We love to travel Australia, so just one lap of Australia isn't enough!
In this episode, we look to the future and what is next for Staycation Oz. We look at what kind of caravan or camper trailer will suit us for our next chapter of travelling (doing shorter trips around VIC, SA, NSW and TAS). We go to the Victoria Camping & Caravanning Show in Melbourne to help us decide.

We've done the camper trailer thing previously and loved it, and I'm sure you will too after caravanning. So many different places to explore.
Funny story - we went to a caravanning and camping show with friends years ago. They were looking for a camper trailer as an upgrade to their tent. We thought they were crazy looking at a trailer for 8K! A year later we spent 15K for one with all the bells and whistles 😳And now they are up to 100K+, wow!
Hahahaha - so funny how your perspective changes on what is “basic vs luxury”! (Not so funny on how much prices have gone up) 😬

Dont forget that many off grid camping sites expect you to be self contained. Having recently gone to a caravan from a camper trailer, I would miss the shower/toilet of a van. While you are looking, make sure you actually set up and pack up each camper, including the annex/awning to get a realistic idea of time and effort involved. Also think about when it is raining.

We had a Jayco Swan and loved it. Opened up to 23 feet and had every thing that you need for a great holiday. Also fits into an average sized single garage. Happy hunting and best wishes from Rotorua NZ

We had the same dilemma as you when trying to work out what caravan would fit in our garage. We ended up buying a Trakkadu Campervan. It's our every day driver, 5.41 m long, 2.1 m high and it fits in our garage too and we love it.

That 2nd one you looked at that you said was like a nightclub…I saw that one too in Adelaide. It was really nice but it was so $$$$$$$$$$. Some camper trailers are more than many caravans🤦🏼♀️
Hey LadySusan Jane! Yes it’s crazy to see some of the prices out there!!
Very interested to see which camper trailer you end up with. We are limited in tow weight and actually choose Crusader for our investment- you came close to it in the video, we are awaiting delivery of our Gladiator. We shopped camper trailers, hybrids and caravans and found the Crusader Gladiator has the caravan “feel” but a camper trailer weight. Plus we know Crusader is a good product and Australian made.
Oh yes, we’ve been in the Gladiator- a great little caravan with all the mod cons!! We’ll put up a new video about our camper trailer decision very soon - just got to get it filmed first!!

As you said it will be a big shock after the palatial Crusader, however very exciting to be able to experience a different type of accommodation. You'll be able to go for many short trips & take it anywhere, a big bonus.

We have a CUB Brumby basic but well made in Australia , we are about to do an open ended trip around Australia , we have bought a thermal blanket keeping warm maybe an issue we are towing with an Isuzu MUX cannot feel it much when towing

Not sure of measurements but what about a van that has a fold up drawer bar to give extra space in your garage
Good point Kerry - we hadn’t thought about that! I don’t think that comes on any vans as standard but I know there are a couple of companies out there that do it as a modification. 👍🏻

So happy to see your happy faces again! ❤ Ive just bought a 25yr old Ultimate and it is brilliant 👌 Wanted something I cook inside of incase of bad weather or flies, something easy to set up alone, off road ability, light weight and a big enough bed for me and my dog 😂 So many different campers on the market, I am sure you will find yours soon 😎🐾

Yes we did - it’s a bit too big for our garage. Great set up though - I think you can see us walk past it in the video at one point…

We did look at the Jayco camper trailers - a couple of them would fit in our garage. We didn’t want to bore people with footage of every single camper that we looked at whilst at the show, so I’m afraid that bit got edited out! Otherwise we’d have a very long episode 😂
