She thought he was a threat I guess that’s why she wanted someone to kill her? It’s really confusing would have thought she hired a hit man for the stalker who wouldn’t leave her alone. "Stay away from the internet for self help" you say. Many years ago I was in a very bad place mentally and felt that I just couldn't open up and tell anyone I knew about it. Not even my siblings or parents. One night I felt I just had to talk to someone, so I started a thread on a forum that's considered quite controversial in my native Sweden, asking for help. Someone almost immediately sent me a PM on the forum and we ended up having a long conversation. That conversation made me comfortable with opening up to my family (which I did the next day). To this day I have no idea who I was talkning to or even the gender of the person (anonymity is very importat on that forum, and we only communicated through PMs), but I will be forever grateful to him or her and now I've been very healthy mentally for years. Because assisting someone with their death is illegal. You're probably too young to remember Dr. Kevorkian.
      Murad Jacob "Jack" Kevorkian (May 26, 1928 - June 3, 2011) was an American pathologist and euthanasia proponent. He publicly championed a terminal patient's right to die by physician-assisted suicide, embodied in his quote, "Dying is not a crime". Kevorkian said that he assisted at least 130 patients to that end. He was convicted of murder in 1999 and was often portrayed in the media with the name of "Dr. Death".
      Oddly enough, physician-assisted "medical aid in dying", is now legal in eleven jurisdictions: California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Montana, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. It is more commonly known as "Death with Dignity."
      This is quite different than what happened in this case, however. A patient must be confirmed by two physicians to be terminally ill with a prognosis of 6 months or less to live and must also be confirmed by two physicians to be mentally capable to make medical decisions. I believe in other countries, people who suffer from certain serious mental illnesses are also able to choose this option, in addition to patients who are terminally ill.
      It will never be legal to assist someone with their suicide, however, though obviously there is no law against killing one's self, as there is no one to charge for a successful act of such. As far as I know there are no laws that apply to failed suicide attempts in the U.S., either.

      @King_WhiteWolf 11 місяців тому +11

      Her father's lack of presence in her life when she was younger doesn't automatically mean he didn't love her, even back when she was young.
      He was _put_ in jail, which generally speaking is not a voluntary decision.
      While one can certainly make the argument that a parent partaking in illegal shenanigans which could result in them being separated from their children is poor parenting and bad decision-making - and they'd be 100% correct in that assertion - it also doesn't mean on it's own merit that they don't love said children.
      We human beings as a race behave in contradictory ways _constantly_ and often times do so in direct opposition to our own values or beliefs. You are certainly guilty of this at times in your life, even if you think you're not guilty of it or convince yourself you're genuinely not; you still are. So is everyone else - myself included.
      We do these things not necessarily because we don't hold or have those values and beliefs (though that's sometimes the case too), but because we're notoriously bad at impulse control and discipline, and we allow various factors and influences to impact the actions we ultimately take even if we know they're wrong or know we'll regret them or know they go against our own will or best-interest.
      And while none of that makes taking such actions acceptable or the right thing to do, nor does it excuse one of the consequences of those actions, it _does_ mean that sometimes we take actions that have consequences which seem apathetic or uncaring of someone we actually genuinely care about or love.
      A person can love someone and still fail them miserably, unfortunately. That's one of the reasons love is so difficult to manage and be comfortable with, because it is most often those we love who can or do hurt us the most, regardless of whether or not they meant to.
      Regardless, gatekeeping someone's pain like this, that is to say dismissing or diminishing their right or desire to see the killer of their loved one be brought to justice and punished for their crimes, is far more ironic and lame than the person you're admonishing. *Especially* considering your entire perspective is based on your own surface level assumptions made with very little or no deeper context beyond that presented to you by a single 3rd party investigator.
      You definitely have some growing up to do bud.

    I think he didn’t mention the drugs use because that was a big part of the death. She had stated she couldn’t go through with suicide, so clearly the act of death was terrifying, she was a heroin user previously, so the opportunity to take a drug where nothing else matters while someone commits the act for you is pretty obvious. The heroin would have done the job, he just shouldn’t have pulled the trigger.

      If you've got enough money you might be able to go to a country that supports self-deletion. But I think it takes at least 10 grand. I'm trying to remember which country it was that finally allowed it for mental health, but the first person who acheived it fought for that right for over 5 years before they finally granted it. It would be cheaper to just order the infamous "how to..." book or maybe just buy some fenty and hope it's not an under cover cop, but then you'd still have to do it alone. I bet my comment gets removed. 😅
