Billie recently said that she never took voice training/lessons and that over the last year or two she started to take voice lessons and that she loves it. She's learning how to use her instrument in different ways. I love it. She was already very good before lessons..excited to see what she brings to the table in the future.
She's the first pop vocalist that has impressed me for decades.. This girl is Brilliant. This song is impeccable. Her entire new album is impeccable.!!!
what is more amazing is that she's learned a lot about vocal engineering and production, so she did a looootttt in this last record you know. more 50/50 than ever.
Your Passion for music and the things that happen to make the whole song happen is infectious and exhilarating to say the least, and I end up feeling Inspired
Many thanks, Chris, great stuff! All I will say is you have to watch "The Greatest (live)" (either The Late Show or The Olympics Handover) and you will see next-level Billie. It is 10x the song and performance of "Birds..." imho. I was lucky enough to see her in NYC last week from the side of the stage and she was simply mesmerizing. Cheers!
I love her whispery singing. She was the first that i can remember and suddenly there's a whole wave of young girls singing this way. She's so masterful. Heard her talking about how she is very intentional about when she sings out vs breathy. Love her!
Wow! I would have missed so much of what she was doing if I had not watched this video.I have learned so much from you since I started following you and even more since I joined your coaching course. I'm hearing and singing music in ways that I'd never imagined before. You've turned me on to so many musical genres, styles, sounds and techniques as well as opened up a whole new world in loving my voice as a creative instrument. I can't thank you enough.
It’s fascinating all the music producers online like you , are hearing and conveying how the writing and production and arrangement and performance of these songs are far above the norm and branching into the very special genius area. Like ABBA, when you break down the songs that seem simple are actually very very complicated and without her vocal layering would not work. … I am 58 and heard the best…and I am just discovering her and am very very excited at what I am hearing. They have mastered the pop song and hook hook… hook. Toe tapping and instantly unforgettable. I hope this album gets all the Grammies it deserves…oh she said she sings these end notes..the highest she ever sung. ….and watch Steven Colbert live versions…..wow ow ow w
And another very very insightful video from Chris!! All these great singers are perfect to learn from and integrate techniques into my own singing! Thanks Chris! 😎
You can find the isolated vocals of all the tracks on the new album (including this one) - would love to hear you listen to the isolated vocals and get your take on them 😁
Dont know if you would be interested in reacting but Billie and her Brother have a whole breakdown of the song but it goes more into the composition and production than just the vocals worth watching in your own time aswell ! great video
When she sings: "but if it's forever, it's even better", she sings it as if her heart is beating fast, catching little breaths, rapidly, and as if she's emotional and pouring out.
Since you enjoyed this song, you might like Billie and Finneas’ breakdown of this song. I might be on her UA-cam channel or the American Express channel.
Hearing a new/different side of a singers voice is always interesting. Especially with Billie when we're so used to their usual style. I like it ha. PS. My search auto complete reminded me that there's still no vids of you covering Hailey Reinhardt, specifically they're Creep cover with Postmodern Jukebox 😁
Yep, use of synthesisers on an electronic keyboard, to make the “ohhh uh ooooo hoooo” sounds. Band members asleep while recording, so improvised instruments, a few strings, base, keys, effects, added recordings and manipulations. Any back up vocals and male sounding voices, added at a later time when other band members awoke to add contemporary percussion, as electronic drums were easier to use alone. Music and ideas on how to sing it live added later, with lyrics refined, as whispering to stop other people from being woken (so done at a very low volume).
I started watching your stuff when I saw your video's about analyzing Michael Jackson's vocals, and you showed me thing in his voice and music I never even knew were there, and I have been a fan of him for years. The same's here for Billie. I absolutely adore her and her music, little things like the little silent "Stay" at the beginning of the track just felt fascinating to me. Thanks for showing us the true nature of vocalist and songs! You truly make some great video's, even if I don't sing myself. xD
Great analysis! If you're looking to hear more vocal energy from her, then definitely check out "The Greatest" from this album, or "Happier Than Ever" from the album of the same title, or "No Time to Die" from the James Bond film of the same title. :)
If you want to see even more "energy" from her, listen to The Greatest. There is some nice belting there. The live performance on Stephen Colbert is very impressive
imo that one part is her voice processed to sound like an instrument. i feel like it would be easier to process a voice to sound like an instrument than make an instrument (plugin) sound so much like a voice
Hey Chris, you should check out Novastar! A great artist with a unique voice, who's been around for a long time in Belgium. His song 'Wrong' is a gem and definitely worth a Chris Liepe analysis ;))
Finneas doesn't do any vocals on this song. Her isolated vocals from the album are floating around on UA-cam and it's all her. Finneas wasn't credited for this song on the album either. A couple other songs from the album that seem like they might be him are actually Billie's voice pitched down. That's according to an interview he did.
8:40 its very funny that you say that, i love michael (only artist i really listen to) and i really like some billie eilish songs, maybe she got inspired by him a bit.
Great video! I recommend listening to vocalist Jacob Allen in the band Puma blue. Especially in their newest Album Holy Waters. Love your vids and love these breakdowns!
Hey Chris I think i have a problem with my voice that im kind of concerned about. There’s a gap in my voice or something restraining me from entering and singing well in that space where it just breaks. I’ve also been trying to learn to scream properly but I just can’t get it and it doesn’t feel right and I don’t know what to do. Could you help with this?
Yes I can! And what you're experiencing is completely normal... No need for concern :) But I can help you work through the gap/break issue as well as help you scream properly. Start by joining my free course linked in the video description or pinned comment!
You want energy? The title track on happier than ever. She’s always had power, but unlike many many other singers she’s very restrained in using it. It proves she’s not a one trick pony and does a lot more the sing by numbers
I like the song, probably because it has the same chords, same key, and same drum beat as my 2017 song called Slow Burn, here's mine time stamped if you want to compare ua-cam.com/video/yAQLJAaJYSQ/v-deo.htmlsi=SZfCqfbM8Ig4J1KZ&t=17

