Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. Thank you very much for your time. First of all, if you have any questions regarding Islam and yourself, just open the Quran randomly, and you will find the answer in front of you, like a miracle and a sign from God.
Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them). Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. No, him you read all wrong. Some people, like your 1:40 example, they start bopping along to the song again because there is a grim joy in someone is finally (as far as they know) making their systemically racist reality a song that will reach others either willfully ignoring the status quo through malice or incompetence. Childish Gambino wasn't the first black artist to try to help wake people up to the reality of capitalism and fascism in the USA, especially around firearms. He wasn't the only artist to notice the USA slipping back to why he's doing blackface minstrel show dances and now 4 years later USA has had a coup attempt, states banning books, and schools where the cops won't go in while the radicalized shooter does the children and the educators. Mocking him for that blunt is completely missing that the whole point of demonizing that blunt was to target panthers and leftists by the cops as far back as Nixon's John Ehrlichman. Someone makes a head nodder about how they distract from systemically making death come sooner for First Nations too, like Halluci Nation / A Tribe Called Red, you better believe I be bopping along after the shot gets fired in that too.
Which I thing is a Key point for the whole song. A shooting happens and people forget about it quickly, because, I thinkt, people today are more concerned about their Selfies and insta pics, and don't really pay attention to the grander scheme of things = Americans have been dumped down by media, social media etc. But then again...I'm just drunk sitting behind a keyboard and I take things way out of context.
@@CarstinTwitch yeah people forgot the shootings because of media not because it's a traumatic experience and your brain is literally chemically wired to forget about traumatic experiences. The Truth is people care very little for people they don't know to begin with, it won't feel the same when someone half the world away dies as it does when your mom dies, it's just how we're wired. Some of us can recognize that we should be more empathetic but that doesn't mean everyone will, or even should. Mourning every death in the world would destroy you or anyone on a mental level, we have this check in our brains to keep us functional because mortality isn't something we can escape, does it feel good to hear about someone who died? no, it doesn't, but you can't live if you don't move on, someone dies every hour, it happens it sucks, and we should do what we can about it. Social media didn't kill the people, it simply broadcast the message. Social media didn't tell people to stop caring about gun violence, but people do it because giving up guns would affect them directly and we as a species are to selfish. Also people have this uncanny ability to distinguish between reality and entertainment, they forgot it immediately because it's a song, a video, no one actually died in this video, notice how people still remember the actual shootings even though they more than likely weren't involved with anyone that died that day.
Every time I watch that video I am overwhelmed with emotions I don’t even quite understand. Fear, anger, guilt, hope, admiration, despair, grief, confusion. This video and song are a true work of art. The message can probably be interpreted many ways, but what it makes you FEEL is undeniable.
I love the symbolism in This Is America. Other than the shooting, there's symbolism in the lyrics, the background, dancing, and clothing even. I watched a whole video of breaking down this video. And there's dancing some dancing that refers back to the Jim Crow era.
What I love about this video is how Childish Gambino just shoves the reality of what’s going on right in your face so blatant that you can’t ignore or disregard it. Amazing video 💯💯💯
@@allyma3 thats true. I missed somethings the first time I was just realizing most the people reacting didn’t understand most of it the first time which was just confusing to me.
Yeah it made me angry when people paused the video right after the shooting. The way I see it, you put three things one after another to get the message: the entertaining dancer, then the shooting, followed by the last item, the explanation: "This is America'.
The first gunshot literally signalled the people watching to focus on what the lyrics mean. He literally emphasized it in the chorus "This is America, Don't catch you slippin' now"
This was much more interesting to watch and more entertaining then I expected. I was there when this was released but I never thought this video existed.
This song is a lyrical masterpiece. 1. Every single killing is proceeded by "get your money, black man". The implication is that every single time someone shows some level of success while complying with the laws of the country, they are still gunned down. 2. After every death, everyone is hyper-quick to forget the previous shotting and go back to sunshine and rainbows, evidenced by the Choir. The "Thoughts and Prayers" affect that sees nothing change and the cycle repeat. 3. This is America is part of the greater bar, "This is America, don't catch you slipping now". Glover is daring the audience to do the one thing they and we as Americans seems to be unable to do: remember what every shotting feels like, the toll taken, and the inability for us to keep the pressure on legislatures to fix our god-awful laws. What's woefully sad is how these points sailed right over the top of every. single. one. of. these. people. As I'm sure it does with most who've heard it. The irony of being unable to see the message about the irony in being unable to see the cycle of gun violence, particularly against the African American community, is absolutely incredible. This IS America. Well done Danny. Boo to the rest of us.
One of the things that strike me every time I watch this video is, how the gun and later the assault rifle are both handed off to somebody who receives it in a satin like beautiful scarf and carries it off quickly. Like the gun is handled with such care and reverence, while the bodies of the dead are either left in a pile or dragged off unceremoniously. Just powerful.
OK just saying don't take this the wrong way please but isn't most gun violence against African Americans by African Americans with all the gang violence and such not saying that any gun violence should be tolerated I'm just saying that everyone is the problem not just when one race shoots the other which is why I hate the media so much they always focus on race never the bigger problems
I always interpreted it as Glover being the embodiment of the US itself. His jovial nature hides the darker side of things. Notice how he's always in frame, and how bad shit is happening in the background just out of view. Its like he (the us) is trying to cover up the horrendous shit that's happening.
People vibing at the start not knowing what to expect and inadvertantly perfectly embodying the very thing the song is about to critique/discuss is fascinating to watch

