I think one of the things that a good dad should do is NOT pressure their kids to succeed in public k-12 schooling. People are quick to admit that k-12 is mostly superfluous and merely obedience training and a glorified daycare system, but they'll still pressure their own kids to succeed in such a poor education system. Kids can learn more about real life from their own parents than the school. It's more important to have ambition outside of the k-12 system. Connections and skills are everything. from my experience, the best opportunity is though a connection of mine (IT consultant work); great paying work, all expenses payed - hotel, per diem for food, rental cars. And I dropped out of elementary school - literally. I knew when I was 8 years old how silly k-12 was.
