Nice catch there Jan. Don’t know who noticed the barley in the tmr but whoever did saved y’all a bunch of money. I’m sure your dad was glad in the end that it was corrected.
That was a whole lot extra work, but glad you found the problem .....fairly on time. When dad took out the screen and gave you that look, for some reason I knew there was more to it. Hope your rest of week goes well.
LMAOOOO..."Risk it for the biscuit sometimes"...I'm stealing that one 😂😂😂. Great catch noticing that feed being Off...Eagle 🦅 Eyes 👀. 14k is ALOT of money to waste 😮. Just watching Your Dad makes me feel relaxed...he's sooo chill 😊. Great video as ALWAYS. ❤.
Amazing video Jan! You have a great eye for seeing things that might be missed by others. Shows up in your amazing drone work and today's barley snow blowing off the cab of the truck. So no surprise you'd pick up on a small bit of whole grain in the feed. Glad you were able to solve the issue. Much appreciated ~ you sharing your vision through your filming, videos, and editing!
Glad you caught the mistake in time. I saw a lot of flies on the food. What are they flies after? I just did not think they would eat or lay eggs on the grain and grasses the cows eat.
good morning all ~ I am so impressed 🤠 I'd like to share some Historic memories I have from Quebec's Dairy farming world, I was close in my early years 1970's ... to becoming a Dairy Farmers wife, in Howick / Ormstown area's, 45 minutes from the city Montreal. the McKell's family consisted of 6 children = 4 boys + 2 girls, NO ONE took over the farm. They milked around 30-40 cows. I was always intrigued by the whole process, some of the things I witnessed was really gross & shocking, being a city gurl! thier farm has been dead for decades now. today's farming world & especially Your operation took most of that disgust away & is so efficient! I am in awe to your operation! Keep it clean, real, & continue to save the earth. Plant more Tree's! thank you for this amazing Canadian content. Peace & Love to all 😇🥰
Most interesting. You do such a good job making videos and explaining what you are doing. Could see your dad getting frustrated but still had steady reasoning, just like his fine son. You are the best, Jan. Good on you.
Your father reminds me so much of my father-in-law who farmed his whole entire life, pretty laid-back and if a problem comes up, look at it, figure it out, and fix it.
Risk it for a biscuit, I thought that was an English phrase, you Canadians sure make us laugh. Take care of yourselves over the pond, hope you have a successful year, I always enjoy watching your videos, please keep 'em coming, love from England.
Good score way to have the eye on the prize. I really like your operation because of all of the Farms on UA-cam you are the only ones that I saw to bring out a broom. Small details make big dollars.
Hey Jon I'm just about 25 miles from Sudenga plant in George Ia when I was on the farm all our augers for livestock were sudenga red. We used them alot for moving grain
Here is an example where the term “ Eyes Wide Open “ could not apply more. Walking down the alleyway could be watching the birds or staring at the sky but picked out a very small but important detail that could have had major repercussions. I felt the frustration in your Dad’ voice when he spotted the screen. It’s been a week of challenges for sure. Good thing that was a relatively easy fix and once again back on track.🚂
Just subscribed about a week ago. can't wait to watch your videos. I learn things I didn't know each video. You are very good with the videos and your knowledge. I've started going back and watching some of the older videos, like this one. Keep it up, love seeing these. Thanks for sharing !
When you said, "It never goes easy," I felt that pain. You are fortunate that the PTO shaft came off so easily. I always had to hammer mine off even after wire brushing before install.
Loving this Channel Jan, im just starting up farming in Central Sask which is no easy feat these days and look to your videos for inspiration! Keep up the good work and Efficiency first!
That's great and I hope it works out for you. You are right, it is not easy and I hope you have some help meaning financial backing from your parents if you're taking over the farm.
@@cindifischer6919 Brand new farm bought a couple quarters and am starting from scratch. i have 2 IH 1066s and a massey 4840, and a willing uncle to loan me a seeder and a combine for the first year!
You might want to shorten your pto shaft for the different tractor or maybe lengthen the drawbar on the versatile if you can or else you will do in your hardy splicers or the carrying bearing on the front of the chopper, can’t remember if it’s the jf or tarrup that would also do in the gearbox if the shaft was too long but that’s an expensive way to find out your shaft needed to be shortened. The pins are worn because the shaft is a bit too long is what I’m getting at, sorry for the lack of clarity. Regards from Ireland.
Considering the cost implications of wasting feed, do you need some kind of detector which would detect that the hammer mill was passing out whole grains? I just love your father's hat, maybe it is time for a new one soon.
Awesome video Jan you're videos are a joy to watch Your such a hard worker showing all aspects of farming the good days and bad Risk it for a biscuit 😂😂 haven't herd that saying in a long time Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
about your case tractor, if I understood your sister right right you have issues with the pto kicking out? we had that 2 years ago on our magnum, turned out it was the alternator, if I understood the mechanic right there are sensors on the pto for rpm and the alternator that need to match but they didn't, after we put a new alternator in problem was gone, maybe get it checked out?
Usually wear on the PTO yoke clamp bolts or pins is due to the sliding tube sections binding through being the wrong length or not properly lubricated; this puts longitudinal forces on the shaft, and therefore the pins....😮
There's been a lot going wrong lately. I bet that’s weighing heavy on your dad’s mind. You just deal with it the best you can. I hope it doesn’t keep him awake at night.
Despite video footage that may be maliciously misconstrued to the contrary, the truck driver always obeys the posted speed limit and thus was in full compliance with the Traffic Safety Act of Saskatchewan.
We drive out in the country to look for cows, in the past we seen good sized herds. This year with the ongoing extreme drought in Texas, we see a few if any
A spray can of open gear lube makes it easy to lube PTO shaft yoke spline and sliding tube.Careful not to bottom PTO shaft so You don't bugger up retainer bolts.
I may never enjoy the dairy products that your beautiful animals produce but I do appreciate all the hard work you all do. 👍🏻👍🏻and God bless you all 💪🏽🙏💖🐝👏

