Where is the consideration for the lives of the people in the Donbass and Crimea. Seems to me they have been relegated to sub-human status and their freedom, their fear of Ukrainian retaliation, of genocide is going to be regarded as "collateral damage". As long as the west can still live under the illusion our society is pre-eminent and should direct global affairs to meet our prosperity.

...and we are back to: what was there first: the chicken or the egg? I die my part believe that the Donbass was infiltrated by Russia and that most people there would have been happy to remain Ukrainian. I remember the referendum vote for independence had something like 83% pro votes. And that was not a referendum carried out with guns . So yes. We should for sure feel sorry for the people there. But not because they are victimised Russians.

I am thankful to Ben Hodges that he is again stating very clearly that a Germany that is not throwing its full wheight behind Ukraine's victory, despite 75% support from the German population, will be a danger to the relationship between the US and Germany, no matter who will be in power in the US (meaning the American taxpayer will judge Germany).

    • @dirkgonthier101
      @dirkgonthier101 Рік тому

Well, if the the US-taxpayer so decides, let the Americans LEAVE OUR continent. We DON'T need the US and many don't want the US anymore since Trump, because it has proven to be an unreliable partner (Tusk: 'With friends like that, who needs enemies?') that tried (and failed) to wage economic war against the EU (read: 'The Battle of Europe' of the university professor Rob De Wijck about it). Despite all propaganda we hear from the US, combined the EU has the second largest army in the world and the second largest defence budget of the world. It will be an adjustement, BUT WE'LL MANAGE!!! And it will become a great pretext to kick out the US tech-companies like Google, Twitter, Facebook, UA-cam and lots more.

@@dirkgonthier101 You seem to be wishing for a Sino-Russian occupation of Europe. Good luck with that. Besides, 75% of Germans are supporting Ukraine and as such supporting NATO and US. So, there seems to be no incentive to "kick out" the US from Europe, rather than the opposite. What Germany and Europe have to do is to contribute more to our joint defence of common Western values. Trump was kicking ass with Germany cause we, or better our politicians, don't want to contribute enough.

@@bertiballermann5812 LMAO!!! Yeah, that's what I'm waiting for! LMAO!!! Yeah, Russia is THE world-power! They're proving that already for seven months in Ukraine! The whole country is occupied! They cut through the defences of Ukraine like a knife through butter! God, please, help us, poor Europeans! We have a population of 441 million against a population of not yet 140 million! Russia, THE greast world-power, isn't even capable to have a GDP that's bigger than Italy's GDP! But, still, we're nothing without the USA! Absolutely incapable of doing a damned thing!
And what a threat! 'What if the American tax-payer will judge Germany'?! Oh, we can not think about such horror! That's just too much! For our weak and feable minds to contemplate!
You may underestimate the resources of the EU all you want to, but I don't. Officially it has the second largest army in the world. Officially it has the second largest defence budget of the world. It's not because Germany was so stupid to forget to invest in its army, that this is applicapable for everyone in the EU. And Germany is on its way back. It has the intention to become the biggest army in Europe, even bigger than Russia's.
You may exagerate the role of the Americans as much as you like to, but I don't. I'm not advocating that the USA HAS to leave our continent. But I'm not, like you, afraid should it occur. The situation of the American democracy is very precarious at the moment. The Republicans are about to break the majority of the Democrats in the house and the senate the coming elections. Then we have a fascist party in power in the USA. Preparing the way for the fascist Trump. Who staged a coup, already. And, just like Hitler, he'll make more of it in his second coup. Who declared already that he would withdraw the USA out of NATO, if comes back in power. Who fought an economic war against the EU and who lost that war. That you don't know this, doesn't mean that it didn't happen.
I think the EU needs to follow its own strenghts. In stead of counting always on others and being in a relationship of dependency to these others. That doesn't mean that we have to kick out the Americans. But, if Trump is re-elected in 2024, chances are high that the USA will leave Europe. So, the EU needs to hold this political possibility into account. It does, by the way. The military headquarters of the EU in NATO can be lifted out of NATO (or survive on its own, should the USA terminate NATO) without difficulty.