She also said she couldnt have sing this song without the lessons
She's the first pop vocalist that has impressed me for decades.. This girl is Brilliant. This song is impeccable. Her entire new album is impeccable.!!!
Very nice analysis. I think that this partnerhsip with her brother (the producer) is just refreshing. She's so original. Love it.
what is more amazing is that she's learned a lot about vocal engineering and production, so she did a looootttt in this last record you know. more 50/50 than ever.
I absolutely love this song. Billie done a fantastic job with this song.
i think the sound you hear at the end is her voice modified and distorted to be used on a pad, so in a sense it's her voice used as an instrument
You should check out the album, it's a great song journey fr. AMAZING production in literally all of her songs
Your Passion for music and the things that happen to make the whole song happen is infectious and exhilarating to say the least, and I end up feeling Inspired
Chris liepe make me appreciate artists more to his vocal analysis of their voices

Your breakdown is awesome. Especially how you point out all of the nuances. 😊
you should react to her song “the greatest” the official version one. The production and her vocals are so amazing.
I love her whispery singing. She was the first that i can remember and suddenly there's a whole wave of young girls singing this way. She's so masterful. Heard her talking about how she is very intentional about when she sings out vs breathy. Love her!

Many great songs and Albums out this year but Billies is the best and will prove it for years to come

It truly is the difference between just music and art
And another very very insightful video from Chris!! All these great singers are perfect to learn from and integrate techniques into my own singing! Thanks Chris! 😎

