Hi Ben. Great vid again. The beach south of Loch Fleet is Embo Beach and Grannies Hielin Hame Holiday Park. Went on holiday there for many years. Remember when the sun going down the mannie casting weird shadows. I'm sure they called it "Golspies Lordly Stane" also. Cheers
Have been up there biking a few times and I remember being in the pub after one time. Met a couple of locals who wanted it to stay "so nobody forgets what the basturt did!"
Interesting video. As you said, the statue makes for a talking point and reminds people of what happened. Personally, if it had happened to my ancestors, I would want to see him removed from the top and replaced with a more respectful reminder but still a reminder. I am sure someone could come up with something that would fit the top involving a woman clutching a baby with a child clinging to her skirt and a plaque added to explain why the statue is there and how he was replaced etc. As for walking on mountain bike trails. I've go no qualms whatsoever about walking on them. I will give way because I don't want to end up in hospital but the number of mtb people I see on footpaths where they are not supposed to be (many on UA-cam), what's good for the goose and all that... if they want on our trails, then they've got to be a bit more lenient about us walkers on their trails in return... and they need to give way when they are on our trails or it ends up with the idiots running fishing wire between trees etc. after nearly being taken out by a bike on a footpath. I am sure we can all get on if we learn to respect each other's terrain and right of way.

Good.
Quite right too.
Great, as usual. I hope you'll visit Chanonry Point on the way south.. give us a view of the lighthouse and dolphins.
Scotzine Are they still killing as many Red Kites up there on the Black Isle?
The population remains suspiciously static.
Oh I headed west from there ;-)
what a story. . reminds me of a movie I just saw "grapes of wrath" same topic, other continent..
I know what you mean!

I admire your optimism.
Ask the locals what they think mate 🤣
I did....and indeed do when I generally chit-chat with folk when I'm in Sutherland. You'll find locals on both sides of the argument.
