I still can hardly bear to watch it; the resignation in one so young.

I still cry ever time I see this
One of the greatest scenes in cinema history for sure
A heartbreaking dialogue that reflects one of the most important themes of the film and it passes by so quickly and in such a "matter of fact" manner. It did not hit me until the third time I watched the movie.
Ozu is a genius of subtle storytelling, always leaving the audience something more to discover.
Brilliant film
Ozu seems like he makes movies for advance AI made by advance aliens that has the ability to fully appreciate his movies. But still so damned human, maybe more human than any movie made.
My favorite movie, along with Wings of Desire and Babette's Feast. (1987 was a good film year, as was 1953).
I have Playlists for both those years! 1987= ua-cam.com/play/PLUTcPWY0FN2HGSN0VcQ9m1l8SDNlfdVTj.html
and 1953 = ua-cam.com/play/PLUTcPWY0FN2FrtLBaAcW32XfgKOioqvuC.html
Great human story - ever seen