I LOVE YOU CHRIIISSS YOU'RE A GOLD MINE FOR VOCAL SELF TEACHING !
please react to her singing The Greatest live on the late show!
Chris' face gestures are priceless 🤣
Took me a while to get into her but I enjoy her artistry
I love your analysis!
she's that girl
Dont know if you would be interested in reacting but Billie and her Brother have a whole breakdown of the song but it goes more into the composition and production than just the vocals
worth watching in your own time aswell ! great video
When she sings: "but if it's forever, it's even better", she sings it as if her heart is beating fast, catching little breaths, rapidly, and as if she's emotional and pouring out.
I liked her as an artist and her approach, and then was just smitten with her voice when she sang a song with a ukulele in Carpool Karaoke.
I have heard that this song is about her brother. They are really close, and she has said he is her best friend and always will be.
The Diner is a cool song, too!
The ”singing instrument” must be a theremin.
You can hear it used in a similar fashion by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band on ”Electricity”.
Since you enjoyed this song, you might like Billie and Finneas’ breakdown of this song. I might be on her UA-cam channel or the American Express channel.
Just watched it and loved it. Will be making a video about it actually!
Hearing a new/different side of a singers voice is always interesting. Especially with Billie when we're so used to their usual style. I like it ha.

Oh, yeah, he should totally react to that!

I'm honestly don't like of a lot of modern pop/hip-hop artists, but imo she is one of the few who deserves the hype.
Nice tune, very James Blake style song I feel, love it.
You have to hear The Greatest!
Great analysis! If you're looking to hear more vocal energy from her, then definitely check out "The Greatest" from this album, or "Happier Than Ever" from the album of the same title, or "No Time to Die" from the James Bond film of the same title. :)
Please do more billie 😭😭😭😭😭😭
If you want to see even more "energy" from her, listen to The Greatest. There is some nice belting there. The live performance on Stephen Colbert is very impressive
❤❤🎉🎉
I would love to hear what you have to say about Yebba, specifically My Mind, and Evergreen. She is an incredible singer
I love your michael jackson videos, and now you are posting a billie eilish video! It's my next favorite singer!! Thank you❤
imo that one part is her voice processed to sound like an instrument. i feel like it would be easier to process a voice to sound like an instrument than make an instrument (plugin) sound so much like a voice
That instrument at the end sounded like a Theremin tbh
Hey Chris, you should check out Novastar! A great artist with a unique voice, who's been around for a long time in Belgium. His song 'Wrong' is a gem and definitely worth a Chris Liepe analysis ;))
I think it’s Finian’s voice doing the high notes at the end
Finneas doesn't do any vocals on this song. Her isolated vocals from the album are floating around on UA-cam and it's all her. Finneas wasn't credited for this song on the album either. A couple other songs from the album that seem like they might be him are actually Billie's voice pitched down. That's according to an interview he did.
10:37 someone needs to hear “no time to die” and “the greatest”
8:40 its very funny that you say that, i love michael (only artist i really listen to) and i really like some billie eilish songs, maybe she got inspired by him a bit.
I read it was a theremin used in the last part that sounds like her voice im not sure
Please do THE GREATEST live from Jimmy Kemmel 🙌🏿
Great video! I recommend listening to vocalist Jacob Allen in the band Puma blue. Especially in their newest Album Holy Waters. Love your vids and love these breakdowns!
Can you review em beihold groundhog day or porcelain are some of her best

@@chrisliepe thank you for your quick response! I’ll be checking out your free course right now and continue watching your awesome videos. 😁👍
I love you Chris Could you make more fry scream videos🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This is just my thoughts on the outro that were not sure of - it could be her vocals imputed into a synth and edited that way?
Chihiro please!
The weird instrument sounds like a Theremin
Please react to Billie’s song CHIHIRO 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You should react to delvish girl by phantom siita, its a group associated by ado
hey i think you should do an Offspring analysis
Please react to the greatest by Billie eilish and post it
Please, react to Gabriel Henrique Vision of Love, acoustic version. Phenomenal.
I think Finneas keyed in her voice
Could you please also react to CHIHIRO or The Greatest by Billie Eilish? 🙂
The sound at the end sounds like a theremin to me
You want energy? The title track on happier than ever. She’s always had power, but unlike many many other singers she’s very restrained in using it. It proves she’s not a one trick pony and does a lot more the sing by numbers
Pretty sure that’s a theremin at the end there!
Please react to 'the greatest'
Comment for da algorithm

I thought it was a theramin at the end
