That is a mated pair of groundhogs...they must have a nest nearby. They become active in the Spring, after a winter hibernation, once it starts warming up some. They will be raising a litter of babies soon.
Beavers have to stay close to water . These are groundhogs . 1 + 1 equals 2 . They might have babies now . Looks like a nesting place . If no babies now they will have them soon . Cute little critters .
Yes these are groundhogs. They are also called woodchucks or my favorite whistle-pigs. They make a whistle noise when alarmed. Your friend is right they are tasty. haha They are actually in the squirrel family. They are not beavers but are called land beavers as actual beavers live in water and they kind of resemble a beaver somewhat. I live about 45 minutes from the most famous one called Punxy Phil. BTW that movie was ridiculous. They probably live under that shed or have a hole dug somewhere on the property.
If it tail is fluffy its a ground hog, if its tail is flat without fur, its a beaver. Can't real tell in the video. Old eyes 👵😆 edit - and if its tail is skinny but has no fur, its a muskrat. 🤷♀️ (the husband pointed out I missed the muskrat)
They look like giant prairie dogs so Alex, I'm gonna go with "what is a groundhog for $200." (,(I'm not 💯 on how sure I am.) If one is male and the other is female, be prepared for many little ones soon. I don't know if that's a good thing or not! 🤷🏽😂
That is likely where they have a den under that pile of wood. Don't be surprised if you see babies soon. They'll tear up a vegetable garden in no time .
Ummm...if there's 2 there'll probably be more. Btw, the 1967 edition of The Joy of Cooking has a recipe for woodchuck...and squirrel, raccoon, opossum... Judi can use that big heavy skillet.
Nope those are Muskrats, they can get as fat as a beaver but will not build dams no matter how hard they might want to. It is a medium-sized semiaquatic rodent native to North America, I live in the Mountains of WV and we have them I have a couple (mom & pop) that comes to eat the greens on the other side of the road. lol Watch your veggies in the garden if you have one.
Anybody else start yelling, "Ellen!... Ellen!... Ellen!" ?
It's a groundhog. They love vegetables.
Groundhogs for sure. Where there are two, in the spring, there will soon be many more.
"How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" 😄😄😄
"A woodchuck would chuck all the wood that a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood."
Summer is finally here! Hello baby groundhogs lol 😆 whoot!!
They might be starting a family, so soon, there may be more.
Beavers!? People! Please! They're groundhogs.

Definitely groundhogs
Awe hes so cute❤
How cute!! They are gonna build you a dam!
You have them confused with beavers. Groundhogs are just annoying.
Yep. Upon closer look they don't have a paddle tail.
Other than a bit of annoying destruction (not guarantied)... a bit of wildlife in the garden is a good sign.
Does anyone else think that might be what the indigenous people said when the "settlers" started arriving? Who is taking over from whom?
this time of year.... always 2.... pregnant one and the stud
These are groundhogs just like Punxsutawney Phil
Beavers have a paddle tail

100% Groundhogs
Did they go away once you move the down logs out? Asking because it looks like they were living in it like prime real estate waterfront property.

You might need to charge rent
That’s a ground hog
That is likely where they have a den under that pile of wood. Don't be surprised if you see babies soon.
They'll tear up a vegetable garden in no time .
Looks more like a groundhog to me. They can be really destructive. Out here they sometimes carry plauge.

Ground hogs need to go. They can do a lot of damage.
Ummm...if there's 2 there'll probably be more. Btw, the 1967 edition of The Joy of Cooking has a recipe for woodchuck...and squirrel, raccoon, opossum... Judi can use that big heavy skillet.
