- It was 5am, 37 degrees in November of 2007 as we waited up all night for this shot of the sunrise over the Perdenales River just outside of Austin. We had been filming in the house all day and night. Myself along with the crew were the kind of tired that makes you feel sick to your stomach. Eric Dorris, the director of what would be the Methods & Mechanics DVD, had the idea to bring a 30 foot jib crane with a camera on it along with two other cameras to capture a bit of playing out on the rocks and we’d just use the camera for the audio. We hadn’t discussed this and I had nothing prepared as I had prepared everything for all the contents of the entire DVD to this point. The sun was starting to rise and I looked at Eric with a puzzled face. He said, “Just play.” So here’s what became the opening shot of Methods & Mechanics.
Just as mind blowing behind a standard "Jazz" set-up, as to when Todd is behind a giant kit. True incredible talent from a gifted drummer. Every beat from Mr. Sucherman has a meaning and a place. A DRUM GENIUS!!!

I have seen Styx many times. I am waiting to them again this year in my home state of Michigan just to see you do what you do. You are one of my top favorite drummers ever
What great scenery! Not to mention your 100ft up and still cool as a cucumber in december. Great set of pearls!
Oh Todd, you artist you. That`s super awesome, please do more.
Freaking awesome!!
What a shot and what an expression on the kit. Amazing!
It’s nice seeing you on a stripped down kit…
You don't see that everyday!
Weird seeing Todd behind a small kit
Is this really an original sound?