It might shock them at the exact moment they hear or see something but they all fail to dig deeper and understand the real underlying problem... they just carry on as if nothing bad has ever happened :/
I’m pretty sure that’s Glover’s intention. To make you fail to realize what’s really going on by making a fairly upbeat or hype song to distract you from its real meaning. Just like how people today fail to realize all the bad stuff that’s been happening every day, as they’re so wrapped up about the stuff they do daily that they hardly even scratch the surface of what happens in other parts of America today.
Easy, this people live in a Bubble where nothing its wrong and never see the reality live in USA, and hilariuos see thing so natural and this point its sad and the same Time cruel... "This Is america" 😅
I'm not a HUGE fan of Childish Gambino, but This is America is one of the best music video I've ever watched, it is so impactful and the criticism of the song is so on point. People who "didn't understand" what was going on when he was literally shooting and singing "this is America", are the people who (obviously) didn't get it.
Well, if you look deeper, it's a black man shooting other blacks. And in America, the number 1 cause of death for black men, is being shot by other black men. And it's by A LOT. So, yes, this is America.
It's amazing how many people don't get the message behind the video. Look at what's going on in the background, and then listen to what he's saying. This about our culture in America. We're all taking selfies and obsessed with celebrity culture, and it's all smoke. People are dying, the Black community especially, but people are asleep on the real issues cause they're too busy working on that next tweet. It's a wake-up call.
Explain? Because people still to this day want to come to America...yes we have our problems...we are what 250 years old...but for a country that is so diverse with culture/ thought things will happen...just now that we have mass media and cameras everywhere things are able to be shown and spread faster... America has done many great things...but for the last 100 years we have slowly been taken over by the new world order...

The speed at which people forget about the first killing is crazy.
It tells you, how people are numb to it. This is America.
I think the dance really distracts people about it.
@@manishn1969 Sure, a nice piece of entertainment will help to blend out.
This video is epic, and it provokes thoughts and feelings that you don't expect. Very powerful.

Really sad how most of these people didn’t understand a lot of what he was trying to say with this song.

After the gunshot,we heard “this is America”. What a strong connection.

Oh man
This song is a lyrical masterpiece.
Boo to the rest of us.
cruda realidad pero cierta para los estadounidenses y tambien para latinoamerica jajsj
donde firmo?
I love how it's started fun like "oh America seems nice" and then bam, this is America. Shit still gives me goosebumps
People vibing at the start not knowing what to expect and inadvertantly perfectly embodying the very thing the song is about to critique/discuss is fascinating to watch

This is seriously the best music video of the decade. I very rarely like to lift things up to the status of "true art", this is one of those rare cases.
Yo if a white guy made this video and he shot black people in it some people would be mad but it's not it's a black man shooting a white guy in the start of the video then he gets a automatic gun and kills a quire why.

The saddest thing to see was that most of them were shocked for like a couple of seconds and then continued to smile, laugh and dance to the music - they DID NOT GET the message... and the most disturbing thing is the knowledge that they probably understand the same amout, seeing real life events...
It might shock them at the exact moment they hear or see something but they all fail to dig deeper and understand the real underlying problem... they just carry on as if nothing bad has ever happened :/
totally agree w/u
It's a music so...
Bruh Donald glover can have whatever message he wants in the song

Social commentary at its finest.
What!????
Well, if you look deeper, it's a black man shooting other blacks. And in America, the number 1 cause of death for black men, is being shot by other black men. And it's by A LOT. So, yes, this is America.
"This is America" and "I'm not racist" are the two best masterpieces about our community and about racism, ever. Always recommend watching both clips

It's a wake-up call.
its Americans that don't understand, like every European Asian and African know that America is the worst country on the world
