Got recommended this on my feed 9years after it came out but it is still gold :D I was entertained the whole time, and I feel the same, no one around to talk about anime🤷
It wasn't until high school that I found another anime fan that I could actually talk to, and we both loved to play piano so that was a plus. One day we were tired of people hiding their fondness for anime, so we learned how to play anime songs like attack on titan on the piano. Later that year at the talent show, we played a piano battle featuring all the anime songs. From there on out we had people who we didn't know liked anime or manga, and actually talk about shows like AOT and SAO, etc.
The story you were talking about with posidum is probably Odysseus.
yeah, people are either timid or excited. I met so many customers with anime shirts and I'm like nice shirt! and they just smile and say thanks and that's fine, but sometimes, some customers would go OFF and we talk about different arcs and stuff and i'm like bro this is cool but i gotta work!! haha

I suppose I really only get it when I go to a school or college and people have knowledge, but its never people I don't know. But when I go to places like book stores like waterstones I get very excited whn someone is at the manga section. Most of the time when that happens I have had some great conversations with these strangers

I met a guy at a Walgreens Pharmacy once wearing a Taiyou Convention tee shirt, and he didn't seem to know much but he was talking about but we started talking about Netflix and shows like Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works and the like and that was cool.

There's like 7 people in my year at school who watch anime, and read manga.
We all pretty much know alot about Attack on Titan and Bleach, since they're the most common two ones. We read manga on the iPads we have at school and it's cool. :D

Most Anime fans are ostracized and talked about so they close off. It wasnt until HS until I found people to talk about anime with, and that was a small circle. Finding people to talk about certain anime/manga is hard to do, like hell even my friends think I take things a bit far with my fanon work and it wasnt until I joined Naruto and Bleach fanon wiki before I found like minded people. So ya Im sorry you got shafted Tekking, i totally sympathize with you.
in my school there are a good amount of people who watch anime but they've all only ever watched the standard or whatever is new or of the like and know nothing about masterpieces such as clannad, code geass or gurren lagann and i cringe every time there are only 5 people that i know of that are hardcore anime fans in my school that watch anything and go out of there way to look for other anime that can be less known so in a way i kind of got the shaft as well fell for you man

I'll get the occasional person trying to clean up the candles they drop or something like that, but other than that it's just "Oops, sorry" and they walk away.

I find that there's loads of people in my area that like anime or manga. Like not even my friends, just random people. (When I say loads I don't mean hundreds or thousands, maybe two dozen; but considering, that's still pretty good.) Maybe I'm just lucky. When I started university I found a good couple of people on my course that liked it, but weren't out there blatant. It was more like I overheard conversations in my lab, and this one guy had a soul eater necklace. They're out there, you just need to eavesdrop ;D haha
I normally! do the only time I didn't was when I was reader Vampire Knight well I was working sealing fruit for my grandparents. And a 40 year old man came up and said that an awesome manga I served mostly didn't say anything because I found it weird 40 year old man with rock band T-Shirt liking Vampire Knight a shojo girly manga, not that he didn't like manga. But most of the time I have the other problem like you where I try to talk about it with other people who like anime and they brush you off.....it's like their stigma about anime being nerd and weird if you like it. Well I hope this story and that fact I identify with you will make you feel better or entertain you :)

yeah where i'm from we have an anime club that meats once a month and we watch a different anime every month we normally only watch 3 or 4 episodes but it's fun we don't get a big turn all the time but still nice to get together and watch anime and eat snacks on a thursday night

I would probably do the same thing as those people if someone saw me wearing a Bleach shirt and started talking about other anime (Bleach fans are harder to find than I would've thought). The only anime I have finished are Bleach, Death Note, and Steins Gate, anime in general isn't my thing so getting approached about it would be really weird.. Unless it was about Bleach specifically then I'd probably talk about it for hours.

I worked at a Dollar General for about half a year. I'm not sure anyone ever came in who had on anything to do with anime. About two people came in on St. Patrick's Day though and recognized/loved my Gir hat. That was cool at least. XD

Dude If while going through the town i casually met sb that was also into manga/anime & they chatted me up I'd be like that DBZ kid you mentioned start asking for things he read list stuff I got through & just talk about whatever thing we both enjoy... I'm from Poland I've been watching anime pretty much my whole life with changes from hardcore to casual fan haven't met an actual anime fan until my 20's & we met on the net weeks later went to a con but still thats a 2h drive away.. the ONLY STORE around with manga has less than 10 titles on sale & I get a freaking mental boner when I see ppl reading or checking manga there. Its at the far end & surrounded with magazines so ppl being there nothing new but manga readers.. yeah rare species...but I'll get so gitty I feel ike a creep T_T
