We're probably not comparing humans and AI equally.
Human: can do 1-3 things really well and other things okay.
AGI: needs to perform everything all humans can do at the best levels.
So getting a general intelligence AI similar to a human of IQ 85 would technically be AGI.
The problem with those who claim we aren't close to AGI, is that they will never stop moving the bar on what counts as AGI. Because they simply don't want it to exist, and will always define things in a way that ensures it doesn't exist. Meanwhile, AIs will come to exist, that don't meet those definitions, and yet ethically will still deserve rights.

Is a sharper knife more dangerous ? yes ! But on who will it depend ? On the KNIFE or the Person using it. If humans would stop trying to use everything to hurt each other for their insecuritys and work on them...theres a extremely high chance of no issues.

AGl has be better than humans who are too emotional.
What, emotions like, love, compassion, understanding? Many of our “emotions” keep us from doing bad things. AGI, will be missing all of that. It will make its decisions solely on reasoning. It’s pretty easy to reason that humans are the problem. Think about it!

You're just speaking out of emotions not a rational minded person. Animals are animals there is no good and there is no evil we have our own internal moral compass that we only apply to ourselves. If we did anything the animals kingdom does you would think we were the most are Barrett creatures alive the one thing that makes us be able to survive Beyond possible Extinction events and be able to thrive like no other being ever has land on other planetary bodies it's because we are able to go beyond or Primal instincts and the thing that you consider humans bad about is the things that is naturally Primal that are inside of animals but you assume that they are the evil things only in humans even though we're the only ones to ever surpass our primal rage to any degree and create a society that encourages that and the only species that actually cares about other animals life and death instead of only what we need. You can argue that oh we create the problems but you know what there are certain things we are going to hold on to that are just part of our Evolution and at the same time we recognize that and we know when the problems occur and we try to overcome that. You can be one of those people that hates yourself and Humanity but in the end you don't really make sense and you're just depressed and can't stand certain people or the way of life maybe the humans in certain countries have decided to move forward. Most people that I know who say that as well admire completely different culture just mostly hate Humanity because of a specific country. We do things that are considered atrocious but who defined the things as atrocious because we are the ones who have the moral compass to understand that these things are "wrong" in the first place and if you think that humans are terrible then why don't you act like it instead of just talking. Or is it really you the ones who talked bad about Humanity that are the only ones who really are not good because they don't even fight for what they believe in and said just make snide comments that make people think negative thoughts about themselves what has what you said done anything for anyone. And what will it do in the end like say for artificial intelligence in this case?
