Our Story:
We are six years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our
journey!

This should be the last piece of pasture we plant in Piney Grove! Check out this video for how we planted our pastures after we had our land cleared: ua-cam.com/video/RYPZIMAbAbE/v-deo.html And when we planted it the 2nd time: ua-cam.com/video/NEwHDaavlUY/v-deo.html

Pats Quick Hitch works wonders. It’s only on the lower arms, and allows you to use the top link on any three point implement. 4:52
We've thought about them but never made the commitment. Until then, we'll use a pry bar like in this video. ua-cam.com/video/ij8X5eTBtpk/v-deo.html
I absolutely hated changing implements. I bought a quick hitch and it was even worse. Did some more research and came across pats quick hitch and it’s been a game changer. It takes me less then 45 seconds to change an implement. Just a thought if you want to have less aggravation. Mike
I had a quick hitch, but as you can see, my implements are OLD (I like them that way...kinda) so a QH wouldn't fit anything....not even my new tiller. I've thought about Pats, but TBH, that 6' steel pry bar from TSC does the trick. I should also put on telescoping sway bars, but I always talk myself out of it! Thanks for watching. How's your ICPs doing? Brad&Deb
@@PineyGroveHomestead I Hear ya! They sure don’t make the implements like the old stuff. They are doing ok. Had about an 80% germ on them. Just wish the rain here would start dropping a little more often. I planted some sorghum this AM, it’s good stuff for garden soil.
Brad pull the trigger on the Pat's easy change. You wont regret it. I have all different brands old and new equipment so a quick hitch wouldn't work for me either it's why I opted for the Pat's system. I like mine. 👍
I've thought about it but with the hydrostatic drive, I can push the pedal with my hand and have the tractor move an inch or two forward or back! Maybe one day I'll have several tractors and I'll never change an implement again! Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb
Brad, check out Pat’s quick hitch for hooking up your three-point equipment. It sure has helped me out with my Kabota 2901.
I'm familiar with Pat's, but I'm kinda stubborn....and cheap! Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb
@@PineyGroveHomestead I’m cheap also, that’s why I went with Pat’s
I always suspected the “buck on the bag” seeds were overpriced for what you get. The whole disc and plant method looks pretty effective. Nice work!
Yessir, Lucas....it's a marketing thing! Hoping that's the last time we have to plant that strip...it's been the hardest part of the pasture to establish.
Like a lot all yours videos, you have a very nice place in Florida, my favorite state, warms regards from sunny Mexico, Luis.
Thanks for watching Luis!
I like the way it turned out Brad. You are right about greasing the ground engaging implements. For me, on a usual all day of work on the field, I grade at the start of the day, mid morning, noon, mid afternoon , late afternoon or early evening and then one last time just before it got dark. I usually ran til around 11 pm or midnight and then start again about 7 am after milking the cows and doing all of the daily chores. Looking back... dang! Those were some long days
Those friction bearings LOVE the grease. I wore through one one day because I didn't grease regularly and it put me in a tight spot trying to get my food plots in. Live and learn. Thanks for watching. B&D
King Cutter used to have grease zerts on it's smaller disc harrows. I see the newer discs have sealed bearings.Big improvement.
Try whitetailfoodplotsusa seed blends they are all seed, no fillers or fescue.
We buy local
How well did the grass seed come up?
We bale hay there now. You can see in this video: ua-cam.com/video/HDmVxpDuHAM/v-deo.html
Thanks! Good Job!
Thank you. Here's another similar video: ua-cam.com/video/fvXV4LN9rfk/v-deo.html
Hey Brad, nice job as usual, you guys do good work! Good job on connecting your front loader I like how your bucket stays look strong. The BX has flimsy ones. Looks very hot there... 🔥
Hey Ross. That dirt is uneven so we edited out the "real time" it took to line up the loader! I think that was shot in May....it hasn't gotten cooler!. Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb
It’s takes that much grease I think I would buy a battery operated grease gun
Agree! We have one.....new in the box we bought 2 years ago!
Raising your elevations is very good. As flat as your lot is you could be in trouble if yor buildings were too low. You mentioned the$2500 cost to set up the foundations and backfill. Well worth the cost and effort. I have spent large amounts of money trying to redo bad planning and design for customers. Keep up the good work. You are very good with the front loader. Better than I was, but I used a rear blade a lot. Thanks for video and entertainment.
Thanks for the kind words. This was an older video.....hopefully we are better at it now! Here's some more tractor work: ua-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
You need to get you a 3 point PTO driven seeder/fertilizer
We have PTO and ATV spreaders. This was a small area.
@@PineyGroveHomestead I’m too lazy to walk all that😂 my equipment is sitting their.. might as well use it!
Any word on here about the disc not centering on tractor? Have a Kubota 4330. Thanks!👍🏻
You should be able to adjust the side turnbuckles of the lower lift arms of the 3pt hitch to make the back of the disc go left or right. Otherwise, maybe the disc hitch is welded on off-center? Here's another disc video: ua-cam.com/video/fvXV4LN9rfk/v-deo.html
@@PineyGroveHomestead thank you!!
Where did you buy the disc harrow
