Yeah this song takes a minute to warm up, but it definitely gets there. It’s a slow build. Plus when you listen to the whole album, the place it takes is so perfect for the flow of the whole animal. Blood Sugar Sex Magic is one of the most well-constructed rock albums anybody ever recorded.
I wore out this CD back in the day. It;s not possible to wear out a CD, but I did. It's crazy how much they matured just over the six years between when they started and this album. I haven't listened to much of them since, but this one is classic.
I had to replace mine, I played it so much. Needless to say my family wasn't very pleased when I got it. 😂 I still blame my brother. I know he scratched it on purpose 😂
Spot on. I know a lot of folks hate the shift in sound they started with Californication, but I love it. I really can't name a bad album they've done. Bad songs? Bad writing? Absolutely, but never a bad album. (Hell, I only skip one song when listening to Stadium Arcadium, which is insane for a double album)
When “Break’N the Girl” goes into the breakdown for Flea to solo dance, I start dancing in the same erratic way as Flea when “Break’N the Girl” is heard being played or I’m watching, not caring where I’m at or with.... When I hear “What’s Your Alias?” I always do the Silkk scream.... When I hear “Southernplayalistic” I always do the 2s hand gesture when Dre gets out the car.... “Break’N the Girl” is on the reaction mention above....
“could’ve lied” is my favorite. It’s hard to explain but I really feel that song for some reason. This is my favorite album too. I’m sure some might disagree but for me this was it. It makes me nostalgic.
Or you could react to the better, legit punk band version of Social Distortion from before 1985, before their stupid dorkabilly vibes. Songs like "Another State of Mind", "Moral Threat", "1945", Lude Boy", "Mainliner"or "Mommy's Little Monster" are all some of their best early 80's classics. Just my opinion, but later Social D and Rockabilly truly sucks.
@@transmit13 I love how folks reply and downgrade what you say because NOBODY can have a different opinion or like ALL of it. "If it is NOT EXACTLY what I like you are wrong!" Comon man grab some tack.
@@theidajawho Rockabilly sucks, I feel sorry for the fact you enjoy it, greaser. I have a strong opinion on music, like yourself, and I definitely posted the proper Social Distortion tracks to react to first. Are you legitimately against the songs that made this band?
@@transmit13 not saying those are not good tracks, resorting to name calling and rudeness is not called for. Great have your opinion, Enjoy it. I hope you find some joy somewhere.
@@theidajawho The fact is. The songs you have mentioned have been reacted to by a ton of people. It's time to dive more into their old school punk era. And I won't apologize for my hatred of Rockabilly.
The bridge is all of them playing percussion on random items from a scrap yard.. that’s why it sounds like a train coming
There is a really dope documentary about the making of this album called “Funky Monks”
I still have my "Funky Monks" VHS tape!
That album is on my list of essential listening.
This song is big time vibes. Been listening to it for thirty years and it never goes away.

PROBABLY the best song they've ever made, from a musician standpoint. 💯
Agreed.

Yo, Teez, so glad you did this song, their best, and the video is fucking trippy as all fucking hell.
This band is rare in that almost every album they make is exceptional

Cool. SOCIAL DISTORTION! Social D! "Ball and Chain" or "Story of My Life" , a slightly different vibe you should dig. They call it Rockabilly.
