- In this video we'll go over removing the carburetor and fuel pump from a late 1970's Mercury 9.8HP Model 110 Outboard Engine. We'll go over the carb and fuel pump diaphragm rebuild procedure and reinstallation procedure. Enjoy.
This video saved me $150 thanks
Glad to hear! They are money pits sometimes.
Hi can u give me a website link to where I can buy a calbarator like that? I want the exact calbarator u have there
I’m not sure what calibrator you’re referring to. Can you send me the time in the video that I use it?
A replacement carb, for this engine
@@ED86731i’m not sure where to buy the whole carburetor unit as a replacement. I only rebuild it using a rebuild kit in this video. Try some intensive online research.
Do you know how to adjust the float level in the Mercury 110 9.8 carburetor?
You probably do so by bending the little tab on the float arm that makes contact with the needle.
@@MtrMnc02 Yes, but how much? I read that the distance from the carburetor body to the top edge of the float should be 1/4 inch. Is that correct?
Sounds like you’ve got your starting point.
Test it after adjustment by hooking up a fuel source to the fuel inlet (fuel tank above the carb for gravity to do its magic). The carburetor float chamber should fill with gasoline and the float rise and then move the needle valve into the closed position, stopping fuel flow throughout the rest of the carburetor circuits. If your carb drips fuel you need to try adjusting again or u could have something like a leaky float bowl gasket, etc.
@@MtrMnc02 Thanks!
just picked one up. won't idle unless chokes 1/3 on. think i'll pull carb, gas was aweful in tank that came with it, stunk and had water in bottom, was not clear was milky. have had it running quite awhile on the start setting and choke slightly on... when i push it in, it idles way up, then dies... weird.
Hmm, strange. Have you rebuilt the carb yet?
I got the same carb and can’t find an appropriate carb rebuild kit. Could you drop a link to the one you used😂
I'm gonna reply to this because I'm in the same predicament 😂
@@icrailfanner hey me too! jst got my engine running tonight but every 5 mins i got to pump the primer and fill the bowl! if you find it please share!!!
Same thing here, I think on e-bay kit Walbro wmb1 wmb2 wmb3 wmb4 carb kit. only use the tan colored reed gasket, The carb I got off a parts motor had both reed gaskets in it like in the video, and ran properly after I took the black one out. My original carb had a broken plastic diffuser with two wings that need to fit in between the two butterflies, it needs to be in the right position before you put the high speed jet tube back in place. Hope this helps.
