Sarah is simply a brilliant musical treasure. The best part is she is young and we can look forward to 50 more years of this musical genius and professionalism. Awesome!!
I know. Her body of work since she was 17 and "Song Up In Her Head" came out. I am in awe of her musicianship. Especially Octave Mando. Her bandmates with Im With Her are incredible too.. Sarah's been the best thing since isolation..
This is my one of my favorite Sinatra standards. So courageous of you, Sarah, to cross over to the jazz genre. Frank had a big band swinging behind him. You killed it with a guitar and a stand-up bass, and of course your fabulous voice. Love your versatility.
[Frank had a big band swinging behind him.] Truth be told, Sinatra could never swing like she can. Sarah Jarosz can perform in so many different genres.
I have to ask, can you please sing more jazz tunes? You are spectacular here Sarah. A duet with Frank would have been perfect too. Also, the jazz swing on your octave is awesome. I hope you don't mind if I copy it. Jeff's bass really swings too.
OMG! Such an awesome voice and musician performing a great version of the classic. Can't wait to see her live sometime. COVID sucks but the music coming out has been enlightening.
Sarah, I first saw you about ten years ago on Austin City Limits. You looked like a little girl who just wandered in off the farm, but you slayed me. I was blown away by your voice, talent, and versatility (I think you played three different instruments). I remember thinking, "Wow, keep an eye on this young one." Ten years later and you have grown to be everything I imagined you'd be, and then some. Every time I hear you I feel like, "Yeah, I knew it the first time I saw you." Proud to say that I've been a fan of yours for more than a minute now. I've really enjoyed the stuff you have put out during the lockdown these past several months.
Agree! Been following Sarah since she was still at Wimberley HS... Her first ACL appearance was amazing for an 18 year old. I was in awe of her Octave Mandolin from the first note.. :) stay safe. Peace from Wimbo..
Appreciate the pivot between genres with a consistent touch of bluegrass. Don't know whether I like the guitar playing or Sarah's singing the most. The Double Bass creates great warmth to a wonderful cover
awesome!!!😊😊😊........amazing.......great cover 😍........applause 👏...........❤️ loved it.................................Big like! 👍 ..................well done Sarah 😎..................your video is going straight in My Favorite Artist list on my channel 😎😎😎
Current Standards are destined to become a part of your future just as many of your songs are destined to become Standards themselves. Seems like every day as I discover more of your growing body of work, I just appreciate it and you more. Again…thanks kiddo!!!
Gee, I'd like to do a song that would go well with a stand-up bass player. See if I can find one around here someplace. Oh! Look what I found just hanging around the house? Jeff Picker! He'll do.
I just dont know anymore I had a dream about a clown chasing me than this more a guy on a bike wearing a clown helmet followed me to a restaurant Sarah she is so great
Frank Sinatra? He sang it 20 or 30 years after it won best song. Try Jerome Kern with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. Love your softer notes, Sarah - the way you end some of your phrases with full breath.
Ok, hands up, I think her version is the best I've ever heard. Sorry "booblé" and Frank ...I genuinely never liked you (thanks Don) Like I said, hands up, I have to admit I don't know the guitar shaped instrument she is playing so beautifully. My guess the double "courses" are tuned in unison, like a mandolin. But...its obviously a much lower octave.. and the chords suggest a different tuning. I guess something like a tenor 4 string guitar (bottom strings? or ukele ? Anyone...please. I love this sound and will get that instrument also. Anybody fancy buying a telecaster ?

Dang! An album full of western swing and jazz standards by Sarah would be incredible!
It may only be August but it feels like a merry Christmas.

No guitar involved. It's a Fletcher Brock octave mandolin. Note the 8 strings . . .
@@mattiecogburn8002 Thanks I hadn't noticed that

Killer
Frank Who? That's Fred Astaire's song.
Perfectly natural for a girl raised in Bob Wills country. Everything you do you own it, they are as if the song was written just for you.
Is there nothing you can't cover amazingly?! From Vampire Weekend, to Sinatra, to Phil Collins, to.... Wow!
This is great! I'd love to hear you do more from the Great American Songbook!
I have to ask, can you please sing more jazz tunes? You are spectacular here Sarah. A duet with Frank would have been perfect too. Also, the jazz swing on your octave is awesome. I hope you don't mind if I copy it. Jeff's bass really swings too.
Go, Jeff, go!
She's amazing. Everything she does just comes out gorgeous.
We love you Sarah and the way you look tonight!
This performance is in the stratosphere and transcends all genres. Simply amazing! Wonderful!
Chunking out some quarter notes to a Sinatra classic. Well done.
OMG! Such an awesome voice and musician performing a great version of the classic. Can't wait to see her live sometime. COVID sucks but the music coming out has been enlightening.
What a nice way to end a day. Thank you both!
Feel very happy that I was able to figure this out on the guitar. Rhythm changes for the win!

Great rendition 😊
You had me at “some day”.
Very nice!!!

Sarah can sing anything and make it her own.
Playing and singing ? Now that's impressive!! You go girl!!
I love how you took such a classic and made it your own. Gorgeous version 💕💕
Fantastic cover. Love the crossover sound that makes this your own.
Such clarity with precisely smooth delivery on the vocals and arrangement. This lacks nothing. = Superb!
Pure pleasure!
Great performance by both of you, thanks!

Some standard from the New Real Book. God Bless The Child
Hehe yes!! I played this onstage in college as did so many others. Sarah is in another category altogether. The New Real Book was our bible.
You know, People of my generation just got healed by that..... Right! Blessings, you two and your crew!
OH! So Pleasing!!!!

Wow. Western swing meets Betty Carter? Pretty cool
Ufff.... second time I'm hearing you. The first was amazing, this one was might even be better. Newest Fan... thats me.
Welcome to the SJ admiration society! Great music.
You've got a plethora of great Sarah to discover! Enjoy!
Soothing vocals... very impressive guitar chords.
octave mandoline. :)
@@sharonmickey4566 wow, i really thought it was a guitar, now I see it has 8 strings. Thanks sharon..

Yeah
Fabulous. Did Jeff take the solo that Sarah called?

Sarah she is so great
What guitar is that?? 8 strings? Please tell me. By the way, I LOVE your performances.
octave mandolin made by fletcher brock :)
Beautiful! And hilarious, too: the count-in is so much faster than the starting tempo!
What sort of 8 string guitar is that?
It's actually an octave mandolin
@@jschremp1 no kidding? I've been playing guitar for 30 years and never heard of an octave mandolin. I'll have to check one out, thanks for the info
What guitar is that?
octave mandolin
music by jerome kern, lyrics by dorothy fields sung by fred astaire i believe

Anybody fancy buying a telecaster ?
It's an octave mandolin. Tuned just like a regular mandolin, but one octave lower. Similar in shape to a mandocello, but it's tuned differently
"America is a land of beautiful dentistry." - Christopher Hitchens
This is a Fred Astaire cover, beautifully done.
Is there a style this lady cannot master ?
What can't you do?
Is this a husband and wife duo?
Your voice is getting richer with age, but I still like your original music better. Ring Them Bells is a great cover however.
What the fuck is that instrument in her handd!!! why is it so tasty???????????????
octave mandoline, fletcher brock, seattle