Well, the very last paragraph describes it best, just that the US might as well leave Europe with a Democrat as a president, which is what I hinted at in the first place. So we, as in Germany and EU, have to be a better ally and invest more into our common security. And as I said - I am not fearing a Russian occupation, but a Sino-Russian one. That is a scenario where the Chinese are so much up the Russians' rear that they start moving their lips.

I think there's like 200,000 wounded maybe that's a little much but you don't talk about that. Ukraine's own statistics shows they estimate for every Russian dead soldier they're depending on which operation there is 5 to 10 Ukrainian soldiers dead these are Ukrainian officials saying this! The UN estimates there have been less than 15,000 killed Ukrainian soldiers. The Russians estimate about 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed, although Russian estimates are likely to be wildly *ahem!* optimistic.
As to Russian soldier deaths, the numbers are generally reversed with the Russian government estimating 6000 killed and US and Ukrainians estimating 60K to 80K killed. These numbers may not include the Russians killed as their forces have been routed in the north and south.
I suspect the correct numbers for Ukrainian and Russian soldier losses are somewhere in the middle, indicating that the deaths on both sides are about the same.
The difference is morale. The Ukrainians are fighting for their homes and families and the Russians are conscripts that the Ukrainians have made it clear are now welcomed as liberators.

People are underestimating the price Europe is paying for the war in Ukraine. In many parts of Europe, the corner stone of the economy was cheap input from Russia. That is gone and won't come back. Scholtz is not focusing on the war in Ukraine because he is facing the end of the world in Germany. That will spread to other parts of the continent as well. Europe will have to reinvent itself in order to survive. That process will be enormously painful, and we do not know what sort of Europe will emerge at the other end of the maelstrom. The US are relatively insulated from the economic destruction and might not appreciate the burden Europe has to bear for the sake of the western alliance. That is the price Europe pays för this war. Besides, I would not be so sure Ukraine is winning. Russia might have found the key to defeat Ukraine. • @karabenomar
      @karabenomar Рік тому +2

The Kerch bridge is *the* most strategic target in in this war. Not only can it be used to move troops and supplies, it is doing exactly that every day. It is a valid military target.
Three civilians were killed in the attack. That's collateral damage. It's regrettable that happened but it was not the aim of this operation to kill civilians. You might say that doesn't make any difference to these three people. It should make a difference to us though. Russia flattened Mariupol with artillery, causing God knows how many thousands of civilian dead. Ukraine (presumably) blew up a bridge and killed three people. That isn't even close to being the same, although Russian propaganda has been working very hard to push the "both sides" argument.
Lastly, is a suicide attack automatically a terrorist attack? I'd say no. The Japanese Kamikaze attacks in WW2 were military attacks, carried out by military pilots against military vessels. The definition of terrorism is not clear and you correctly point out that to most people "Terrorism is what others do, we fight for freedom".
In war, you will get your hands dirty and there will be civilian casualties. I'm not trying to be cynical, it's the way these things go. It is very much unfair to expect Ukraine to fight back in a way that causes no damage to any civilians and their property because that is impossible. The deeper root of these tragedies doesn't lie with a specific attack, it's Putin's decision to start this war.
One last remark: I could have gone full Russian in this reply, which would have looked like this: "These are baseless claims by Ukraine haters to make Ukraine look bad. Where is your proof? The Ukrainians used a genetically modified, NATO-trained nuclear Nazi poodle to blow up that bridge!" (not providing any proof of that myself).
I'd say Ukraine probably was responsible, but I'm not sure. As to the killing of Dugin's daughter, I honestly don't know. Car bombs, accidental hangings, mysterious falls from high windows and Polonium-laced underpants are a thing in Russia to get rid of people.

