One of the best bluegill trips of my life. As soon as i ended this video i started another one with the Kestrel and caught another 50 fish without moving! They were ALL STACKED HERE WITHOUT BEDS! Some kind of staging i guess...
You got a love and enjoy every one of those days when they happen. All the different people I watch on UA-cam and how the hooks come out of the fish's mouth your jig heads are absolutely the best Don't lose fish and they come out so softly without harming the fish badly.
What can you teach me about hook setting on a slow rod? I hear some people say get a fast action because it helps with hook sets. Maybe you have a video that addresses this and I just have not found it 🤔
that is 100% nonsense. From start to end. Not a gram of truth there. You have NOTHING to learn! I set up the hook with a very short backward twitch, so in case the fish is not there, my jig is still in the red zone. If you swing for the fence, u will move the jig 20 feet away, and if a fish was still chasing your jig, you lost it
great video with lots of catches, well done! it reminds me of my sea catches, sea fish fight hard and also you never know what big one might be caught. for horse mackerel I prefer white, transparent and natural colors. but, when they bite, they bite one after the other, just like in the video. regardless of color and size, weather conditions... if they are there, they will eat everything, although they can be outwitted. I use UL/L equipment black hole rockfish 0.5-7g rod, daiwa legalis/fuego 2k, braid 0.06 and FC seaugar soft 0.16. cheers and thanks!
all japanese worms are always transparent. That actually bothers me because i fish dirty water and transparent is invisible. But if u fish a clear ocean..
I caught several fish today... finally. I super glued a Black Hose Fly onto a BG 1.25 size 12 hook. Threw in the same places that I'd been throwing all week. First fish slammed it after 4 sets of twitches and falls, and was about 7 inches. Second fish was about 4 inches. Caught a couple of smaller 3 - 4 inch ones. I think they were the "taps" I'd been getting throughout the week on other lures, but not hooking up. I do believe that the #12 hook helped catch the smaller fish. I found a nice Crappie on the same set up, and a couple of other 7 inch gills. I also threw a small crank bait and swan a Charlie Brewer 1" panfish grub. No hits at all! The Black on Black Horse Fly / BG1 was the ticket for me today. So glad I've invested in these jig heads. More bites and hook ups, no problems landing the fish once they're hooked, and they're way easier to unhook. Win, Win, Win! Thank you Victor!
Awesome bluegill fishing! I don't think I've ever caught that many fish in one day before. Just out of curiosity... Where did you pick up that hook keeper? That wouldcome in really handy on an older rod I have.
You have convinced me to get the xul version of this rod 😂 I currently own the Canyon Creek 7' Ultralight any chance you have felt this rod for some comparison? I like the rod but can't twitch with it.
@@ifishcatfish those were some beautiful bluegills,,,the lakes down here in North Carolina are the same way ,,plenty of nice gills n shell crackers that will fill a dinner plate.
I have a 2024 Ultralight Rod buying guide, but 8 foot is the longest. Usually they are 6 footers. 12 foot is for vertical jigging, and i never do that..
Action, yes, by accident. XUL is more parabolic and the UL has a stiff first half and bends mostly in the first half. But the biggest difference is the POWER. XUL stands for POWER, not action. The XUL is altogether a thinner and more finessy rod. The UL is more powerful blank
it is some old ebay dehooker that i bent backwards so it makes a fork, instead of a circle. I need to make my own dehooker, because most of them are made for big fish and they are not convenient to work for ultralight
Is there a difference in casting distance between the 2.1lb and 2.3lb ester line? Just ordered it based on your recommendation but they only have 2.3lb in stock. I plan on casting 1/64 and 1/32 bg 1 jigs
yes, goddamit, there IS! Definitely! In the spring when i fish STRICTLY bluegill beds, i use only the 2.1 lb. But the rest of the year i use 2.3 as i get bass and catfish too often..
It really is a crying shame that BG's can be harvested during spawn. Especially the first couple spawns of spring and summer. Gloves are great ! Drove my truck home from my fishing hole, wearing the gloves. Didn't want to take them off. Lol😂😊😅

Just ordered the new rod, I can’t wait to get it here to pair with my 21 presso!

@@ifishcatfishI think this video made me want to go fishing, brb in the comment section later lol
Love your enthusiasm! Can't wait for the Belleza rod review!!
Thanks for taking us along on you blue gill trip. I would rather be lucky than good. LOL.
always!
I love days when it’s a non stop bite. Just get hammered every cast. Perfect equipment equals excellent results! Great day.
not many days like that... a few days a year : )
My favourite bluegill spot on UA-cam

Nice…….everything eats in March, April, and May!😂
This was a good day! Not many good days this year!
You earned a new subscriber. Great content. Do you have a Japanese surf fishing rod recommendation? Something along the line of 10'6" - 12'?
