Can I just say that you can really see the difference in agility in this battle as he mentioned. Demi consciously tries to incorporate riffs and runs to her singing whereas for Tori it just feels natural and she doesn't seem to have to think about it. Nothing against Demi of course. I will say whoever put that comparison video together clearly prefers Tori, you can tell based on the clips chosen. I feel like it’s down to personal preference. Both are super talent but I’m always going to lean more towards Demi because I feel more emotionally connected to her performances.
I'm thinking we should rename the vocal Trinity to include Tori because that woman can sing just about anyone under the table, she'll run right past you if you let her! 🏃Demi is also ridiculous, I prefer her vibrato (that's just a preference thing) but her melisma is gut-punching, Tori you know is going to smack you in the face with hers so you're somewhat prepared while Demi's sneaks up on you! In reference to Demi's hoarseness that was what she was going for (it was supposed to be more of a growl though) she was trying to evoke more emotion but either way you look at it they're both at the very top of the list of vocalists working today...two vocal monsters if you ask me! 🤯 (just my opinion)
@@muhamadzainurahman3210 I totally agree with you about Jessie and while no doubt Ariana is an amazing singer I just don't think she's on that level yet, it could just be a preference issue for me. (Just my opinion)

Tori has the agility, tonal qualities and ear of THE Mariah Carey! This is coming from a hardcore Lamb! She's my second favourite after Mother Lambily ❤️❤️❤️
I think Tori is better then demi C#5-F5, but demi is way better in the lower belts like A4-C5 and better F#5-A5, because usually tori has to really push the notes out above F5, and even E5 sometimes, while demi is usually pretty relaxed in that area, and I also prefer demi's powerful tone and grit, but I really love tori's agility, theyre good at their own thing so it all comes down to personal preference at the end.
Ok I've loved Demi since camp rock days and I love tori too but I guess I have a soft spot for demi. However I'm not gonna be biased. Firstly some of you in the comments are talking about demi and high larynx but you all need to realise that tori in my opinion sometimes has a high larynx position. Also, we all know demi has a big voice and yes she does add unecessary weight to voice at times but those other times when she sounds big and chest doesnt necessarily mean she is pushing and also sometimes its the vowel that she is using why it may sound the way it does. Take her anyone performance at the Grammys. And she isnt shouting. I'm not saying she has never shouted ever cause I dont know that. But ive heard some so called vocal coaches react to her and there like oh "she is shouting" and I feeling like its because some people are in a box when it comes to vocal techniques which is why to them if you dont sound polished and pretty and bright your technique is bad. Dont get me wrong neither demi or tori has "perfect" tech...in my opinion but tori's technique, I think, will allow her to perform alot without losing her voice as much or as fast as demi would especially since some of her songs are so vocally demanding. Again that doesnt mean demi technique is bad or whatever. For example think of someone lifting a 5kg dumbbell with good technique vs someone lifting a 20kg with the same technique, same amount of reps. Neither is using poor technique its just that one is using more power than the other so the latter will last longer. All I'm saying is try to be a little more open minded and realise that sounding pretty and sweet doesnt equal good technique and sounding chesty and powerful and loud is all bad, no. If you all have ears to you'll see that demi, in my opinion has "mastered" her registers, except head voice and whistle since I've never really heard her do it and when she is too heavy up top for example her not so good bb5 or b5 live in fall in line given that she probably shouldve lightend some more to hit the note properly. Otherwise, she mixes really well and she can color her voice however she wants. She can sing just as pretty as Tori and completely different as well. Tori is more pleasant to the ear and riff and run wise she kicks demi's ass. Technique can be argued from various perspectives by different people but for me its generally down to preference. I love them both so it's hard to choose who I think is "better" vocally I love both their voices so it really down to the song and delivery for me. Lastly for what it's worth, some times I'll hear demi sing and in my head I'm like "that must be tiring and sometimes I'm like tgats a little tight. Same with tori, for the most part I'll hear her she sounds great but technique wise I'll think " that sounded a little tight and these things may or may not mean good or bad technique cause it may feel easy for them but sounds different to the ear. However I'm not gonna get into that.
Look at her f#5 in confident in the video, I'm no vocal coach but I think it was good. Very belty and may ne tiring of done on repeat but technically good. And see also how her voice just just hits the "wrong" at the top with easy...again powerful and a chesty mix. It didnt sound sweet and polished like how tori would sound but it was technically good.
And I disagree with the note in speechless, the one he said was strained...you cant strain and have that seamless transition up t ok that high g#5. Maybe at the beginning on "weakneesss" Maaayybee but I disagree. That high g#5 was too resonant, well mixed and open to be strain. That my POV since I'm not vocal coach bug....
For the first clip you stated the note wasn’t audible for Demi but it was literally clear and I definitely would’ve given the point to Demi because she had more depth than tori in the first clip
Y’all are giving Demi a bit too much. She’s good no doubt, but when it comes to her peers like Jessie J, JoJo, Tori Kelly, Ariana etc she lags behind all of them.

demi's voice almost always sounds super pushed and tense to me. you can especially hear it in her vibrato, she just really lacks freedom overrall. she also kind of always sounds like she's shouting in her belts above c5, ( probably because she doesn't have great control of her volume output or larynx position). but when she's on it - her voice is super resonant
i think its because her chest is more dominant that leads to the projection wise as well. As you can see her chest mix can litteraly go up to Bb5 which is her highest belt. nevertheless just my pov .
@@jamesligam6493 yeah she definitely has a chestier mix especially in the low and mid belts, but honestly even there she often sings with a lot of tension and unstable larynx position. there are a lot of singers who have a chestier mix (which like you said sounds a little more pushed anyway) in low to mid belts, but not all of them have the problems with shakiness, uneven vibrato, lack of ease, and tone quality that Demi does a lot of the time - Whitney and Yolanda Adams are good examples. And even as Demi adds more head voice into her mix (like F or G5 - Bb5), she's even more tense and her larynx is even more unstable. So I think it's really more of an issue with tension, larynx position, support and probably vowel modification. Making her mix more even would definitely help, but I don't think it's the majority of the problem.
@@Ades2 yeah thanks for highlight that but yeah as for this generation wise, as a singer/artist vocally she is definitely in the league of Ariana, Tori, and Jojo as well, as she now is improving her vibrato, mix / belting wise and etc.Go check her recent performance she is great!
False.
