  • This time I´m restoring a rusty Cartier Roadster from 2003. It´s powered by the Cartier 3110 automatic movement.
    The condition some people leave their luxury items in is shocking me sometimes. But see for yourself ;)
    I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)

      I always wondered about 2 things. I always loved the look of the cabochon or spinel crown. Can I replace it on the roadster.
      Also, can the 19 mm stainless steel lugs fit on the 20mm stainless steel bracelet

    As I told you many times, you’re a Maestro indeed…why should I have to pay thousand of $ to get an Eta 2892 rebranding Cartier, someone could explane me…just only to show the brand too…incredible…

    • @Delta11C1
      @Delta11C1 Рік тому

      I believe part of issue is that Cartier uses the oscillating weight as a major component in determining the authenticity of a watch when it comes in for service. I think it is upwards of $1000 to replace one because it can be used to make a very authentic looking fake. I work the Cartier line in the Richemont Technical Center and there are very strict controls on handling and accounting for any parts that have been replaced, but especially oscillating weights and precious metal components.

    • @fulvioplatania3091
      @fulvioplatania3091 Рік тому +2

      @@Delta11C1 ok, but it I isn't the matter...I cannot understand WHY I have to spend so much money to get an eta 2892 also if is branded as a Cartier...could you buy a Lambo with a 500 fiat engine?
      I think (hope...) nu

    • @Delta11C1
      @Delta11C1 Рік тому

      @@fulvioplatania3091 All parts must remain true to the reference...Cartier also has a Selitta version of the 2892... I have no idea why...sigh🙄... So for a hypothetical, if I replaced the blued automatic bridge screws on the ETA with the non blued screws of the Selitta, then even though the screws are functionally the same, and perform the same, are literally identical aside from color, they are not reference correct and by doing so I have literally created a reference that doesn't exist. Same goes for the oscillating weight but you then have the added extremely valuable function of the branding combined with the oscillating weight serving as a major component of authentication. So if you take just any other ETA 2892, not Cartier branded, and throw it in a Cartier watch and send it to us for service or repair, we will send it back and politely inform you that your watch is not authentic and we can't work on it. The function that the branding on the weight performs is the reason the cost is so high. Because at this point the oscillating weight has been given more functions. It is a functional part of the automatic system and a brand advertisement as most oscillating weights are but now it is also serves the additional valuable function of identifying the watch as genuine.
