  • Hello everyone, welcome back to Military TV. In today’s episode we will take a look at Rheinmetall Lynx KF41, the infantry fighting vehicle. If you want to get further details regarding this tank, stay with us and watch this video till the end! . The Lynx is a German armoured fighting vehicle developed by Rheinmetall Land system that is a part of Rheinmetall's Vehicle Systems division. According to Rheinmetall, the Lynx family of tracked armoured vehicles is at the forefront of a new trend in Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), designed toward armoured vehicles with lower unit and through-life costs and reduced complexity. One of the key principles of the Lynx concept is the integration of proven sub-systems with a high technology readiness level to reduce development time, cost, and technical risk. The Lynx platform provides maximum freedom of action. It ensures exceptional mobility, collect, analyses and disseminates data, also offers windows of opportunity for responding to flexible and effective battlefield threats.

Welcome home to all the veterans here. To the cavalry vets, see you in Fiddlers Green. Agent Orange -- Sprayed and Betrayed !
And I thought we were bad-asses in Nam on the DMZ on our M-113 ACAV (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) in 3rd Squadron, 5th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Division Recon, 1st Cavalry Div., 101 Airborne Div., 9th Infantry Div., 5th Infantry Div. We had a 50 cal for the track commander and two M-60, 7.62 machine guns on each side. I rode one of the M-60s when rolling, dismounted at night and dug a neck deep hole for our NDP (Night Defensive Position) until I heard "Scouts out!' and humped the bush stepping over trip wires, wait-a-minute vines and looking for NVA tunnels,
Look at the new OMFV (Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle) by Reinmettal to replace most everything armored for cavalry and infantry by 2027. This is why yesterday DoD announced we are giving dozens of those soon to be obsolete Bradleys to the Ukrainian Army.
I like the "Optionally Manned" part. It can be operated remotely! In Nam, I could have sat in the rear at Dong Ha smoking and joking instead of being shot at by the NVA on the DMZ, Khe Sanh, the A Shau Valley, Con Thien, the Ho Chi Minh trail and other interesting shit holes where I forgot to collect postcards to send back The World.
Hope you liked my fun facts.

I worry the 30mm gun on Redback is limiting and I worry that having a Korean IFV, German AFV, American MBT and an Australian JLTV is just a bit jumbled in regards to parts compatibility, maintenance consistency and expertise.
To me it makes sense to buy as much from the same company or same country (or better yet from your own country).

Redback seemed to be a cost-effective, high quality vehicle which also offered some diplomatic benefits to Australian-korean relations.
The 35mm canon on the lynx probably has more bite to it, along with programmable ammunition rounds.
The 30mm canon on the redback is a proven calibre, can store more ammo on missions (marginally) and it's an easy ammunition calibre to source.
