Good to see you back Ben. Love your videos. Would be great to see you up my neck of the woods in the Aberfeldy area, it’s beautiful but you know that anyway. Keep up the good work 🏴
While watching this, a huge avalanche has hit our house. That was the most memoriable thing I've had so far. Nobody outside would have survived it, so glad we were with you ;-)) Thank you and enjoy the winter! Slainte
@@BenvironmentBlog The house is fine, we got just some little damaches at the roof. The mess around the house was insane. Now when the snow begins to melt it gets even messier... 🙈😅
@@BenvironmentBlog well we live in a "red zone" so we have avalanches every few years. But since recording in early 1900 this was the biggest. Normaly they stop higher in the forests, but this time the avalanche has destroyed most of the forest and stopped just 15m from our house. We have an extra wall on the house to protect from avalanches, but this one I dont think the house could stop it. So that was a bit of luck for us. I can post you an image from above on facebook 😊
Lovely video of an amazing place, thanks for the up. It’s amazing what hidden gems you can find in your locale, I guess we have to be thankful to the pandemic for forcing us to explore closer to home. Great to have another video from you after a long absence, haste ye back.
Really enjoyed this video of hidden Kinross. I must confess the only part of Kinross I've visited are the Services on my way to Aviemore ! Thanks for showing me more of this beautiful area. Cheers mate.
Oh, not those awful services with the entrance so small that only a Robin Reliant can get in the car park? And with the most expensive petrol in Scotland?
ahw Ben nice exploration again. That snot is called 'sterrenschot' over here. People thought it was bits of shooting star - or witches snot. I understand it to be predatorial frog throw up.. something to do with their undigestable eggs.. could possibly be that otter. Very cool to see it's tracks! But oh wow what a gem you've found!
Nice vid. Theres a good chance the fish remains are from a Loch Leven trout. They use the South Queich for spawning around November, though im not sure how far upstream they can access. Looked a fair sized fish, horrible tasting and out of season for human consumption but an otter wont be too fussy.
Interesting video Ben. I don't think I'd fancy making my way through there; seems a dangerous place for rain running off hill after unexpected showers/flash floods, with water forcing its way through the gorge. (possibly).. seems you had best conditions to complete it unhindered.
Wow...ive done that walk...was bloody hard work goin through that glen! quality!
Good to see you back Ben
Martin.
Ta :) It's good to be back :)
Magic, i miss these videos
Loads more on the way...... ;-)
@@BenvironmentBlog cheers ben, appreciate them

Cheers Roddy! Here's hoping it's looking festive up there just now. Snow's melting here now.
@@BenvironmentBlog melting here too but we did have thunder snow in the wee small hours. Lightning was incredible ⚡

Gawd!! Is the house okay??

@@stefanfuchs2773 Well I'm glad to hear you're safe. Do you normally have avalanches right around your house?

One of the plants found in there is wilson's filmy fern at one of its most easterly outposts in Scotland. Nice vid!
Thanks v much for that :) I did read up beforehand but I don't have an ecologist's brain and I always forget this stuff ;-)
Too few of these videos this year , always informative Ben.
Cheers Alistair!
And to think this wee hidden gem was in touching distance from your house all along Ben :) Looks a great wee walk this. And @ 26:49 yep thats the one!
Makes you wonder what else is hiding within plain sight close by.
aye peter that is a good shot !!!
Some great shots there Ben, especially long shot looking back up the glen. Magic
Yeah it's a bonkers place. Someone described it to me as Kinross's Lairig Ghru ;-)
Great video once again, and a fantastic ending on the summit with the sunset!
It really was a beautiful day!

Cheers :) Yeah it was a bit of a surprise, and I've got another home patch adventure to upload too :)

@@BenvironmentBlog Yep that's the one. Travelling from Durham to Aviemore it was the furthest we could get before my girls needed a comfort break !
Didn’t even watch it yet but already thumb up 👍🏻
Love yours videos Ben
Ha ha! Thanks for the vote of confidence :)
forgotton glen (where bracken is King) lots of walkbacks and good workout !!😀👍
I quite like the idea of somewhere being off bounds for more than half the year. I certainly wouldn't bother going through there in summer!

Loads of snow falling on the higher hills. Unlockdown can't come soon enough!
Get this man a stipend from the Fife tourist board!!
Wouldn't that be nice :)

No I'm not either. I can't say I've ever walked the watercourses to look for obstacles :)

I reckon it's the only time of year I'd walk it, given the bracken and the risk of trampling some rare wildlife.
Will you ever do a video in the Lake District, Ben?
I would if I went....but I can't really see myself exploring south of the border any more. Never say never though ;-)
Looking back, weren't those "no more than 5 miles from your local authority boundary to commence your walk" rules a load of old nonsense!?

Just had to look that up. Thanks :)