    TITLE: "THE RIVER RUNS DRY"...
(Explanation of Russia-Ukraine War = Replace characters with actual at bottom of story.)
The history of the story started way back in the 18th Century when bloody wars were fought over the lands of the Earth, a time in history that many in the 20th Century had never studied nor knew the background of. By the 19th Century the wars were settled, & there was a Peace Treaty written by the Mother Land giving a small Realm of 25 properties which housed 25 puppy dogs to an Occupier of the Realm. In the 19th Century Peace Treaty, 5 of the Territorial Properties housing 5 of the Mother's puppy dogs were adopted by the Occupier in good faith of the Peace Treaty as so long as the Occupier remained neutral, bound by the Terms of the Peace Treaty. The Mother even supplied endless amounts of running water to all of the Realm. Then in the late 19th Century, the heads of the Realm decided it wanted to be Independant of the Mother. Not thinking anything of it, the Mother did not put up a case in front of the High Courts reminding the courts of the Peace Treaty terms, that Independance would break the Peace Treaty, voiding out the terms. Later into history in the 20th Century, the heads of the Independant Realm began to become abusive & greedily corrupt, treating most of the puppies poorly, especially the 5 puppies that belonged to the Mother. The heads placed Dams limiting how much water the properties would receive. One of the puppies complained to the Mother that it was being horribly abused, hardly receiving any water even, and wanted to come back into the care of the Mother. Of course, any Mother that loves its child will do everything it can to help it & brought the puppy back into the original family in the year 2014. The heads of the Realm were outraged, and completely blocked the Dam that the water flowed to the puppy. Then turned off all utilities to the property. The Mother did everything she could to provide for the puppy for eight years, travelled far to bring the puppy water & supplies. She didn't want water to be cut off from the other four puppies either, so she didn't immediately take control of the properties & puppies as she was having a very difficult time to provide for the one puppy already. Meanwhile, the heads of the Realm were greedily indulging with the vast supply of water flowing from the Mother Land provided to them for free, growing mass amounts of agriculture, bragging about how the Realm feeds the World. In 2019, the heads (a pack of ferocious over-sized wolves) brought into power an adorable show dog that was very popular to act on its behalf. 8 years had past of the Mother struggling to provide & as it got to the point that... "The River Runs Dry," that the puppy would DIE of thirst, the Mother had no other choice but to defend her puppy that would die otherwise. That water belonged to her! She was very generous with the water that she provided to the Realm. Yet, she was facing a drought, unable to provide anymore water nor to grow any agriculture, and did what any mother who loves its child would do. Come the year 2022, she blew up the Dam that blocked HER water from her puppy. She needed to take back the 5 Territorial Properties that housed her 5 puppies & make sure her water could be supplied to her puppies. She launched a full force attack against the abusive show dog & his pack of ferocious wolves. She needed to make sure she could protect her 5 Territorial Properties & 5 puppies in order to provide water & supplies for them. Meanwhile, the attack damaged many of the 25 properties & killed some of the puppies in the Realm. Lots of the other puppies ran out of the Realm into other Realms beyond the borders. The other Realms could not believe what was happening, that these poor cute puppies had to escape a war zone. Then the adorable show dog presented to all of Earth that its properties were being destroyed & how terribly its puppies were being treated. The abuser became the abused claiming the attack was unprovoked, that the Mother was the abuser. While babysitting the other puppies, the other Realms saw the damage that was being done to the properties of the puppies, & decided to provide humanitarian support & war supplies to defend that Realm of the abuser & his pack of wolves, not knowing the true circumstances of the situation, ignorant to what the Mother & her puppies had to endure at the hands of the show dog & his wolves. Now that the abuser has acquired all this war equipment & even convinced many of the other realms to join in the fight against the Mother, the show dog presents his further abuse & blows up the bridge that provided a means to bring much needed water & supplies to the first Territory that came back into the hands of the Mother Land. In defense of the puppy, the Mother launched another full force attack onto the Realm. The other Realms that has been providing help to the abuser again only saw the damage to the properties of the other puppies. The