Excellent reading. I've always loved the sound of Old English. You can hear the clear influences of German and Danish, but there are some distinctly Celtic sounds in there as well.
I LOVE this poem. It equals the one about the woman who walks shoreline missing her lover. I would have to do some seeking to find the title. Thanks for the post of this. Nice reading! And good gods, I have lost so much of my Old English! That's just embarrassing.
Nice rendering, but I think it would be better if the English closed caption translations lined up properly with the Old English they're supposed to be translating.
@@jrb4935 Why did you put my name in quotations? I was born in England and lived there for many years and many of my friends live there still so I am very familiar with what is going on. The notion of the English being "exiled in their own country" is just laughable. Particularly funny that you idolise a people and culture that did in fact exile the native population of Britain, coming over on boats, changing the language, culture and laws forever. All of the things I imagine you accuse foreigners of doing now, though they clearly and demonstrably are not.
My ears pricking up when I heard the very clear influence of Theoden's speech in LOTR "where is the horse and the rider..."
It’s actually Aragorn’s speech in the books
This poem is the manliest thing I've heard in quite some time.
Well done man. It's impossible to find a good version of this on YT. Glad you did this
I never heard a better rendition of this brilliant poem than by a Mercian.
whats your favorite westside gunn song
It's my favorite Anglo-Saxon poem as well.

Awesome, sounds great in Old English
Thank you ‼️
There's elements in this that make me think of the Havamal.
I was thinking the same thing.
Such a beautiful teaching from ancient times that applies in the present as we suffer planetary apathy.

Let me know of you find it !!
Was it Deor?
@@Tom-sd9jb I don't recall an author--one of the many Anon. works.
I think I've found it for you:
Wulf ond Eadwacer.
A lady called Hanna Marti sings a lovely version of it on her UA-cam channel.
That was Beautiful , thank you
Heee willl ride, across land and time
To finddd a wayy through this endless night
Ensiferum shall be blasted throughout the office today
Your work are so great, i really love The Old English.
Very based.

Cool top, man.
Wyrd bið ful aræd!
>cough< Destiny is all!
Amazing content. Hoping for part two of Anglo Saxon Paganism.
The wanderer is Christian but it keeps the old Germanic warrior culture
This is most certainly seems like a Christian poem?
As somewhat of a folk Christian (if such a thing exists), I love this!
oh you beast!!!!
The end seems to be cut off for me...
Wasn't expecting someone like him 💀😂 a gangster 😂
Just cause ya boi has tattoos, doesn't mean he can't enjoy some good poetry. ❤️
Ðancie þe!❤
Am I seeing things or did you put some size on? You look a little wider and thicker brah! 💪
Thank you Alexander Wagner, I've been hitting the gym like King Offa hit the Welsh. 💪
These poems are poignant because the English are now like exiles in their own country.
I don’t think anyone wants to hear your far right bollocks on here mate. The Anglo Saxons were a people who themselves had their roots abroad
Just like the USA.
Yawn
@@Joachimhuby Do you live in England, 'Joachim'?

I thought this would be read in O.E. so I’m kinda truly disappointed
@gomongio It is. Skip to 9 minutes in for the Old English reading.
