had success in the past with blockbuster single player games does not guarantee that they will have future success with that model. I would rather have them innovate and create new gaming experiences than be marooned in the past.

Xbox gamers are good! Yes that podcast deflated many. But with Hellblade 2 in May. And then that June showcase that immediately follows. Will literally feel like a relaunch with all the new exciting hardware, all of the exclusives, and all the games entering gamepass and xcloud improvements! Xbox will be great!

They searched xbox xdk through their channels and the results show as follows!
1) Xbox 360 game development console / Model name Xbox 360 Xdk date: 2005/10/18
2) XDK Console model name 1882, 1883
Date: 2020/6/11
3) XDK Console model name 2089
Date: 2024/03/18.
Now additional info
Xbox 360 model numbers were 1482,1483, 84, 85 etc.
Xbox one og model no.1540
Xbox one s model no. 1681, 1682, etc
Xbox one x model no. 1787, etc.
Xbox series s model no. 1883
Xbox series x model no. 1882
Now if you look at the model numbers the og xbox one was 1540 and the one x was 1787
That jump is similar to the jump from the series x 1882 to 2089
Now that suggests a mid gen upgrade, not an iteration. An iteration would have been 1985 or something similar.
Now those are facts. And Phil spencer clearly said that alot has changed since the docks were released.
Now it's easy to say that Microsoft is just throwing in the towel and folding because they put some of their games over on Playstation.
But they have over 40 studios! Why not give some games new life on another console that didn't do well?
Why can not that be done, while bringing the best of their games to the xbox platform, PC and gamepass. And building their brands!
Xbox is profitable now. They are about to launch a mobile store on Android and IOS. They are expanding gamepass with Activision blizzard and bring gamepass to several new markets. Cod will be on Switch next year, Overwatch 2, Elderscrolls online and Fallout 76 will follow. Wow is coming to console etc. The are expanding gamepass to televisions, etc. And they have not started that huge marketing push yet!
They are quiet for a reason. As you rightfully said, they are figuring out their marketing strategy and so on. But one thing that is for certain is that Microsoft is not going to allow Playstation to have a Clear advantage that a ps5 pro presents over the xbox platform on their own multiplats. Phil spencer himself said that the xbox one x was made to be the best place to play all titles. He thought that a substantial leap was necessary. Even when he knew he didn't have a lineup to match ps4 lineup late gen.
Now that they have the far greater lineup, why forfeit their position with weaker hardware. Money is not their problem, it's Sony's and they are in a mess right now internally and Microsoft knows this.
And day and date for Playstation is here!all live service games will be day one according to Jim ryan himself. Helldivers2 happened, bend next game is live service and ghost of tsushima 2 is going to have a live service mode. Horizon multiplayer is going to be live-service as well! Fairgames live service and Marathon is multiplat!

The xbox one s had a gpu clock increase and power advantage. It also added a 4k bluray, hdr and 4k upscaling! Hence it moved up from 15xx to 16xx.

No excitement? I mean I'm sure not to everyone, but to a lot of people there is. 10 first party games, all included day 1 on gamepass as well as all the other announced and unannounced 3rd party games. You can literally play them on any mobile device of ur choosing including laptop or pc through Xbox cloud. It's not the cleanest service but it's pretty impressive and is only going to improve.

Porting 4 games to playstation, only affects the people who care about "console" wars, obviously it's silly. But it's not like he's he's making decisions at the expense of xbox gamers. Gamepass is still the best value in gaming, especially if you add In the emulation technology. You're not forced to be tied down to an xbox in order to play xbox games, youre allowed to play on literally any device if you're choosing. Honestly things have never been better over at xbox

A lot of people talking about exclusives are stupid. Microsoft cares about margins and exclusives don't provide better margins. There will be a time where PlayStation releases all their games on all platforms. Consoles are for poor people. Like PS5 came out when they 3080 came out and the PS5 Pro will have similar power to the 3080 4 years later and when that comes out the 5080 will be out running 4k over 200 FPS.. Steam has more users than Xbox and PS combined.. There's no generations on PC either, every 2 years a stronger GPU series comes out that's about 50% faster than the last one.