abuser manipulated the other Realms into giving him what he needed to abuse the puppy more while the abuser laughed knowing it would starve the land of the puppy. Meanwhile, the Mother sends lots of her poor little puppies from the Mother Land to fight the battle up against a bunch of over-sized professionally trained assassin dogs that the abuser convinced to join up with him. Her other puppies pray for help, but no one hears, no one studies the background of the history of the land, no one paid any attention to why the war truly started, not even the other Realms that relied on the Mother Land for affordable amenities as Winter approaches. In a quest to understand why this tragedy was happening, I (the Wise Wizard) studied the entire history of the land and found out the reason, the truth. Plus, if the five puppies & their 5 Territorial properties fall back into the hands of the abusers, the show dog & his pack of wolves, the puppies will not only continue to be abused, but this time they will die. The Mother can not allow that! The abuser wants those 5 properties & will fight to the death to get them, unless the other Realms puts their foot down to intervene, to insist on a complete Cease Fire, that a Peace Settlement be presented to the High Courts, to be drawn in writing. The show dog is an abuser & has stated that he will not agree to a Peace Settlement unless he gets back the 5 puppies & properties. My goal is to present the Mother's Case to the High Courts, find a reasonable solution to end the War, & present a Peace Settlement. The Peace Settlement should be that the abuser (who eventually will be voted out by his own puppies who were already unhappy with his treatment) & his wolves keep the other 80% of the Realm (20 of his own puppies & properties) while the Mother gets to keep her own 5 Territories (20% of the Realm), since the original Peace Treaty was voided when the Realm broke it by becoming Independant, resisting neutrality, & that the water that flows from the Mother Land, generously shared to the Realm by the Mother must not be blocked to her 5 Territories, that the Realm does not damage her 5 Territories nor bridge (ever again), and that the Realm does not enter her 5 Territories, that no Dam shall block her water to the 5 Territories, and that if the Realm ever blocks her water flowing from the Mother Land through the Realm to her 5 Territories, she has the right to build Dams of her own blocking the entire flow of the Rivers from the Mother Land from entering the Realm, the right to reroute her water to reach her Territories & not share it with the Realm (if ever blocked again). Does the World want this war to continue or for peace? To all the other Realms: take heed as this will end the War! In this story, "The River Runs Dry," the mother is Russia, the five puppies of the mother are Crimea & the four Territories (Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, & Zaporizhzhia), the Realm is Ukraine, the show dog is Zelensky, the ferocious wolves are Zelensky's over-sized political force, the other 20 puppies are the people of Ukraine (many of which flocked into border countries for refuge from the war), the water ways are mentioned below, & I'm the magical Wise Wizard that is trying to explain the extent of the war in order to come up with solutions to draft a Peace Settlement. The other Realms are all countries that provided support to Ukrainian Refugees & war equipment to Ukraine without knowing that the war was provoked by Ukraine which was blocking water to millions of people in Crimea & the abusing of the 4 Territories, treated poorly.
As previously mentioned, the abuse of the 5 Territories are a matter for the High Courts, in the manner of a formal transfer by way of a Peace Settlement that must be documented in writing. If a puppy is abused almost to death by its owner who only adopted it and had broken the agreement of the adoption, the puppy should be given back to the birth Mother who has shown she went out of her way to care for the puppy. Her other four puppies should also be given back to her, along with the properties of the puppies, and her water supply should never be blocked again, as mentioned above.
Written in the Peace Settlement it must state that if Ukraine ever cuts off the water to Crimea ever again, Russia shall have the right to build Dams blocking water from the Dnieper (Dnipro) River + Pripyat River, Donets River, & Seym (Desna) River that flow from Russia & Belarus into Ukraine. In fact, if Ukraine refuses on this Peace Settlement, it is highly suggested that Russia & Belarus build the Dams to cut water off to Ukraine as a war sanction on Ukraine to give Ukraine a taste of what abuse Ukraine did to Crimea, the 4 other Territories, & Mother Russia. Millions of people in Crimea were going to die of thirst & lack of agriculture, because Ukraine blocked the Dam of water from Mother Russia's Dnieper (Dnipro) River that Russia provided water to all of Ukraine.

