I was being sparing with my health flask until about the 5th time I died when I saw that I still had full charges. Then I took the time at last to actually read the text of the modifiers and found that one of them restored 1.5 charges every 8 seconds so you're not relying on killings ads to recharge. Don't know how common that affix is but worth knowing it exists.
I pretty much spend all my orbs w Of transmutation and the one After that, or next to it, just trying to get that affix on my health and Mana flask. Running all 6 characters
Being new to PoE2 and not having played Dark Souls, I didn't appreciate the whole telegraphing moves and attacks mechanic. I dodge the things that show up on the ground, but something line the "every sentence he attacks" taught me something. I had a friend help me through with my witch, but my next trio through, I'll be more prepared now.
Loved this fight, I was totally taken in by the atmosphere and spectacle. The lead up to it with Geonor's posted proclamations getting increasingly more unhinged as we progressed through the act was a master stroke in storytelling. I've never enjoyed an ARPG boss fight as much as I did this one and I can't wait to see the rest.
An important tip is to not save resources . Use support gems. Use skill gems to level up skills. Gamble at Finn for the piece that is lowest level. I beat this fight on second try. Not because I’m super skilled, because I’m not. I’m terrible at dodging in time. But because I have no gold and I just constantly gamble at Finn so I have yellow pieces everywhere and all those pieces have increase dmg. Residences and passive health regen per second. And passive mana regen and shield capacity and regen. Every skill has a support gem in it including my basic attack. All the skills I use were level 5. Use your resources you get and the game isn’t that difficult
I didn’t have any resistance whatsoever and he did one shot me a couple of times but you can dodge his moves pretty easily after a couple of deaths . By like try 5 I did it zero damage and no resistance
I already beat this boss, but I came to this video to figure out what I was missing about figuring out the fog/add phase timings. Always a treat to come to your vids, Sparty. Does anyone know if there are s on dodges/mobilities, or is it just hitbox porn when things whiff sometimes?
Act 1 fight is the first fight where the game tells, "You need to focus on Res from this point on!" I don't think getting magic Potions are required, but def can make it easier. In that regard some things you want to look for in your pots to make the game easier over all are, "% healed instantly", if not go for "increased healing recovered" Another one is like what was said in the video "#charges per second" ->"gain charges on kill"->"uses less charges" Equipment stats and buffs are dependent on the requirements for wearing them. Strength equipment will get you more armor, Intelligence will get you more Energy Shield, Dexterity will get you more Evasion. When you craft on them they are more likely to give you more of that defense. When putting points in the tree early on it would benefit you to place some points in buffing it. In PoE1 mixed defense gear is better than single defense gear, that may not be the case in PoE2. Especially early, use the gear your skills and class asks for. If you mostly use Monk skills do a mix of Energy Shield and Evasion. If you mostly use Warrior skills use armor. Most importantly have fun and good luck Exiles.
I think the trick with Poe 2’s skill tree is pure damage. Every build I’ve seen that goes for defenses in the tree is terrible until late late game. The gameplay of this arpg isn’t about trading damage like the others. It’s about avoiding it. Personally, I’d recommend going full offense in the passive tree, full defense on armor except the gloves, and full offense on weapons. Also, warriors suck unless you do some aoe totem build where you don’t even hit with your weapon
I used your advice to spec into some life gain on kill but I can barely kill any adds for some reason so I get out of the mist with 50% life gone. I just had a big upgraded weapon too, a whole 24 dps more than last one! Definitely reminds me of the swordsmen in Poe 1, in the arena. He even uses big ice aoe and talks too much.
I beat him and then died right after to his “raining from the sky” ability and all items de-spawned… I under stand WHY GGG designed it this way, but dear god there needs to be exceptions for major bosses or something…absolutely gutted after it took so many attempts…
He really only hs a few really dangerous attacks. I’ve not beat him yet but I’ve got the hang of him. Just need to quit being greedy. About respecing as monk- there’s not a lot of passive life regen available. Maybe later on at around level 50 but at level 19 ? No.
Took me just under 15 tries. Was extremely fun. I had to leave initially, then level up and get better gear. Almost done with act 2 now. Once you learn the ropes of combat, the bosses get easier.
I've never beaten a souls-like. I'm not a hardass. I genuinely don't know how people are struggling with this game. Is it just so popular that cozy game people are playing or am I missing something?
Basically pattern recognition has been co opted by souls borne games to the masses. So everyone just calls any boss requiring any modicum of learning patterns in nay way in a way is now "Dark souls".
I beat him first try Both with Witch and Mercenary and im a poe noob. I really wonder why ppl struggle a lot with this. I had a much higher wipe count on some other Bosses in Act 1

Holy shit that great info. Thanks
@@veggiebroth5542 My bad, it's 0.15 every second (memory failed me) so still pretty amazing.

Thank you, after watching this video and updating my cold resistance I was able to take out Count Geonor.

He is a good reminder of how important resistance is in POE… I had been going full damage and paid for it in this fight

I've already beat this boss before this video came out and I am almost done with act 2. Idk why but this video is just entertaining. Good work.

It has Iframes to attacks and projectiles, but not to AoE attacks spells on the ground
@@IceyMillennium Legendary, thank you for the info!
@@IceyMillenniumoh my god thank you for letting me know! I was under the assumption that there was no i-frames at all
Boots with plus to movement speed will help you immensely.

oh shit man i'm sorry, i was saying health REGEN - that way it's passively going up. If anything, you'd prob want life leech or life on hit!
I've done all of this still cant beat him probably 30 plus attempts. Maybe I'll just quit the game :( was having fun too
Does this boss drop any loot?
As I killed him one of the sky attacks killed me, so I lost any loot he may drop.

The presentation of the boss is amazing
I haven't to this boss yet, so having this information is useful.
Extremely annoying fight with mele build!
I was only able to beat him using a Monk
I beat this boss after 15 to 20 tries at level 17, great fight, great music, great gameplay..

i didn't use cold resist to beat him.
Lol, i'm stuck at this mf since level 15 an i am 20 now 😂
lol I didn’t even realize it was the act 1 boss when I beat it lol
The last 25% of his life is the worst but fun

I think we have been trained to press forward and attack most of the time and that doesn’t work here
@veggiebroth5542 solid answer, thanks. Guess I grew up with FF and Kingdom Hearts bosses, so memorizing attack patterns and persistence is ingrained.

Try it with melee, especially a warrior. It's much harder than with ranged.
lmfao holy the pauses just let us watch the fight and learn stop talking
Good tips, thx for sharing
