BYU absolutely got shafted. Yes it absolutely matters. It means byu has to win the conference championship. If BYU drops a single game, even if they go on to win the conference championship they’re at risk to not get a bye because conference champion Boise state could be above them. And to your point about how byu has looked in the games, look at Penn state. Penn state barely beat USC in overtime, barely pulled away in the 4th quarter against bowling green, and have 0 top 25 wins and have a loss. There is absolutely no logical argument for why BYU should be below Penn State and the arguments for Texas, Tennessee, and Indiana over byu are pretty weak too. It’s purely the name. If Alabama had the exact same resume as byu does right now they’d be at worst #2 in the country and it’s forced BYU into a situation where I don’t know if they can get into the playoff without winning their conference.
Furthermore, look at Miami. Why is Miami 4 and byu 9? I’m not saying byu should be above Miami but their resumes are almost identical in terms of quality wins and eye test/closeness of games. They’ve both played some closer games against teams they should have blown out. But with all things almost identical, one is 5 spots above the other separated by 3 one loss teams, 2 of which have 0 top 25 wins. Make it make sense.
If a service academy goes undefeated, they deserve a bye, most of these kids will play for millions And if you want to ensure a fair schedule, mandatory prior year top ten
Great Show! Just found it. Good Find
Did you say all Indiana does is, WIN, WIN, WIN, AND EVERYBODY HANDS GO UP!!! I like that.

Don’t forget that these are rankings, not seedlings. BYU should be seeded in the top 5 with a bye at the end of the regular season.