One must press onwards... with our (West's) breathtaking audacity in creatively reportraying the current situation... to depict the Russian missile attack on infrastructure.. as an attack on civilians !
Those who criticize our brutal and widespread Economic War against Russia as conducting atrocities on civilians, we must clarify that we have taken special care to ensure thar our Sanctions are limited to military targets. Have not done any general sanctions.
Similar is the case with our earlier sanctions against Iraq and Iran.. and other oil-rich countries like Venezuela... who possess the most important commodity of the modern world without which our people will freeze and our industry will come to a standstill..OIL !! Which is why we are obsessed about controlling it all over the globe, no matter who it belongs to...just get it.
But we must avoid talking of the hundreds of thousands of civilians who died in Iraq war and the millions of civilians who died in Vietnam with depleted uranium and Agent Orange. They were a very small collateral damage and should not be unfairly wheeled into our present discussion.

The west has no moral high ground to stand on. From WW2 onwards it has always been about killing civilians to break the will of opponents. Cities are bombed flat with high explosive, firebombed and in the case of Japan, nuked. We do not fight conventional wars, we conduct what is euphemistically referred to as "total war" or more recently "shock and awe".

    Important topic. Great discussion.
Dear Sir, Just as we used the "provoke & inflame" strategy in Russia through various means.... by relentlessly expanding NATO despite promises, interfering in Ukraine (Nuland-Pyatt viral video is only one example), suppressing Russian language, mistreatment of large Russian population in East Ukraine, conducting aggressive NATO exercises on Russian border & Black Sea coast in 2021..... all of these succeeded in infuriating Russia into a blowback attack culminating in Feb 22. This self-goal by Russia helped in turning it into a culprit despite being a victim. Now we have it where we want it ! Crosshairs.
*Similarly* , we must now provoke and inflame and hustle China into reckless actions which we can then use to slam-dunk China with our superior military. Pelosi's visit was a step in the right direction to intensify our China policy as well. And corner and crush China as well.
The incitement of Hong Kong students was poorly planned *as it was on Chinese soil* & in China's firm grip, and as expected China cooled it down immediately. Taiwan is out of their hold & control and it can be a successful tool to hustle and poke China for long.
This will finish of the dual challenges before the Western World Order.

To be honest: I get that you are trying to show the other side of the coin here. And I will not object if you say that the US is a meddling ...bastard, excuse my bluntness...( I would also like to say that this is meant in terms of their foreign strategy in this region and , I think has really been fired up since Bush. But I have met people fleeing from that eastern region in Ukraine, of course to the west. Their tales give a picture of invasion of Russia in 2014, and then constnt undermining and destruction of Ukrainian government set ups...People HAVE died because of Ukrainian fire...but Really you should take with care Russia's assertion that 15000 People died in Donbas since 2014 because of Ukrainian shelling. Also: Ukraine is trying to establish itself against an..well, quite overbearing Russian neighbour...one who really doesn't care about Ukraine, the little brother, and also one who doesn't really care about the Russian-speaking population in Donbas. Russian language was NOT actually banned from everyday life, rather it was initially the co-language for any official stuff you did in Ukraine. AS the two fronts hardened Ukraine decided to only have Ukrainian as the sole official language in Ukraine. I think it is a mistake but since Russia is literally taking its right to protect all Russian speakers around the world ( sometimes they clarify that to mean Russian citizens...but they use that with a lot of leeway!)...I mean: who wants to have too many Russian speakers in their country? It seems to give Russia carte Blanche to interfere. As they seem to have done in Georgia, as well as Belarus.

The option "Ukraine accept defeat" and "coup d'etat in Ukraine" is not a zero possibility in Ukraine too. If war goes too long enough, the western support may dry out, Europe needs to survive winter, election, etc.
