  • In this video I take you on a trip to Dollar Tree Store to show you all the cheap medical supplies you can get for a dollar! From over the counter medications, to wound care and dressing supplies, there are a ton of medical supplies you can pick up at the dollar store and save a few dollars as opposed to buying them at a drug store or medical supply store. Often when patients are discharged from the emergency room, they need to pick up some medical supplies to continue their care at home and the video highlights what you can find at the dollar store to need your medical needs.
    I am a dual certified family and pediatric nurse practitioner. I worked many years as a registered nurse (RN) in the emergency room, then continued working in the emergency room after becoming a nurse practitioner (NP). I also did travel nursing as an ER nurse. This was such a helpful video. I've been trying to get my husband to understand this medication has the same active ingredients. Jt was helpful to hear you say that some stores just try to make an extra few dollars.

    As a CMA-MBA I have found a lot of basic medical supplies at the Dollar Tree. Bandages🩹🩹 and Gauze and Coban wrap helped when my late wife had 🩸 bleeding after Dialysis treatments. The pill cutters was a huge shavings vs other stores like CVS Walgreens that charge upto $5 for a pill cutter. It helped to keep basic OTC medications for general use.
    An excellent resource for basic first aid kit building. 😊

    I would have never thought Dollar Tree would have so much. The rare occasion that I go there it’s usually for a specific item so I’m in and out. Guess I’ll be browsing a little more next time 😆.
    Found it a tad funny that they had energy shots and pills stocked next to first aid kits 😂

      Yea the placement of some of the items makes you raise an eyebrow sometimes, that’s for sure lol.

      @@thesunnyedge Medical supplies here though are expensive. Sometimes my monthly pharmacy bill comes up to around $200 depending on what I get. And now its starting to have a shortage on certain pills and the very few pharmacies that has it...they have sent the price up almost 2-3 times more.

    Excellent video (as always). Interesting to see that the dollar stores you have over there seem to be better stocked than the pound stores we have over here. I used to spend a lot of time on a boat, fishing in the channel and it was always useful knocking up a cheap first aid kit to have with me. Certainly with the amount of hooks, knives or even spines that would end up in my hand 😂
    Thanks again and all the best.

    • @thesunnyedge
      @thesunnyedge  3 роки тому

      Omg I can only imagine! Fishing hooks can be so tricky to remove from skin! This past summer I was walking down by the river and a random lady also walking along got a fishhook in her arm from some nearby people fishing. I tried to help but was pretty useless without any tools or anesthetic so she ended up going to an ER.
      Anyways it’s always nice to hear from you! Hope you guys are doing well! 😊

      @@thesunnyedge Lol yes it is fun. Even more so if you’re on your own. Luckily I’ve never had a bad injury. Having a dogfish wrap itself around my wrist is about the worst. Their skin is like sand paper and in salt water it’s even more fun lol

    What are your thoughts on their vitamin supplements (are they safe & affective)? Thank you for sharing!

    • @thesunnyedge
      @thesunnyedge  3 роки тому +1

      For me personally, I wouldn’t use them from the dollar store since supplements aren’t regulated by the FDA like drugs are. The ingredients, strength, efficacy, etc. may be questionable and therefore I purchase supplements from a more reputable source.

    I'm a former EMT - Intermediate and military medic, and I can attest that the OTC meds (Aspirin, Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Diphenhydramine, "Excedrin", Hydrocortisone cream, Triple Antibiotic salve, generic "Theraflu", generic Afrin nose spray decongestant) are ALL good to go. I have used them. And I'm finicky ! Baby wipes, and rolled gauze are good. I have all of these in my Camping/"Bug-Out" bags. They didn't have any sterile wound dressings at my Dollar Tree. I disagree about the pill organizers - I'm a cardiac patient and tried those... JUNK ! .
    You can do well at the Dollar Tree if you know what to look for. Mine must be a crummy Dollar Tree compared to others ive seen on YT because with the exception of what I mentioned, it doesn't have half of what she showed. Of course I had to report it's Manager three times at the worst height of Covid for employees not wearing masks... Ours DID have the Weed Test ... Whoppie...