Your dad must be just as proud of you each day as he is frustrated that the both of you are so similar! Great catch.

Thanks friend Jan for the new episode; Mistake Could've Cost Us Thousands! WOW 😲
Great information about the barley and how the cows digest it!
Thanks!
Is your dad always so mellow?
On camera yea
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊
I was just going to say, I bet he's very mellow on camera. But, what's he like off camera. Lol
I bet he's like my father quiet and easy going until you push him and make him snap. Then he's scary.
@@dangerdavis5655 EXACTLY what I've Always thought too. Lol
awesome video Jan and Dad.. thank you both

Nice squeeze chute. However loose the tub and install a bud box.
good stuff
Time to update the channel description and also will be a good idea to add the instagram link. 😊
Risk it for the biscuit can sometimes result in Operator Error.
Especially if it is limp...and there is a cookie involved somehow.
The fun never ends does it 😱😡🤬 Good catch Jan Well done. 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourselves, be safe 🇨🇦

I am partial to the versatile too, but thats because I worked on the line building those tractors here in Winnipeg.

Also, a safety cover on the shaft keeps the sliding sections cleaner......😊
The lengths were off so this would make sense!

Great video again! However I've got a different question today. Where do you go for shopping? Do you have to drive always all the way to Saskatoon?
I go to our local grocery store here in town and sometimes Walmart
Glad u caught it in time
Same!
Lol....the word for today is "buggared"!
It’s a great word!
Hi there kitty I’m so happy
How long does a average video take for you to make it
Good catch on that barley man wowzer
I use the forks to lift the bucket as high as I can n slide it off and it cleans it out
That CN broom dose a good job.

When I was a young kid (5-6), when my parents talked about heifers/cows being bred. I kept looking for loafs of bread!!!
Jan, what do you doforfunwhen you don't have to work?
Where did you learn the word " bugger ". I remember it from my early years, I think my Uncle Ted, said it. He was English.
We drive out in the country to look for cows, in the past we seen good sized herds. This year with the ongoing extreme drought in Texas, we see a few if any
Ok I have heard this term before in your videos.. “Rental Barn”. Is it a barn you rent out?
“Reno” just a nic name for a barn that we renovated in the past
👍

Cleaning up the front end loader…what a crappy job.
Ha ha ha ha
If you would have blown the horn, the last straw would haven been blown away...
Boy, that sure sucked to have to redo all that grain. Good thing it happened during a slow time on the farm.
That is also a great point! Kinda lucky I guess 😂
and decent weather
I may never enjoy the dairy products that your beautiful animals produce but I do appreciate all the hard work you all do. 👍🏻👍🏻and God bless you all 💪🏽🙏💖🐝👏
If the truck didn't fit use the feed wagon, we used to haul in grain all the time with ours.
"did you try" 😆
Hahaha nope
I've heard of refried beans Now reground barley.
On the plus side when you spread that manure you will get a great barley crop. LOL
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
