With the Brubeck - title "In Your Own Sweet Way" the WDR Big Band features Raphael Klemm on trombone, Ruud Breuls on trumpet and Johan Hörlén on alto saxophone. Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea (arrangement) leads the WDR Big Band. Produced in January 2020 at WDR Studio 4 / Cologne.
US jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, born on December 6, 1920, conquered an entirely new audience for jazz with his music: the intellectual middle class. Probably the best-known line-up of his Dave Brubeck Quartet was Paul Desmond on saxophone, Joe Morello on drums and Eugene Wright on bass.

An arrangement with well-balanced sections and enough space in-between that the whole gains so much depth and still remains light, lucid and relaxed. The soloists show restraint, their mellow side and, not quite unexpectedly, their own sweet ways. Charming arrangement, very transparently recorded, no instrument neglected. An instant classic.
