That, or people just don't like it. I'm personally not a fan of the character designs outside of the robots, and having to look at something you don't appreciate usually dampens the experience
Just install a mod to replace Spark with Sonic.

Fun fact: Sonic Frontiers' director has played this game during the period of time where he was taking feedback from fans on Twitter! He said he found it "very helpful" and expressed interest in incorporating the game design philosophy.
This game is really good and fun, youtube showed me this on my feed and I really liked it. Money well spent, gaming has been really boring for me lately. Hoping there is a sequel soon.
I need to get the dlc for this, cuz spark 2 was dope.

the dlc are free, and are part of updates, so if you boot the game up, it will be right there waiting for you in the post-game
Honestly, after playing through the game, I can say that Utopia Shelter (Clarity Land), Rail Canyon, and the Red Speed Highway are the best levels, but it bothers me that it’s only because it reminds me of Sonic and not because it’s great on its own.
In addition, the lack of voice acting, and a lack of build up within the main story make it an okay story with a cool, albeit out of nowhere, twist.
Gameplay is fun, but I’m not a fan of Homing attack (jester dash) on B.
Still, the combat is like a superior version of Crystar with a parry, and the level design is solid.
For my first playthrough, I played on: Normal, Challenge Jester.
Call me odd, but during my playthrough, I found myself having more fun with the combat rather than the level design.
I also encountered some bugs: sideways car, clipping through the floor, and getting stuck inside an invisible wall, but it seems like only I encountered that so I’ll chalk it up to an odd occurrence.
Overall, the game is a 7.5/10
The gameplay is an 8.8
And the story is a 6.2

Spark 1 is an awesome masterpiece but spark 2 is actually kind of test to the real game to spark 3 because it's the most important and very well sense to a good game too
